Here's something I threw together in a few minutes. It's my first piece of poetry, so I know it's probably shit.
Off the trodden path, into the thickets,
the frightened boy beaten, shaken, and having small fidgets,
he looks about him to see if the abuser follows,
a pair of legs walk by, the poor boy swallows,
it's the village artisan, a man with no morals,
he gets physical when dealing with quarrels.
Back in his shop, in the middle of day,
the boy, he admits, broke some pottery in play,
he tried to apologize, he really did,
but the man was upon him, he - only a kid.
The man gave chase, the devils in him riled,
the bruised boy escaped into the wild,
he escaped his rage, in that he was relieved,
he took a look behind him, the distance he achieved.
He had never been this far off the main village path,
he only strayed to escape the man's wrath,
in this untouched wilderness he felt unusually calm,
though untamed, wild, and covered in jagged palm.
As for how he would get home, he did not care,
he sat down by himself, for peace and quiet is rare.
