Help me build this, /tg/
I want to make a character like Tien from Dragon Ball in the sense that I want a character who focuses on hand-to-hand or martial combat, but also has a very powerful energy attack that he can use on occasion.
My friend insist on using Pathfinder so that's what I'm limited to.
What stats and more importantly class/race would you use to make a character who can do this sort of thing?
Also if you can think of a system that could do it better, let me know. I probably won't be able to use it, but I'd like to look into it.

Monk seems like the obvious choice, right? But it doesn't really offer powerful ki attacks like Tien's Dodon Ray. Maybe there's a better subclass of Monk?

Group I was in, ST of an Edge of the Empire game dropped Tony in as a "friendly" NPC named Jack, who wore a Nexu mask.
Somehow, he and the Protocol Assassin Droid hit it off. The Outlaw Tech, not so much, unless you count knocking somebody out every time you meet them as a sign of friendship.
How would you handle an MMO tabletop?
Not a tabletop set in the world of an MMO, but a game that's meant to take place in an MMORPG.
I'm thinking of taking inspiration from Eclipse Phase, since treating your body like equipment is a core aspect of that game, but I'm sure there's a better way.

The idea for the game is that it's 20XX and most things are done through virtual reality. Even stuff like shopping is handled in virtual malls, and you can have the real thing delivered to you.
The core focus of the game is on a massive MMO that just happens to also be connected to other VR networks because it's all by the same company or some such, everything is connected, whatever. I'm still figuring that out. One of the AIs has gone rampant and is corrupting things in The World, and even causing sickness in the real world through emerging Agent Smith...

That doesn't really cut it for what I'm talking about. The game is meant to revolve around replicating the mechanics of an MMO.
In addition to the character swapping, I'm thinking stuff like Friends Lists and Group Chat would be treated the way other games treat Telepathy spells.

My fighter would action surge and the king full of four sharp-shooter arrows for 1d8+15 damage. Plus extra if applying Battlemaster dice.
He would then, upon bringing the guy to 0hp, claim "Nonlethal takedown" as the rules of 5e permit, sending the kind unconcious but stable then shackling him in manacles and looking for someone responsible to care for him.

Just came back from postapocalyptic LARP. I've played as merchant and it was really fun. I've tricked some people, I lied with my every word and I've got annihilated by TNT taken by Lunatic to bar, where I was sitting with other characters.
Do you like LARPs /tg/? Or do you prefer less dynamic games or games with no face to face contact?

Just returned from a ren fair kind of thing. It's an annual fair in an old castle, and they have a whole area designated medieval. Imagine when you see a topic about firearms in fantasy settings and people go to ridiculous lengths to justify the coexistance of melee weapons and firearms like saying the very chemical compounds to make gun powder don't exist or something stupid like that. I can't remember any. There's Ryu's ghost army from LotR but they were there because they fucked up, not out of duty.
In TV Tropes, I don't think that trope exactly exists. It's a combination of purpose-driven immortality and a Revenant.
But because Our Revenants Are Different, they can just be a subtype of Revenants. Usually Revenants want revenge (Unfinished Business), but this Revenant has a purpose to fulfill, but the purpose doesn't have a due date.

Dear /tg/ I come to you with a question that's been vexing me for years.
What is the actual origin of the "metal bikini" trope? It certainly doesn't exist in the original versions of the fantasy short stories and novels often associated with it (like ERB's John Carter or Howard's Conan). I would guess that since bikinis became super-popular in the 50s that it's from fantasy literature or art made after that, but I honestly can't find any information.

I noticed that there was not Mage: The Ascension jump on the drive. I've done a quick check, but haven't found any reference to anyone currently working a jump for that setting.
As such, I'm going to start work on a Mage: The Ascension jump. I don’t really care if anyone makes another Mage: The Ascension jump, so long as any later author also doesn’t care if anyone else makes another Mage: The Ascension jump.
