You spend the next hour goofing off with Meliora, Andrea and Athena, playing video games and having tickle fights. Sammy sits on the sidelines with Jennifer, and occasionally you catch them whispering things back and forth to each other. It doesn't bug you too much, since it seems like Sammy is calming down, but you note it anyway. As you wrap up the second part of your tournament Sammy and Jennifer move closer and sit with you, and the tournament quickly turns into a six-way, all out brawl.
You manage to emerge victorious, but your victory is cut short when Athena begins to cry. She sniffles and sulks, hiding under a blanket, and when you go to comfort her she shies away from you. Jennifer gently pushes you aside and slips under the blanket with Athena, and you sit back a bit, listening.
“Are you mad that your daddy beat you at the game?”
“Yes...”
“Aww. Well, I'm sure he didn't do it to be mean. I bet you really wanted to win though, didn't you.”
“Uh-huh...”
“Well, if you come back out and play again, maybe we can beat him together. What do you think? Should we team up? It'll be you and me against your daddy, and then everyone else can pick teams too.”
“Okay...”
Jennifer emerges from under the blanket with Athena, who gives you a determined smile, wiping her eyes. Jennifer crosses her arms in front of her chest.
“We challenge you, Oliver. We're going to take you down.”
Athena grins.
“Yeah!”
Athena points her finger at you, before grabbing her controller. Jennifer giggles and picks up hers, sitting beside Athena.

Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.

At the Bonins you narrowly managed to slip from between the hammer and the anvil - and it nearly came unraveled anyways, saved at the last second by Hamp and his fresh firepower. On the back foot, you can only dodge and parry and sneak in the occasional riposte - what you're seeking now is data, information, actionable intelligence. You need to know your enemy in order that you might *strike* him, hurt him - crush him. Find where they live and hit them there, as they've hit humanity. You're going on the offensive, in other words.
Time and Space are all fine and good - but soon you'll need raw, brutal Force.
You'll need Yamato.
You think through a few possibilities - the first is to use your CAC card and go through normal channels; CIA, DIA, NSA, all the other alphabet agencies - but that takes time, quite a bit of time, and will drag in all sorts of names and desks more likely to say NYET than DA, especially since it might trip over already active ops and interests of those own agencies in Japan. You could call Parker and see if any of the dozens of high-tech NSA cell-phone snooping toys invented over the past few years are in his toybox - you seem adept at pissing these clowns off, and maybe they'll slip up and say something on a supposedly-secured line - but you rule that out as the exact kind of risk tactic that had Admiral Thomas breathing fire up your ass earlier.
Which leaves one remaining option - ask the man who knows the goddamn locals. You reach for the phone to dial Goto -
- when your own cell phone rings. Plucking it from your pocket, you check the screen.

“Redundancy,” you say.
“Use your words, Admiral.”
“You know why me and my girls flew here in a C-5?”
“To bring Hate's ego in one trip?”
You chuff. “No other cargo, actually. It was insurance - if the shipgirls started sliding down the ship/girl spectrum in flight, the C-5 had a lot more wiggle room before the extra weight put us in the drink.”

You grin, shaking your head and holding up pinched thumb and forefinger. “Baby steps, hun. Baby steps.”
Hamp sits up in the corner suddenly, turning his head like a bird dog that just heard quacks.

That sounds like pure bullshit. In the last block, none of the tutors were mono-Blue. Unless you're using some weird definition of "tutor" to mean "tutor without any restriction". A tutor is just something that searches for a card in your library, regardless of the restrictions placed on it.

I'm actually all for seeing Green get polymorph. I'm also all for seeing Blue lose it's bullshit one-way exile under the lazy pretense that it's "fixing" Pognify-style polymorph. Stop being lazy and biased for Blue, Maro.
