I've long had an interest in history. I used to like to read about ancient Rome. I'm also part Italian. My ex girlfriend cruelly broke up with me and went to study abroad in Italy where she claimed to be happier than ever and now refers to Rome as "home" despite having only been there three months. I can't think of Italy (or other interests we shared) without becoming angry, which is difficult because its part of my heritage and part of the roots of our civilization. Ive been focusing on what america has to be proud of and how we are the modern rome, but it still comes up. Until I can travel there myself someday, what can I do to get over this?
