>What happened last thread?
You were poisoned by someone, and so far you’ve spent nearly two days confined to a bed. Able to move for the first half of the first day, but unable to even talk for the second half, you had some time to think. You wondered who – and why – poisoned you. After Francesca pointed some strange events out, you came to the realization that all the evidence was stacked against none other than Desiderius. William and Michèl are slated to return later today, no doubt with a new shipment of grain and wood, and quite some ducats. William, a knight, will know how to deal with traitors and turncoats.

You clear your mind, or try to, at least. Desiderius had poisoned you, but you weren’t sure if he was ordered to. Francesca leaned some more into you, whispering. “Could Orsani have ordered Desiderius to do it?” You shrug your shoulders lightly, looking down at your numb legs. You still couldn’t move them. If this morning was any indication, then you’d be able to move them come sunset. After all, it took you maybe twelve hours to be able to move your torso again.

Glancing at the door, you sigh. It was going to be incredibly hard to find a suitable, loyal replacement for Desiderius. Perhaps you’d need to spend some money, buy a Greek slave, or perhaps one of the enlightened Easterners. That was another problem: Money. While you currently had a good system, there was a chance that Orsani knew of your theft. You remove your arm from Francesca’s waist, starting to move back on the bed. Moments later, you were comfortably lying down again. She still sat on the bed’s edge, looking at you concernedly.

Then it hit you: The dowry for Francesca would be quite impressive. You began to wonder; could it be in the form of ships? Ducats? Whatever it was going to be, you would be grateful. The two of you spent the next few hours just cuddling, not really saying anything.

There was a sudden knock on the door.

How important do you view feats as being in RPGs (such as D&D). Do you think their main purpose is to give you something cool to do in combat, rather than just endlessly hacking? Do you think they're essential, or just nice to have? Or do you not like them?

That's a lot of non-sequitur.

Feats, at their core, are just character customization blocks. The question essentially boils down to how customizable you want PCs. Everything else, like "doing interesting things in combat rather than just hacking" should be a given with or without feats.

I like to customize my characters so I like feats, but sometimes going super simple OSR style also works. It's really just up to what you want.
>>
>>46521284
Feats allow your character to be an actual character instead of Paladin nº 5000 or Barbarian McBigStick. They're the actual character creation of any non-caster class. Your class defines your general capabilities, and your feats enable you to do the neat stuff people love about RPGs. It's also what caster classes use to get metamagic and cool supplements to their casting, so everyone wins.

Also, the level of freedom Feats give is what's so great about D&D(fighter excluded). If you like anime-like combat, you can make the most insane combinations of moves with feats, or if you just like hacking endlessy, you can choose feats that simply grant static bonuses because it covers for boring people too.

So, yeah. It's pretty damn important.
>>
>>46521848
I've got issues laying out questions in a normal fashion, I know

>>46522007
But to both of you, thanks for your thoughts on feats. For the system I'm working on, I was wondering if I could just do it with skills, by doing an effectively classless system and having people put points into whatever skills they'd like, but both of you seem to think that feats are fairly important for customisation, and I can definitely see where you're coming from, so I'll give it some thought

SHAKARA!

The galaxy has descended into anarchy. The Great Terror waxes strong as planets, civilisations and even star systems are consumed by war and devastation. But a vengeful figure has emerged from the chaos, striking at targets with a ruthless determination and but a single word on its lips...

Five years ago today I began posting 2000AD stories like Shakara as sources of inspiration and ideas for various /tg/ games, so I thought it would be nice to revisit this tale of vengeance, betrayal and ludicrous violence. The constantly escalating, highly imaginative action story Shakara is not only a thrilling read and an interesting universe to explore in itself, but it is also one of the few stories outside of Games Workshop productions to really show what a creature like an Eversor assassin would be like.

The enchantress' hand falls away from your shoulder, a fact for which you're immensely grateful. Ever since you watched her incapacitate a Vatis with barely any effort at all on her part, you must admit you've been feeling a degree of wariness regarding her touch. Slowly she stalks forward, stepping up to the pedestal upon which her crown sits and delicately running an emaciated hand across its golden surface. “I have labored for what in truth feels the majority of my undoubtedly long life, and now I find myself now so close to the culmination of my hard work that I can't but hardly wait.”

She turns her head towards you, smiling genuinely and without malice. “Were it not for the fact that the device is occupied, I would have already subdued you for my purposes. You appear to be a sandesta of remarkable skill, considering your age. No doubt your divine spark would have made a fine addition to my collection.” A portion of the wall melts away, revealing yet another hallway beyond. You think you might be able to faintly make out the sound of screaming, but you're not sure. “Would you like a tour of my facilities? You know, it's so rare that I get to discuss these things with a peer.”

The air in the room seems progressively harder to breath, the weight upon your shoulders bearing down heavier with each passing second. It wills you to kneel, to bow before a force far beyond your comprehension and accept your fate as its servant. You need only channel a touch of Metal magic to stave off the desperate cries for your obedience, but nonetheless you have little desire to stay here any longer than you must. Nor do you particular want a detailed explanation of how it is she tortures the souls out of her victims, though you admit a purely academic curiosity.

No, more than anything you want to drive your dagger through her eye, to see it rip through flesh and shatter bone. To put an end to this woman before she can further endanger either you or society. However, part of you questions whether these thoughts are your own, or if perhaps the same forces which urge you to submit drive you towards violence.

>This place is affecting your thoughts adversely, politely refuse her offer of a tour and ask she return you to the library.

I need some appropriate music for my campaign that I'm running right now.

Themes for my campaign:
>D&D
>Mononoke-esque fantasy with spirits of nature, at least in the location they're in
>Disappeared race (elven) with left-behind arcane magitech
>Noblebright knight kingdom inspired by French and Spanish knights
>nomadic druids, spellwarriors and shamans inspired by celtic folk
>African/Middle Eastern kingdom to the far south of the continent specializing in mechanisms, science and human ingenuity
>Imperial German/Chinese/Fire Nation to the far west across the sea, anti-magic

I'm leaning towards Yoshida Brothers for the part they're in right now, and maybe some Two Steps into Hell for some more of the epic moments, but I'm stuck on where to look otherwise. Anyone got any recommendations?

Posting character art that's part of my inspiration.

Dead Can Dance--
Mysterious and tribal transitioning to spiritual and Medieval. Good for setting a spooky scene. Recommended albums: Into the Labyrinth, Aion, Spirit Chaser.

Haunting. Jazzier than Dead Can Dance, but with similar applications. Recommended albums: Breaking the Ethers, Cinemathique (Trading with the Enemy is pretty decent too).

>Anvil of Crom -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j6nyEcIk98

Ian Anderson's album, Divinities:12 Dances with God--
Light orchestral music: sometimes whimsical, sometimes soaring, but usually fairly minimalist. Good for exotic foreign ports and travel when danger isn't menacing.
>In the Pay of Spain -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHJEe4oqc1M
>In Sight of the Minaret -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK6ue0vD4gI

Chris Poland--
Instrumental thrash moving towards jazz; a bit Satriani-esque. Haunting and wistful but nevertheless energetic. Good for riding into the lost ruins of Kyzanaek trailed by saber-wielding ghouls.
