I'm rated 1700 though, so that'd be the equivalent of High Silver on CS:GO. I don't expect to do all that well but I might as well give it a shot.

So for some strange reason GW actually thought about it and decided to bring back the Squats as a playable faction, albeit under a different name.

You are responsible for it and it is up to you how they are named and how they make their grand debut before their codex is released.

I'll start with my version.

The Squats are renamed as The Void Clans, and their debut begins when they appear suddenly over Baal where they aid the Blood Angels and their successors in the defense of the planet when finally a tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan, as well as the Khornate Host of Ka'Bandha, finally hit it. The space dwarves originally were after the aliens (due to obvious reasons), but they also have a raging grudge towards Chaos.

Seeing the Space Marines besieged, the abhumans launch an assault on both Tyranid and Chaos forces and bolster the manpower of the Astartes. The battle drags on, but neither side is getting the advantage.

What's your take on it?

Also Squat thread. And no, they came back in 6th Edition as a background abhuman race. And not even on the extinct list.

Astra Militarum has its own sub-militia formed out of squats only, the so called "provocavit ad verticem", who use their own vehicles and wargear, mostly different to the standard Astra Militarum equipment.

Special forces? That actually is nice.

I have a problem with how my DM (D&D 5e) treats PCs that either have their players absent or are a retired character.
First, the latter:
When I retired my Monk, he said "Right, this character is now going to become my NPC", I was switching characters in the middle of a mission (which he forced) and assumed he just meant that he would controll her actions for the rest of the mission since I couldn't play both (which I personally felt was a stupid rule).
However, as I missed the sessions after that, I later found out that, rather than having the character leave the party in the way I had described I was going to hqve her to (Explain some information she has, then turn over the 50 or so healing potions she was keeping for the party), the DM simply had her qalk aqay while no-one was looking. They even tried to contact her, which ended up being pointless.
Ontop of that, if a player isn't on, he plays them and has them often make decisions and say things that are completely against what the character would normally do and/or simply has bad shit happen to them (he likes PCs being captured).
The Roleplayibg community I come from has one sinple rule. "If the player isn't online, don't fuck with their characters or the things they made." My DM seems to ignore this basic rule.
My questions are, is this normal DM behaviour? He watches a lot of Podcasts, is some Roleplaying Source telling people to do this?

I should also note that I have discussed my characters actions and noted my displeasure on it, but he is refusing to let me retcon it or otherwise mitigate the sheer stupidity.

>D&D 5e
There's your problem.
It's no 3.PF but it still fucks with people's heads.

But seriously, your DM is a retard on a power trip.
There are various conflicting sources of advice, but adversarial GMing should be a very rare piece of advice because it's utter shit.
>>
>>47095680
>My questions are, is this normal DM behaviour?

It's not normal in the sense that the majority of DMs do it, but it's more common than it should be, yeah. It's this passive-aggressive way DMs deal with player absence/players compulsively switching characters, which can be big problems if left unchecked. Thing is it's the bad way to deal with it, which a DM should really do, person to person, addressing the player, outside of game.

As for mandating your character switch and then taking over as a DMPC, that just sounds shitty. Your DM a twat.

So how many litres of paint would the Ad Mechs on Mars use in a single day? Imagine how much paint you would need to paint a titan or a knight.

*Insert self replicating DAoT paint here*
>>
>>47095528
Every three hundred point one four years, a hulking space-barge pulls into the orbit of Mars, completing its circular route around the planets of the Segmentum Solar that grow the plants required to create pigments. Several generations of paint mixers, colour theorists and holy men are born, grow old and die on board before the ship can finally unload its precious, multi-coloured cargo into the hungry paint vats of Mars - each giant vat of the vast Martian Paint Citadel emblazoned with the name of the colour that will fill it.

Furious internal wars have raged, and still do, within the Priesthood of Mars over the names - the Wild Rider Red Apostasy, culminating in the purging of the Blood Red mixing instructions from the databanks of Mars, or the traitorous rise of Colour-Bishop Agrax and his usurpation of the popular Devlan vats.
>>
>>47095685
And each generation, the vats of paint grow smaller and smaller... And their cost remains the same.

>do the campaign as the Sisters because faith and angels and shit
>It sets you up against the IG, which is lame, I don't want to fight them, but whatever
>get the hang of the sisters in the first few missions, faith mechanic is interesting, turf wars against the IG haven't been too difficult
>time comes to attack the IG home base
"Alright, so it'll be more like the story missions in vanilla dow then? Cool, those were generally pretty easy"
>make sure to stop the convoy from reaching their base, otherwise they'll get baneblades!
>oh, you blew up the place spawning convoys?
>guess we'll have to use this other place that's half the distance and 5x better defended then!
>Oh by the way, we have a basilisk cannon now. What that means is that units will randomly walk towards your base, and when you find one, they explode in an aoe bigger than yo mama's fat ass!
>You better get to destroying the basilisk cannon! And the convoys, make sure not to forget about them!
>Hey have you ever heard of Creed? Because we just spawned some carskins and sentinels in the far corner of your base where you have no defenses
>Aww, you called your troops back home in time? That's okay, now we got marauders randomly swooping in to fuck your shit up
>while the suicide bombers are walking around
>And, you haven't been aggressive enough, so we've managed to save up some money for ogryn to be everywhere. And sentinels. Lots and lots of sentinels
>so how about them convoys?

Does playing a body-snatcher count? Because I played a magical girl who could survive outside of her body and steal the bodies of anyone with a "weaker spirit" than her... which was most normal humans considering the nature of the game. Towards the end of the game I ended up doing this alot because it pretty much completely mitigated any risks to suicide-rushing rushing enemies as long as I was willing to sacrifice someone else for it.

My warrior got drunk with the local witch with the party tagging along, having a good old time in the hut.

He fell asleep next to the cauldron, fell against it and knocked it over, drenching him in the contents.

Woke up the next morning as a supermutant spider ala Starship Trooper arachnid, albeit with all his faculties intact sans the ability to speak. He found his true calling from Pelor as he gained the ability to (apparently) speak directly with the god and became a paladin.

It was a pretty wild ride.

No, because GMs are paranoid about messing with what a player's chosen character is. It's getting a bit silly when it's at the point where the only time I've ever had a GM inflict crippling injury on a character is when using the crit charts from Only War.

We're talking scars here too. Not just losing an arm or an eye.

It's even worse when the GM doesn't have the townsfolk give the player shit for being a certain race. Half-orc in a dwarven settlement? Sure no problem.

I hate it.

>For thousands of centuries, the emperor has sat on his immobile throne. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods, and master of...

Ok, hold up.

What gods?

The Chaos gods?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>47093090

It's a literary device to show that the Emperor is above the laws of mankind, because if it was just a single god, that would make 40k a Biblical themed story by virtue of the Judeo-Christian god being the default monotheistic authority, and since there are no "non-Chaos" pantheon of gods other than for the Eldar, the writers can't say "The Emperor rules mankind by the will of nothing!"

Humanity's continual existence and suffering fuels the gods, so they keep us around as amusing snacks. There is no hope. That's the main premise of the setting.

Model it after the actual interactions between euros and natives in that period.
>Various tribes with their own politics and cultures. Some think of the foreigners as potential allies and trading partners, other see them as threats. Most see them as both
>Natives like the foreigner's tech, foreigners like knowing how to survive in the native's territory
>A lot of the foreigners are normal, working class people who just want to start a new life. Some are outcasts wanting to make it big. Some are good, some are bad. They are ultimately outnumbered and many are unprepared for this new land.
>Natives have recently suffered an apocalyptic plague. Despite outnumbering the outsiders they are a fractured shadow of their former glory. These outsiders could offer the aid they need to rebuild but at the cost of their land and their dignity
Comedic hijinks ensue
