I saw this book at my local game shop, and it really caught my eye. I've been yearning to do a post apocalyptic themed game for years, and this seems really interesting. Does anyone have experience with this set of games called Mutant: Year Zero? If I got this specific book, would it be the only one I need to play, because it's pretty expensive for a multisplat book.
It's really interesting, so anyone with experiences please share. How does the game perform mechanically? What systems is it similar to? I REALLY like the settlement management section I glossed over, how does that perform?

How do you handle high-level spellcasters, both players and NPCs, in your games? Clone + Demiplane can make them very hard to kill, and there's always that pesky Contigent True Resurrection...

You could just go to the appendixes of each book.
Create the most overpowered MTG deck possible. Only restriction is a maximum of 4 copies of each card. Everything is legal
Blue combo deck that achieves infinite mana and turns on the first turn. The wincon is using Braingeyser or some other "Target player draws X cards" to make the other guy draw his entire library +1 in one go.

Darkness, that's all I can see. The darkness, the trees have cut the sun off from this part of the jungle, and it's blistering and I'm sweating like a dog, especially because I'm still wearing Jack's coat and these googles which are all foggy and making it hard to see, I probably should take them off. I sigh, and wipe my forehead. And the worst part is, unlike the forest or the earlier parts of this thing, I don't hear anything living besides Ochamu and Yotshi whimpering like beat kids.
I pull my cap up and look around, all I can see is the vague outlines of my friends, and they aren't moving without me.
"I hate bumbling around in the dark" I groan as I rub my eyes, hoping that maybe I'll develop some new ability or something "we better be getting close"
"Oh we are, trust me" Jack says walking towards the side, grabbing something long and pipe like "See this? know you can't, but I'm pretty sure it's an old torch, this place used to be lit with them, guessing they're not expecting visitors"
"Well why don't we just light it then?" Yotshi whimpers as he clings to Ochamu, shivering "I'm with Adela on this one, I just know somethings going to jump out at us or some crap!"
"Shhhh" Jack says calmly "silence your tongue I am thinking here"
"Well can't you light it anyways, I don't much like the dark either" Ochamu sniffles, hugging Yotshi like a teddy bear and cracking something in him, making him groan in pain "Even a little bit of light would be nice"

The Faceless overcame the tyrant lord of Bikel, Stephan Grant, son of Mikael Grant. Thus, while wearing the face of the vengeful spirit "The Reaper of Aurel" otherwise known as Dramir, a story in the world of Thespia comes to an end as a hero arrives to deliver the accursed Guisi from their fates of enslavement and labor.
Yet despite this success, a shadow of doubt looms upon the horizon as the Reaper claimed victory from Lord Grant whilst in his Arche's true form, a secret kept by the Guisi at all costs for fear of true persecution at the hands of other Thespians.
Yet the curtain has closed upon that story and a sibling pair grow restless as they hear the whispers of the Guisi elders and their intent to make the Reaper disappear to ensure that there are no loose ends.

“It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, but who are you really?” Says the young Hylon girl with wispy antennae atop her head, Victoria the Worm.
Light shimmers through tall elegantly crafted windows, the work of a master at play as the glass lets in sparkling light that beams lavishly through scarlet curtains with a golden embroidery and styled with paisley leaves and roses. As the light dances through upon the room, it graces beautiful cherrywood furnishing and the velvet of masterwork chairs providing a rich atmosphere to the study.
From there, bookshelves that tower up on high towards what looks like at least three stories are completely stocked with books, and though you can't tell from here, you'd reckon that they were in alphabetical order by title and author, somehow.
Odette stands by your side, her white hair blushed by the lightest of reds by the warm timely atmosphere of the library. She's pensive, and a touch rigid at the idea of returning to a Hylon manor, the scars of her last bend with them fresh. Odette's fingers flex and unflex as she's ready to draw her bow at any time, despite the fact that the guard insisted on taking her arrows at the door. The dirt from your most recent adventure is still upon her as it is you, and not quite so much Biz.
Biz, whom apparently arrived here before you, sits at one of the many tables in this library, seemingly spurned by the young lady cutting him off mid-balad upon your arrival. He tries not to look so glum, instead rolling his eyes onto other locations and admiring the fine work of the rugs, bookcases and furniture.

“Madame.” A servant clears his throat as he humbly expresses his concern, “In our last archiving of this library, there were no books concerning meeting heroes...” The servant looks to you with a simply droll expression, his long face explicit of a few Hylon features with the overall hardness of a dutiful Danhor. “Though, it is indeed to be expected that the hero pay homage to the daughter of a Lord, or in this case The Count, with a proper curtsy and smile so as to not upset the social conventions of tradition.”
“But, they are my guest, the normal routine applies there too?” Victoria slides down, sighing out her anxious relief. Walking back over to you with a lady-like gait and standing tall, at least for her youth, she seems to put on a haughty facade as she awaits your homage.

We left off with you having completed your year long training in the hyperbolic time chamber with Alexander. The two of you wound up performing a fusion dance, becoming a single warrior. You then got onto your airship and proceeded to look for the dragon who stole the love of your life. During the year, you forced the duchess to clean for you, slowly turned her into a cow, and attempted to have a bull mate with her, driving her to attempted suicide. The bull was then turned into a human being named Duke, while Meredith is still a cow.
For any new comers, as a magic user your powers are practically infinite but also extremely unreliable.

Sunni Islam's loss of Mecca has provoked a response - the disparate factions who yet make their homes in Northern Africa and Iberia have put aside their differences in order to lead a push to the east under an ambitious young warrior calling himself the new Caliph.
This move has understandably shaken the Christian rulers of Europe. A united Sunni Caliphate - should it succeed in taking all of northern Africa and reclaiming Mecca - would pose a threat not just to the newly-minted Crusader States, but to all of Christendom.
Thus, in a controversial act of Papal authority, the newly elected Pope Urchin II declared the Iberian Reconquest to be a holy crusade, encouraging warriors from the world over to march upon the Mohammedan occupier and to bring salvation to those ruling there.

Anyway, haven't spent the time remaking the deck, but the two story modes seem much better than BFZ's
I do like that the last Gatewatch story mission starts you out with a non-random hand.
