My first attempt at a deck. Not competitive, just to play against friends on my spare time.

I have lately learn to like only cube.

Casual decks get optimized pretty fucking fast and it ends up being "ok this deck beats that and that beats those". Playing legacy outside tournament type setting is demented. Watching dredge to do a thing or storm to roll in turn 1 burn is retarded. Modern as a format is horrible.

If cards were easier to find, would play pauper.

Also, backstory and character ideas thread I guess. Provide the basics, and respond to someone else's with an idea for that character.

"Hello, there! Glad to meet you! Welcome to the world of Roleplaying! My name is Oak. People affectionately refer to me as the Dungeon Master. This world… …is inhabited far and wide by magical and mythical beings! For some people, these are monsters. For others, these are people like you and me. As for myself… I just keep everything running smoothly. But first, tell me a little about yourself. Now tell me. Are you a boy? Or are you a girl?"

I'll play a character named George. He walked 47 miles of barbwire, got a brand new house with a chimney made of human skulls, and uses a whip made out of rattlesnake hide. He's just 22 and he ain't afraid to die.

How do you deal with chaotic stupidity?

I have this player in my 5e group who plays a chaotic evil half-elf paladin carrying a scythe and dressed in black spiked armor with a pentagram who thinks evil means laughing all the time and murder-hoboing everything. He makes no effort at all to hide his murderous tendencies and the party is already thinking about leaving him.

Stories or ideas relating to the use of such things is also encouraged.

STORYTIME

Game mashup of V:tM and V:tR running on nWoD 1e with armory hack and home brewstuff.

PCs are 5 are three night old fledglings adopted by a couple of elders and taked to track down and capture someone. (Basically a suicide mission but if we pulled it off an survived then hey, more useful whippersnappers to boss around is rarely a bad thing)

>Mark (Ventrue), Noah (Malkavian), Ryan (Toreador), Frankie (Brujah), and Buck (Gangrel)

>having met a local information broker for the first time we were told that the people most likely to have what we needed to know were a group of vampires who lived in the city's sewer system.
>So the five of them proceed to ruin their clothes and smell like shit for a few hours.
>Then there is an explosion.
>It takes a moment for everyone's ears to regenerate.
>Ryan and Mark pick themselves up from when they hit the deck
>Frankie is pressed against the tunnel wall hyperventilating with eyes the size of dinner plates.
>Noah is flailing on his back screaming for Jesus to take him now.
>Buck is missing his left leg from below the knee down.
>Ryan looks at the scorch marks and the metal ball bearing now embedded in one of the tunnel walls and deduces that we had tripped a claymore mine.
> None of us know much about vampiric abilities since this was our 3rd night, but after a moment Buck is able to begin forcing his leg to regenerate.
> He can feel the vitae being drained out of him though, and so, having seen our makavian hunger frenzy just the other night and run down a jogger, decided to hobble around on a stump till he could get more blood.
>> Cue amused cackling voice coming from nowhere that is quite happy his new welcome mat worked so well.
>and that's how we met out first Nosferatu.

in games that take place in warzones (active or from a past conflict)

duds and unexploded or abandoned ordinance can be used an encounter, hazard, or opportunity in a game you are running.

How do you properly depict evil in games?
I've always considered senseless violence, rape and genocide to be ever so bland when roleplaying. When was the last time you felt that "Man oh man, this shit is bad" feeling?
24 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Cruelty, hatred, malice, bitterness, those are good evil traits.
>>
>>47101907
I think the best evil is good intentions gone awry. Going against the status quo because you simply don't agree.

A man who topples an entire kingdom because growing up he hated that his mother was a slum dwellers and didn't understand why the upperclassmen didn't help him.

I feel like you can simply be evil by just being on the contrary.
>>
>>47101844
Evil is often somebody who believes themselves to be so right they're blind to all the flaws in their plan. Hitler never once stopped to think "Hm, maybe Genocide was bad" because he was on a mission to make Germany great again. Mao never thought about starving peasants because he was making China a communist utopia. ISIS fighters can rape the 12-year-old slave they just bought without a second thought because Allah wants them to in order to bring about the apocalypse. KKK members could hang a 16-year-old black kid because he "defiled" a pure white teenager.

Evil as an expression of the ends justifying the means can be a powerful storytelling tool. Ideally the players should be working towards similar ends as the villain, or at least be able to see his or her point of view. Then, throughout the story, you demonstrate how the antagonists are willing to do almost anything to achieve their goal.

Done gradually enough, this creates a sense of unease which turns into outright horror.

>GW puts out new FAQ for 40k
>mfw it's over 40 fucking pages and it's only the 1st draft

Why the hell do people play this game again? If I had the 7th Ed rulebook and saw this I'd be demanding a refund because that shit is clearly broken.

I mean goddamn, that's more pages of rules than some of the codexes have.

Good on em for at least trying to fix it at least, but at this point you may as well just make a new ruleset and trash this one, it's clearly beyond help

Which is why they plan to release 7th + FAQ changes and maybe more as 8th later this year. 8th edition Digital will be free.

Refining the FAQ means you are playtesting 8th.

You don't have to like it, and you don't have to participate, but this is the reality of the situation. Come to terms with it in whichever way gives you the most satisfaction.

If you decide to melt all of your Bretonnians in protest, film it for us.
>>

And the faq's have managed to give Eldar several buffs. Surprise!

Death from the Skies, Angels of Death, the new SM psychic garbage, CSM supplement reissues, etc, etc.... etc.

This game will continue to lose players at the speed of light. Instead of offering a quality game, theyve put all their chips on abusing it in attempts to force purchases. The numbers clearly illustrate that it's costing them sales instead.
It's entertaining to watch though.

The air must be getting thin way up there on your high horse anon. My question for you is: do you believe your own bullshit? Because a free brb is a laughably stupid claim. Aside from how stupid it is, you'd have no way of knowing that anyway. You're speculating, with zero basis. You're just another shitposting fanboy; the sooner you come to terms with that, the sooner you can stop being a retard.

i have an idea for how shooting works, i hope you guys have ideas for other things

>Shooting rules: the attacking player first rolls all shot dice for the weapon he is using, then removes all the one that are lower than the defenders dexterity value, the defending player then rolls all of his armor dice and removes a shot for each die over the enemies Armor piercing rating, the attacking player the rolls his Ranged skill dice for each shot that has not been removed, the resulting number is then removed from the defenders constition. (remember that a model with 0 constition is dead)

current model stats
Ranged skill (in dice), contitution, dexterity, armor (in dice).
current weapon stats:
Shots (in dice), Armor piercing rating.

Each armor has pen value and damage value
Body parts have damage multiplier/divider
And each player have damage multiplier/divider

IF pen > DR:
damage = (pen -DR) * weapondamage * bodypart multiplier * skinmultiplier

if pen <= DR
blunt force rules
>>
Hold on. What scale, genre and era is this? And why did you invent the most bloated, unnecessarily complicated shooting rules I've ever seen?

It's fairly commonly acknowledged in the fluff that, between the initiation trials, the gene-seed implantation (and attendant risk of fatal rejection), the training (with live ammo and real danger), and needing to spend some years as a Scout, only one Aspirant in a hundred lives to get his Black Carapace implanted and become a full fledged Marine.

What percentage of Guardsmen do you think live through the average campaign?

Consider that the next time you're about to Guardwank.

Probably a lot more than 1%, I'd assume.
>>
>>47101305
So how the fuck do we have marine chapters that go to the last fucking man, and still exist? With all that training bullshit, it would seem almost more prudent to have simple clones using the geneseed.

Or is that already a practice?

Yeah, the IG couldn't function if they got all their troopers wiped out in every campaign. You need veterans for an army to work.
