Min-Max edition! Storytellers, do you dislike when your players minmax? Players do you minmax?
I just had my first player to not min-max in some regard hand me his sheet. I'm so excited for this game /tg/.
Reminder that morke and holden are liars
>do you dislike when your players minmax?
Trying to be better at what you do is a perfectly rational aspiration. The greatest invention of mankind, from spaceflight to the Internet is built on this yearning. Min-maxing is not only ok, but I respect deeply people who do it.
>>44829249
>Players do you minmax?
One of the first things I heard about the game is that you just gotta do it. And I have been, but I honestly out my character together in a hurry and made some dumb choices, so I think it really balances out.

Dryad punchdept, SR4A.

Her character was still alive at the end of the campaign, so, alright I guess?
>>44828474
I'd like you to stop and consider how creepy this question is.
>>44828474
The GM's daughter, super sweet Catholic girl.
In the game I played with her she played an ultra-moral Paladin who spoke like once per session. She always wrote down what he said and then had her dad read it, because her voice was really squeaky and his was really deep, and she didn't think she could convey the badassitude in her own voice.
The character was super awesome. He died in the final battle, but it was a good death. I hope she's doing alright. I had a falling out with her dad over some business, and I haven't seen her since. It's really sad to lose friends because of work.

Not the actual maturity level of a 10-13 year old but that which people play them to.
Nothing brings a game to a halt like someone throwing a tantrum or being a screeching banshee because they think that is how all fucking preteens act. This shit does not happen as often as what you think, even in the behavioral/ese school I teach at.

Previously on Military Mage: You, Matsushita Miyako, mage-soldier to the Transdimensional Mage's Peacekeeping Alliance, underwent your contraction ceremony with your squad. It was a grueling process but you come out stronger for it, gaining more power and becoming a Private Second Class. You were then assigned to the 475th Training Brigade and after recieving orders from your platoon commander, Takahashi Miura, you set out from Magical Education Facility Thirteen and onwards towards the borderworld of Eranku to mount a counter offensive against the Imperial forces present on the planet.
The inside of the craft was silent. Kazue twiddled her thumbs and Chikako stared at the floor. You looked at Squad 721 at the other side of the shuttle as it travelled through space. It was comprised of four boys and one girl. The girl was sleeping, her hat covering her eyes as she attempted to slump down in her seat. The silence dragged on in the gray, metal interior of the shuttle before it eventually stopped, the rattling of the overhead handles giving way to an even greater silence. Takahashi unbuckled her seatbelt from the front and entered the main area of the ship, gripping a handlebar.
"Attention!" He says, and the rest of the shuttle perks up, their eyes focused on the Lieutenant. "We're gonna be together for who knows how long, so may as well get to know each other. Introduce yourselves."
Maiya took the lead. "Fujimura Maiya. Sergeant."
One of the guys from Squad 721 tapped his friend's shoulder. "Tatsuo Iwata. Sergeant." He said.
"Iguchi Yochino. Private First Class." Said another guy.
"Mitake Osamu. Private Second Class"
"Yuki Sumaro. Lance Corporal."
Last was the girl. "Matoba Aiko. Private Second Class."

You are Brianna la Croix, journeyman necromancer, and you have to treat a severe case of iron poisoning in a fairy.
This would be a lot easier if you had even the tiniest clue what you were doing.
>>44823614
"You, slab, now," you bark at Silence, and the fairy hastens to obey. You pull your knife from your belt and cut her clothes away because fuck if you're going to waste time trying to carefully undress her, and it's looking bad.
Silence's right side, from her hips to her shoulder, has iron fused to it. There's some on her arm too, though in small enough amounts that you feel comfortable cutting it away. The fairy hisses at the feeling of steel biting into her flesh but doesn't complain.
"You," the medic you're addressing looks up, "liquor, now."
"We need it to - oh merciful gods," she murmurs, looking down at your patient. A jug of whiskey is handed to you, which you pass to Silence; Silence drinks it like it's going to be outlawed.
"Do you need your organs to live?" you ask.
Silence nods, still packing away the whiskey.
"Have you ever had iron poisoning this bad?"
Shake of the head, throat still visibly moving as she works her way through the liquor.
"Any advice?"
Silence throws the empty jug aside. "Not really," she slurs.
Fuck.
> Try to cut the iron away, worry about long-term effects later.
> Have Kat leave her post to help you peel the iron away. It'll hurt a lot more, but Silence is tough. The shock shouldn't kill her, right?

The Story So Far: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=hellborn
1-50 Thread Summary: http://pastebin.com/DYy8w24r
51-100 Thread Summary: http://pastebin.com/wx3HtRT5
You are Sierra Beckhoff, and you are the Imperiate – the one true tyrant of the thousand hells. That is, if you can survive long enough to reclaim your inheritance.
In order to ensure you’re kickass enough to take your varied enemies head on, you’ve decided to rush forward with operation mad gains. Tonight, you and a motely crew of your selection will telezap into Canada. There you’ll go tripping over to the shores of Lake Superior to claim the anchor node of an elemental spirit, and master its power as your own.
Borislav Zerevskii, Muir Woods’ resident druid, had ordered you to chill the hell out before your showdown with the ancient elemental. Except now your kind of dad-person Isaac decided to invite himself along for the ride. Which is cool, you guess.
Anyway, after this homely family barbeque (where your boyfriend guy is present), it’ll be about time to prepare yourself for an incredible Canadian journey. Though not as incredible as the road trip you just returned home from, let’s get that straight.
If you mess up this spirit business, you’ll be too weak to confront your myriad enemies. King Yellow, Sulkrasph the shadow master, and the Stygian Grand Wyrmwrither Ushologuissa all have reasons to want you gone, and you’re running out of time.
--
You squint at the picture of you and Ossifera, the dragon whose only dream was to acquire beach front property, and come to the only conclusion one can conclude. “Forget glitter,” you tell Harvey, “put like an edgy high-contrast filter on it, with some urban graffiti font that’s like ‘Dealing with Dragons’.”
Everybody has a good chuckle at your suggestion. Obviously you know best how to present your dragon pics on the internets.
>>44823343
Except Wolf. “Why not this one?” he asks, reaching out to swipe Rowan’s phone and get a picture that actually includes details, details like scales and facial features.
“Gotta keep the magic alive, Wolf,” you chide, inhaling about half a hamburger as you explain. “No mere image could hope to capture the sheer majesty and near-sightedness of Ossifera the Splendorous, Mistress of the Whited Plains.”
Harvey nods in learned agreement. “The lack of photorealistic quality is an invitation to the imagination,” he says.
Wolfgang sighs, defeated.
You knock your knuckles on his shoulder. “If you really need your dragon fix, you know, if you’ve got the shakes, I’ve been there man,” you say. “I think Vikrama uploaded the raw footage to YouTube – raw unadulterated dragon, as much as you can stand.”
“Through the cheap digital lens of my cellphone camera,” Ro adds, smiling helpfully.
Isaac prepares another hotdog for himself, and cracks open a can of root beer. “So long as you don’t try to pass if off as a real dragon,” he says. “The last thing Ossifera’s ego needs is for her to become an internet phenomena as proof dragons are real.”
Cassandra laughs. “Most people prefer their fantastic things to be strictly fiction,” she says. “Don’t go depriving the people of their fundamental right to an ignorant sense of security.”
“You mean their fundamental right to a freedom from fear?” asks Wolfgang, sounding a little sour.
>>44823353
“Oh, call it whatever helps you sleep at night,” she says, a twinkle of mock sympathy in her eye.
“Great. I think I will, Mrs. Hallow,” he says sarcastically.
But you, you’re just glad to see everybody getting along.

Barbeques have a way of ending when you run out of food. You don’t run out of food, but you run out of your ability to consume more food, which has a similar effect.
You still have the whole day and evening ahead of you, time you have to prepare for your excursion to conquer a spirit and avoid getting murked by a bunch of demons in a back alleyway.
But how will you prepare, and who will you take with you, besides Isaac and Borya?
Like, you could just chill, or maybe hang out with somebody. Or maybe you should prep with Moriah? She hasn't had time to do the research, but she knows about ghosts. Or maybe somebody in the conclave knows more about this type of thing.
And then there's all those guns and weird things from your Dad. Maybe you should try some of them out? Or maybe you should talk to a heavy-weight magic person, like Mr. Crowther or Ms. Song.

What kind of quests could a person pursue in real life?
>>44823232

>>44823259
What about quests which don't make you suicidal?
You are Irue Valen, blood heir to House Valen, and... You don't really have time for this. It's now roughly midday in the town of Carona and you just got out of your meeting with the Shrine. You had made the decision to trade your knowledge of the Ice Queen's Atelier to the Shrine in exchange for cultivating a stronger relationship with them, as well as gaining their support in your activities, giving you quite a few more options in regards to how you handle your problems here.
It was an odd feeling, suddenly realizing you have a powerful political force backing your actions. While this, by all rights, shouldn't be an alien concept to you, the last few months of your life had been a jarring crash-course in reality for you. A reality where in you had no real authority anywhere, despite your position in House Valen.
Still, it wasn't something you could become complacent over. They promised support, not to do things for you. Even if they had, it wasn't something you think you could have accepted with a clear conscious. You were here to get your Testament back, and everything else was just another step towards that goal. If you had to forcibly depose the Mayor and overturn an underground freedom revolution, burning Carona to the ground in the process, then it was a... hehe... Sacrifice you were willing to make.
Hahaha... Ah. Sacrifice. That was a good one.
Seriously, fuck this town.
You take a breath at the top of the Shrine stairs and look out over the bustling afternoon activity of Carona. You have no money, so buying resources was still out of your reach, but you did have quite a few things still on your mind. Jill had said she would help you look into getting your Testament back, so you should probably check in on her later tonight, just to make sure she hadn't gotten herself into any trouble. While you had successfully pulled the Shrine into helping you intercept the invitation to Roderick you had 'helped' set up, you still had the lead regarding Taggart to follow in hopes of finding your way into the metaphorical underground.
You hoped it was the metaphorical underground, anyway. If there were any more things actually hidden under Carona, then you'd have to step up your dreams of purging this place with fire to something more deeply penetrating. Like... More Fire.
Double Fire.
And then there was the matter of your peasant knights. Something had started to make its presence known around Carona, and whether it was dangerous to them or not, you wanted your knights both IN side and AT your side in case a fight broke out. The backing of the Shrine is a great boon in that regard, but it's not the same as having your own people with you. Getting them inside was another thing on your To-Do list.
You have a day and a half left.
Your current face is that of an older Irue, with braided hair and a conspicuous lack of red eyes.

I can't, going to sleep, hope this quest will still be alive when I get up.
Fighting flares up once more on the surface of the Stonestar Moon, Ahkam forces launching into a sudden suicidal charge against their orthodox cousins. Storms rage around the planetoid, rains unable to quench the flames surrounding the wreckage of two sub-capitol ships where the fighting was fiercest.
There is a ground-shaking explosion as another flaming bulk of a ship punches through the clouds lighting the dark moon as it detonated against the side of the massive volcano. The Lavafathers mountain belches forth great jets of molten stone in a sudden fury as molten constructs stride from glowing pools.
High above the planet Agona's forces hunt down the remaining fighters and dropships, shredding them in a vicious dogfight. Punisher Agona stands in the bridge of her ship watching the remaining ship detonate under another salvo of spine cannon fire from her ships. Another screen showed the world of Rukor where the remaining Ahkam craft draw in their forces and angle their ships toward the gas giant.
Agona turns to the screen with your skeletal face looming over Lorgul and Nekris' own screens. Thumping her fist to her armored chest she salutes, "The Ahkam ships have been destroyed with minimal effort and losses. The rest appear to be readying themselves for a counter attack."
Lorgul interjects from his seat in the cockpit of his Void-Terror, "What are your orders, Lord Jadyk? Send me and my Disciples into battle and we will bring your fury to Rukor."
Predator Nekris stands on the bridge of his submerged corvette with his cloak and armor adorned with the bones of the Diver Sunscales and salutes as well, "My forces are small but we will strike them as their back is turned, just give the order."
They all look to you and await your guidance. It was time for war and your generals thirsted for battle and so they shall have it.

“It's time to wake up desu wa.” a familiar voice beckons you.
You fitfully shuffle your lethargic body around trying to get into a more comfortable position. You ignore that voice to try and get some more sleep.
“Get up desu wa!” the familiar voice yells at you, having none of it.
You force your eyes open against the blinding light to see Cecilia floating in front of you.
“Good morning desu wa.” Cecilia says with a smile.
“Good morning.” you tiredly reply as you look at her.
Wait a minute. Cecilia is floating in front of you wearing some unknown outfit but that isn't what is strange. Cecilia is tiny, barely a foot tall, and is floating there without a care in the world. Now that you think about it, where are you?
You are John Smith, only know male IS pilot, and you don't know where you are. You don't remember what you were doing before you woke up nor how you arrived here. In fact everything in your head is a jumble of fragments and half thoughts.

You slowly get up from where ever you were laying down. You try to rummage through your thoughts as you try to figure out what is going on. Then it dawns on you, you need to get more information on what is going on.
