I'm working on a weird war setting idea for 90's/gulf war/modern conflicts, and need ideas for arms race spawned boondoggles, strange opperations, asymmetrical applications of super science, and some notable battles and army men to fill out the setting. Post modern military oddities, cool old prototypes, and at least semi-realistic art.

This is going to sound really gay but do you guys know of any decent painting services or individual painters that could do a (small) army's worth of models? I just can't handle my backlog anymore and I prefer to take my time on individual models for the skirmish wargames I play and D&D game i'm in, which isn't very productive toward big ass armies like in KoW or 40k. But I hate showing up every other week with an unpainted army..
Would a Dragon taking the Longevity mythic universal ability lose the age-category penalties to its Dexterity? While they *are* in-step with its size increases, the dex penalty is (like all the other age mods) specfically a factor of the age category, and not a size bonus or penalty.
If the country of North America was somehow teleported to a standard fantasy world, what would be the immediate repercussions? Would they be able to keep the Internet going? Would schools have to teach Dwarvish and Elvish?

For me, it's simply the people who play it. This hobby attracts some very neurotic people, and some extremely self-centered types too. Sometimes both! I firmly believe that "finding the right group" is more important than even the system you're playing.
It is frustrating how much time it takes to get an RPG campaign going.
By the time people settle on which system to use, which variant rules to use, which house-rules are applied, which setting we're playing in, what particular playstyle we want, and finally do the damn character sheets... most of the players have left.
Sometimes, I wish people just played one game and stuck to it. It does not (and really should not) cover every possible setting and playstyle: just choose one and stick with it, damn you.

Thematic EC Issues Edition Alternative Crusade? What system has the best sword Fighting/close combat rules.
Really want a good fantasy/dark ages game and D&D 5e doesn't cut it for me. I need something more deadly and D&Ds characters with huge pools of hit points isn't working.
I mean, you could just dial down the total amounts of HP if that's your main issue. Or go for AD&D if you want a change of pace but not necessarily a completely foreign system.
If overall combat isn't thrilling you, maybe check out the Song of Ice and Fire system or second edition Warhammer Fantasy RPG. The latter's a bit more focused on how badly your shit gets kicked in, but they're both a bit less hit-soaky than D&D.
