Hi guys. Wasn't sure whether here or /v/ would be better for this, trying you guys first, will go there if no good answers.
I'm interested in video games based on traditional/tabletop RPG systems. Pathfinder is what i'm most familiar with, but i'm open to anything really. I just have a craving for a singleplayer environment to play with between sessions. Was supposed to be playing with my group tonight and 4/6 of them didn't show for various reasons.
I'd like some games in this genre i can play without having to depend on others showing up
Pic related is the most obvious one that comes to mind, but it's old, i've already played it to death. looking for something a little newer.

(i) The goldbox games should be played by any RPG fan. As for the game(s), picture a blobber interface and a top down interface for the battles. Highly recommended.
(ii) The wizardry series (I-VI). Strictly a blobber series. The series will give you everything you would want in a blobber. Cartography from hell.
(iii) Might and magic - Island of Terra
These (i) - (iii) are essential and will bring you much closer to the RPG genre. Highly recommended!

Also, all of those are even older than NWN2. Is there nothing relatively modern that's deserving of a recommendation?

Pillars was okay
I don't want to say it was bland, because it had a very particular flavor, but that flavor was kind of... dry and boring, I thought. The setting itself, the whole muskets-and-zweihanders-and-plate-armor-and-natural-philosophy. Eh.
A lot of the good /tg/ games are old. I've been playing the shit out of KotOR II for the past two weeks and totally forgotten how balls to the wall awesome it was.

You find yourself sitting, alone, at the bar.
It wasn't so long ago that Lucy – Lucifer, in the guise of a perky young girl – sat in the stool next to where you currently sit, offering you the chance of more work. Bloody work, you're sure. You turned her down, and she left with apparent good humour, but you're not quite convinced. It bothered you enough that, when the time came to take a seat, you didn't even touch the one she had used. It's been a hell of a day – and it's not even close to being over yet.
Standing behind the bar, still looking far from comfortable, Mister Black meticulously polishes a single glass. He wipes it with a cloth, holds it up to the light for a second and then goes right back to wiping it. There's something hypnotic about watching it, so much so that you're almost disappointed when he finally puts the glass away. Sighing, you turn your gaze, instead, to the rows of bottles behind the bar.
Startling you from your thoughts, Cassandra plops down on the stool next to you. Approaching with utter discretion, Mister Black places a pair of glasses in front of you – one of water, the other of wine – and then vanishes.

You sit for a while in silence, both staring straight ahead, before Cassandra finally picks up her glass, regarding the dark red liquid within. “To Mastema,” she says, with the slightest hint of mockery in her voice, “And to Lucy.”
Implying, you suspect, a certain desire for Lucy to share that angel's fate. Murmuring her words back to her, you take your glass of water and tap it against hers. It's an odd moment – you're not exactly celebrating his death, but you're not mourning him either. It's almost like you're not sure how you feel about it, or what you should do next.
“World's a better place without him,” Cassandra says simply, looking down into her glass of wine, “I know, not very charitable of me to say so, but it's true. The world doesn't need scheming manipulators any more than it needs overt tyrants.” She turns to you, a small smile playing around the corner of her mouth, “Wouldn't you agree?”
You just wanted a rest, you think bitterly to yourself, not to engage in mind games.
“I know, I know,” Cassandra holds up her hands, “Rude. Not what you're here for. That's fine – it's a topic for another day. I did want to talk to you for a bit though, about your immediate plans. There's still a lot going on out there – fallen angels, rampaging monsters, that kind of thing.”
A lot of bloody work, in other words.
“Not all of it,” she insists, “Just, I guess, most of it. You could always go and talk with Titania if you feel like something peaceful – that is, if you were serious about that alliance thing.” Shrugging, Cassandra turns back to her glass of wine, peering down into the depths. You feel, in some small way, like she's testing you.

It's D&D done by mostly not role playing people but I think it's still fun. Just the one episode though.

I still do this day do not understand why you insist on doing it that way. All that does is encourage quick samefagging and discouraging write ins.

That could very well be the case, which might explain his vehement refusal to say anything about him. Either way, the list of potential has been narrowed down from anyone living in Berlin to 'relatives of Kramers'. Because Yasu's daughter was the one to marry into that family, it's likely that her surname and the surnames of her children have been changed from their Japanese ones. Perhaps first names as well.
