/tg/, please help me. If you ever need an example of what happens to someone overwhelmed by choices, you're looking at him. After re-reading the Ballad of Edgardo I want to get involved in SOME sort of fucking RP but I have no idea where to go or what to do.
I realize there are threads on here and shit but... I don't fucking know. I don't just want to jump in to some random game when there's so many out there. I've played D&D4 and 5 a couple times, and did a bit of Call of Cthulu, but I'm at a loss for where to go to do some RPG stuff due to so many fucking options being available.
I don't have anyone around to do shit with (Seriously. My neighborhood is full of older people and little kids.), and at the moment, I can't drive anywhere, so it'd have to be online which is part of the problem.
Help getting started somewhere on here would be nice. I just want somewhere to go because I'm completely clueless. In terms of what kinds of RPs I'd be into if you want to suggest something (Or even just a site, or particular thread on here) to visit, basically anything really. Preferably nothing mundane/boring but really I'd try just about anything. I just want to get involved somehow. Thanks in advance, anons.
Grab another rulebook if you want to do D&D 5th Edition, This doesnt even go in depth about character creation, which is important.

The easiest games to find a group for are Pathfinder and 5E.
Since online seems to be your only hope, try Roll20 or gamefinder threads on tg and hope you find a decent group. online people tend to be flakes/weirdos/busy people but you might get lucky and find a sane and stable steady gaming group.
As for other games just think about stuff that interests you and look into things that catch your eye.
genres like Fantasy or cyberpunk or settings like Star Wars or Dresden Files.
and try to be familiar with the rules of the game. nobody likes explaining stuff all the time.

I'm wanting to start a campaign in my homebrew world with a small group of new to medium experience players.
Can't decide if I should use Pathfinder or 5e for my ruleset, or if there's any other ruleset I should consider.

D&D is a rather narrowly-targeted game, and isn't ideal for much other than dungeon crawling, or something very similar. It's about exploring and looting a dangerous area, with an emphasis on combat (even earlier editions, where it paid to avoid combat whenever possible, saw plenty of battle and were mechanically built around it). There's a strong to extremely strong power progression (depending on the edition), and the world is high magic. If all of that is what you want, that's great. But...

Relatively new to RPGs, specifically DnD 5e.
My group's current DM is handing me the mantle of DMing for DnD games, because he wants to focus on becoming more familiar with other R{Gs, namely Dark Heresy. I have poured over the TPH, TMM, and DMG. The technical aspects I think I can handle.

Failure isn't essentially lethal
Failure could be getting chased off by something far stronger, failure could be failure to successfully catch their target so on an so forth. And it's good to throw in the occasional "one or two of you will probably die" fight as long as they know it's that deadly and are the ones marching into it.
Put in the danger, just don't make the danger unable to be circumvented and don't make all potential fail states death and there you go...

As an Addition to this a lot of times it's best to use failing forward rather than outright failure to prevent plot and gameplay failing.

I've had the best luck with FFG's Star Wars systems. If your campaign is going to be more adventurous, go with Edge of the Empire. If more military, go with Age of Rebellion. If more mystical and focused on the Force, go with Fate and Destiny.
So how bare bones are we talking?
Rip off the shitty parts of the EU (that are no longer canon) and try to make them better.
Such as including Trioculus and Triclops, who both are three-eyed mutants.
I might try some existential horror where they are literally the only people in the world. Everything looks normal, but there is no other person besides the players.
Creepy things lurking around every corner... did aliens destroy humans? Are they in hell? Perhaps this is some nightmarish coma? Or maybe this is the life we all live anyway. A lonely ass fucking existence with maybe a few people we blindly have to trust or it's nothing at all as we wander around trying to make sense of shit.
Yeah it's really hard to do horror when you're a nihilist.

You could try making the world like some kind of pale shadow of the real thing, like everything has been drained from it. It's populated by near invisible monsters of fog or something. There could be implications that everyone was shaped into something else, something Other, but there aren't nearly enough of them for that. Maybe one person doesn't equal one monster?
Otherwise the place is simply empty, with the occasional attack by some shade of the world that was.

What is the best destruction blaster maximum damage magic build for pathfinder?
Dual-Bloodline Sorceror.
Make your first bloodline Elemental so can automatically change all damage spells to a second element.
Make your second bloodline Draconic, in a color that matches your elemental bloodline, giving you a boost to all your element-converted spells.

Blaster mages are pretty weak compared to support/debuff magic builds, unless you're spending alot of time fighting large groups of enemies. That being said, they're not awful, and there are a few ways to about this.
Sorcerers: Do what the previous poster said and mix elemental and draconic bloodlines. It's not a huge boost, but it's also not a huge penalty to take the Archetype (-2 will saves) unless you're facing alot of charm/illusion enemies.

If all you want is truly damage, crossblooded sorcerer with the orc and draconic bloodlines and the bloodline mutation for blood havoc. That gives you 2 bonus damage per dice on every spell with one extra damage per dice when dealing damage of a chosen element. Then you take varisian tattoo and bloatmage initiate to pump your caster level, and use intensify spell whenever possible because you'll have some dead levels where you have spell slots but no spells known to use in them.

Despite the having all the problems of a license product i'm actually a big fan of the mechanics myself.
It has interesting ways of doing character house creation, ability stats, as well as social combat and mass combat.
I always liked the idea of a D6 dice pool system which doesn't need a buckets worth of them.
It's alright, our group played a campaign of it recently and had a good deal of fun.
Great system, great mechanics, don't use mass combat rules because they stink.
I've tried a couple of times to get a game running in my area, but they've always fizzled out due to lack of interest. Should be fine for an existing group, though.
