So I'm not sure if it's okay to post these here or not, but since I saw all the DoWIII threads earlier I thought maybe it would.
The other day on /v/ we had a thread about the possibility of a squad-based FPS or TPS game about the Imperial Guard. It was a robust discussion but short lived, and I thought I'd get the views of /tg/ on such a game, IE what you'd like to see in it. A couple of ideas tossed out in the /v/ thread were that the game could have a mechanic where you could switch between the PoV of your squad (since it'd be assumed many...

>What would you guys want out of it if such a thing happened?
IG not acting like canon fodder and jobbers for once
>>47100277
Isn't that their job? I mean, sure, they have elite units (which is what this game would presumably be about, because it's no fun playing a game where you die to Tyranids in the first minute) but the IG standard operating procedure is to grind their enemies down through attrition and sheer numbers.
>>47100352
You can't get attached to throwaway characters like that. Fun of TPS game is playing a group of characters, learn to like them, see them getting through shit together. If they die like flies, and even stormtroopers do, it kills most of the enjoyment.
QUESTION!!!
If an interstellar colony ship crashed landed on a planet, what would the minimum viable population need to be in order to have a population number close to 16th century Europe in two thousand years time?
>>47099363
You need to start with roughtly 10k of unrelated people to avoid bottleneck effect.
You need to start with roughtly 5k of unrelated people to have viable genetic pool.
You need to have at least 2k of people and careful management for few generations (or even forever) to keep things without inbreeding.
It doesn't matter what population you are aiming at, having less than 2k means you will end up fucked up big time in roughtly 5-6 generations.

Are there any "good" forces/deities that reside in the warp?
We see all the time malevolent forces of Chaos manifest themselves from the warp into reality, corrupting it. Is there any opposite force that tries to manifest in reality for good?
No. Next question please.
>>47099082
Maybe, though nothing on par with the big 4.
>>47099141
So there are no examples in all the lore of "good" manifesting from the warp, even in small ways?
I mean, at one point the warp was relatively calm and not overwhelmed by chaos. There must be some entities who have survived from back then, right?
Does the Glorianna have the advantage through sheer bulk, the amount of void shields, armor and mass?
The amount of shit the Enterprise's phasers and torpedoes can cut through is just so thick. And assuming they can even pinpoint a critical reactor that could actually cripple a ship the size of Manhattan island AND teleport through all those different shields, could they even assemble an away team capable of fighting it's way through a population of angry muscly slaves and cyborgs who know nothing but anal cramps and war?
Could the Entrprise even withstand...

Why would you need to assemble an away team, beaming a proton torpedo directly adjacent to the main reactors on a ten second timer would do your job just as well.
>>47099110
That's if you can:
-Find the reactor, one of hundreds against the background radiation of kilometers of machinery that nobody has bothered to mask for centuries
-Beam through about ten different kinds of shields designed to ward off attacks in the tens of megatons ranges
-AND get close enough to teleport through a barrage of AA that is denser than LA Traffic on a Friday afternoon.
>>47099110
Yeah, if only transporters were affected by shields and metal thickness.
Oh, wait....While we're at it, beaming explosives is a pretty inefficient way of destroying things, since you can use a transporter as a directed energy weapon
>Clear rules indicate an absence of depth
>single line of greentext indicates lack of intelligence, creativity and heterosexuality
It's confirmed OP, you're a retarded faggot.
Rules being confusing don't mean the game is deep. Even a five year old child can create a game that nobody can understand, doesn't make it deep.

Do the citizens of the Imperium have access to smart/cellphones, or do vox-casters represent the peak of communications tech for individuals?
>>47098565
Nope
>>47098639
So what would be the average form of communication device a civilian might have access to?
>>47098565
Depends on the world. Dataslates may have communicators and various programs in them, and there are miniaturised communication devices as well.
On the more advanced side, AdMech operates 'manifolds' that facilitate virtual reality and mind-to-mind communication for all participants.
Your party comes across this cat. What do?
Nothing. Your thread is shit, OP.

The wizard casts Awakenon the box, freaking the cat out

Place a fragile vial of poison in the box, close it up, and call it a science experiment.
Five years ago, the world was changed for you forever in a flash of blue radiance. This strange event bestowed wondrous powers on you and many others. Even if there were ones before, this new generation of heroes and villains was unprecedented in size. Your powers almost netted you enough money to pull you out of poverty, but you just couldn't bring yourself to steal. Your job already lost, you soon lost your apartment, leaving you on the street.
Three years ago, the same blue light shined worldwide in an event known as "The Pow Boom". If you were still...

You open your eyes and are greeted by splashes of color in vague shapes of objects, your head aching little more than average. That's the first thing that strikes you as strange, normally when you push too far your head feels like it was run through a vice. Curiously reaching your hand to the back of your head, you feel a bit of a gooey substance back there. A quick examination of your blurry hand proves your suspicion that you didn't just pass out, blood is smeared over it like a painted canvas.
Your sight eventually clears and you can see that this is someone's...

How do you rationalize the extremely alien ethics and morality of the Outer Planes?
Take Arborea, for example, the Outer Plane that embodies CG. Both 2e Planes of Chaos and the 5e Dungeon Master's Guide have this to say about it:
>Arborea is a place of violent moods and deep affections, of whim backed by steel, and of passions that blaze brightly until they burn out. Its good-natured inhabitants are dedicated to fighting evil, but their reckless emotions sometimes break free with devastating consequences. Rage is as common and as honored...

Well, after processing the fact that he isn't on Lunar base Gamma anymore, he'd vaporize the mutant humanoid for violating the fifth law, and the seventh law.
So, the kickstarter for The Dark Eye launched just now:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1216685848/the-dark-eye-rpgenglish-edition
It's the biggest pen & paper system in german speaking countries and has been in publication for well over 30 years.
The system was quite bloated in the past, but with the 5th Edition they boiled it down to basics in a better way while keeping it interesting. What I like about the system is the fact that it feels more skill based and you can actually create the sort of character you like - even a confectioner is...

This is the main setting Aventuria, which is sort of small - it's only about the size of Europe, so you can get around pretty past
Character generation is really in-depth as you choose a race / culture / professions / advantages & disadvantages / skills - maybe even spells and miracles you know.
Managed that used to be a nightmare - even with a computer program it took at least an hour.
They also improved this with the new edition as there are certain "packages" you can take
Setting is definitely more low-fantasy and feels more Medieval. Only in the Arabian Nights part of the continent they have flying carpets and djinns building cities etc.
What's wrong with salamanders?
They are too hot for their own good.
They're judgemental.

Comedic genius. Bravo.
Hello all, I am interested I having a private chat D&D style RPG campaign. it will be a basic middle earthy story (eg find some treasure, slay a dragon, rescue princess, etc...)
TRADITIONAL RULES DO NOT APPLY.
I have never played D&D before so you don't need to know anything about the game, the only thing you need to know is basic math, how to read, your ABC's and your 123's
For those trolls who got my last thread taken down, please leave innocent people trying to have some wholesome RPG fun alone and post your negative comments elsewhere....

How are the chosen few being chosen?
Alright /tg/, you're tasked with surviving 48 hours in the 40k universe as an imperial guardsmen.
The day of the week that your next birthday falls on will tell you who you're fighting.
Sunday: World Eaters
Monday: Tau
Tuesday: Orks
Wednesday: Tyranids
Thursday: Sisters of Battle
Friday: Necrons
Saturday: Eldar
Remember, you have to survive 48 hours. So if your birthday falls on a Wednesday, you'll the nids first and then the sisters of battle on Thursday.
How did you fare and why
>>47096744
Well it's Orks so I do my best to stay on the Valkyrie and be a gunner. Do what I can to stay off the ground or as far from the front line as I can. From there hope the Orks roll shit.
>>47096744
>Saturday: Eldar
I know fuck-all about 'em, but they seem reasonable compared to the other options. I keep my head down and dodge the giant shuriken or whatever.
>>47096744
>Sisters of Battle
Why would I be fighting the Sisters? They're an Imperial force.
>Necrons
Nope.
What are the powers of a Bismuth Golem?
