I did a kinda scientific test with Tinder
Case 1: set tinder with my real pictures trying to look as normie as possible, uploaded a picture with 'friends' (random people actually), traveling around the world (a trip I did with my mom), with my super car (a ferrari I found in a garage) and other bullshits I even shoop me a bit...
Results: 1 match out of 100 mostly landwhales and the semi decent girls I matched only answered with 'yes', 'no', then stop replying.
Case 2: set the pics of a random guy of my school, he is kinda popular and above average looking at best, but not model tier or anything

Neatest sites are without JS and even CSS -- browsers' builtin sheets are most soothing to the eye. Visuals only obscure the true, immortal beauty of the function.
