So long as the game is good mechanically and thematically, with emphasis on the former, I'll enjoy either. Also I'm thinking of branching more into wargames too.

Low- to medium-complexity wargames and "waro" games (part euro part wargame, for example Mare Nostrum) with support for 4+ players that can be played in less than 5 hours. Hexes allowed, but not counters.

Just how fucked depends on where the gate opens.
Megacorp controlled sector: After a horrifically one-sided slaughterfest, I can see the megacorps ruthlessly exploiting the locals. On the plus side, the people in that world are used to fighting monsters so with a little training they should be helpful against the Dark Legion.
Dark Legion controlled sector: You poor bastards..... Algeroth's legions pour through the gate and start slaughtering everything in their path. Then the Dark Apostles erect Black Citadels and start processing the entire population into Necromutants, Undead Legionaries or worse.
Arguably Earth would be the best scenario I doubt Whitestar is interested in sending an expeditionary force through what is almost certainly a Dark Legion trick. I still would give those orcs and romans about a day before they wander into a Radioactive hot zone and die puking.

Dodge and Parry tests directly subtract DoSes from incoming attacks on a one-to-one basis instead of "Successful Dodge/Parry blocks the attack/dodges one hit per DoS for multiattacks". It's cleaner and more intuitive for us and seems more reasonable than core.
So, got a question. We're starting up a Deathwatch game. We've got an Ultramarine Tactical Marine who wants to go Deathwatch Captain, a Red Scorpions Apothecary, an Imperial Fist Breacher Marine who wants to go Phalanx Warder (I got the pdf off one of these threads), and an Iron Hands Techmarine. I'm the GM.
We're going to be in the galactic south, to avoid Tau and Necrons. What are some of the most common enemies in the galactic south, and what would the political situation between the Deathwatch and the Imperial Adeptae be like down there? Do you think such a team can deal with political intrigues, or are they too punchy? FFG's books seem to focus on their Jericho Reach only, so i'm at a loss.

Of all the terrible parts of planescape, the lady is clearly the worst. She's almost 40k tier in its over the top stupidity, but the 'satirical' excuse. It's a fucking miracle that planescape: torment was able to rise above the cage of its shitty setting to be as good as it is.
