Why are people still falling for the Loomis meme in 2016? Loomis books are objectively boring and useless. Want to learn fundamentals? Get the Scott Robertson and Feng Zhu Gnomon dvds. Want to learn to construct the figure? Get the Michael Hampton book and subscribe to Proko. Want to improve your figure drawing? George Bridgman and Burne Hogarth. Want to broaden your knowledge of anatomy? Glenn Vilppu and Scott Eaton's videos. There is literally not a single reason to be reading Loomis in the year of our lord 2016.

What websites have you guys used to find models in your area? And what's a good hourly rate to pay models?
I just ask my friends, or girls want to model for me, but this is because i am a photographer but i also ask if i can live paint using them as models they usually say yes.
Other than that just ask friends and have a good portafolio they would probably model for free if your good.
If you don't have any friends, you can contact your local life drawing classes (Google : cityname + life drawing) and ask if they can put you in touch with their models.
If you're a cheap asshole, use model mayhem. Be prepared for egotistical teenagers.

I also recommend you do 2 segments on basic shapes, not going into detail and the finale 2 segments based on some form of human anatomy or complex mechanical forms that you may find in.. say a stripped down engine for example.

What works for me is, instead of drawing something and polishing it, I draw the thing I want to draw with minimal detail, usually smaller too. Then I draw it again changing what doesn't feel right, and then again until I can feel good about it. Then I polish it.
Even if it's polished shit, I know I tried my best to elevate it from being shit before polishing.
I need some opinions on whether to buy a Wacom cintiq 2nd hand or a surface pro for less money, I want to be able to take which ever anywhere and to be able to stream and draw at the same time. Any opinions are helpful.

For me, I always buy equipments like this brand new rather than 2nd hand in order for you to avail the warranty it has.
Also, if you buy a 2nd hand gadget, try to buy something refurbished from the manufacturer or someone you trust.
Or , if you are patient enough, try to wait until the price drops before you buy it. Nothin bad with buying an older tech as long as it does the job.
