I just ask my friends, or girls want to model for me, but this is because i am a photographer but i also ask if i can live paint using them as models they usually say yes.
Other than that just ask friends and have a good portafolio they would probably model for free if your good.
If you don't have any friends, you can contact your local life drawing classes (Google : cityname + life drawing) and ask if they can put you in touch with their models.

Despite the fact that the rules state not to be insulting and instead be constructive with your criticism on here, I'm not surprised that no one here seems to know how to do anything but be a douche to one another, especially people who are very clearly beginners.
So what does constructive criticism mean to you, d/ic/ks? Does it mean yelling "Loomis" and nothing else? Does it mean telling someone they suck, their art is garbage, that they should give up? Does it mean telling someone what areas they need to work on, and possibly how to go about it?
It's obvious what my opinion on this is. I'm not saying everyone needs to compliment sandwich every piece they see. If someone basically rubbed their ass on a piece of paper and is acting like it's God's Gift, then yeah tear them down..
But if it's a beginning artist (or even an advanced artist) and they're asking for advice, crits, what looks off, don't tell them it sucks and nothing else. Don't tell them to brush up on fundamentals without explaining what part of the drawing makes you say that (is the head mis-shapen? figures too flat? Etc).
Someone told me I needed to brush up on my facial structure on a pic I posted.
A different person told me my drawing looked "Fucked up" and nothing else.

Yes. Look, I know it's not nice, but the foundation of criticism is pointing out flaws. "It sucks" isn't great criticism by any measure, but sometimes there's little else to same. What do you say when everything is wrong? And some people just need to be told their work is bad to break through their ego and give them the kick in the ass to work on their art. Some people need that harshness, and this is 4chan, the perfect environment for it.

Obviously this is in no way constructive. The thing about sucking...everyone sucks at some point. Sucking at something is the starting place, but telling someone to give up isn't constructive. You can't get good at anything if you give up.

Ok. What do you say when everything is wrong? This is why Loomis became such a catch-all response, it's far, far easier than typing out a detailed response about why everything is wrong(especially when newbies are so common). And it can be really, really discouraging to anyone new to the hobby to get some essay length criticism about how everything they're doing is wrong. Loomis is a pretty shitty response, but at least it gives a direction and the implied criticism that comes with it - "Your fundamentals are bad."

While I agree that sometimes people's egos are a little too inflated and need to be taken down, I see it said to absolute beginners who aren't confident in their skills and just want some genuine feedback on if they're on the right path or not. I already know what people say to this, "but you don't need to draw well to give good criticism" and that's maybe true, but it's something I just don't accept on principle, I will always value the better artist's view than the shitty stickman drawing guy. Been a long time like a weekish and the thread is long overdue, hopefully what would be great is that if I can't find any time to make a new thread then other anons should do it for me, just like the draw threads.
So as you can tell by the subject of the thread, what we'll be working on today is a concept known as interlocking forms. Like I mentioned ages ago that a warhammer illustration just contains thousands of objects/gradients - likewise those objects in some instances or many can be locked together to form strange and complex objects/shapes. This is the essence of what building an illustration is all about.
So the task for this thread?
Task:
You will need to develop 4 seperate segments showing analysis and study in the concept or interlocking forms.
Each segment will contain 3 phases.
Phase 1: Your drawing phase, here you will draw the forms together, focusing on shape, perspective, scale and line confidence.
Phase 2: You will begin developing your lighting and values, where you will show how that object will be lit in 3 dimensional space.
Phase 3: You will finish with a rendered version of the drawing you began with. Paying high attention to core-shadows, occlusion shadows, bounce-light, direct light, highlights and drop shadows.
If you can make use of 3D software do so as it is useful or you can find a relative source on the internet. I also recommend setting up your own lighting if you have an object that has some form of interlocking going on. For example a mug (Cup) etc.

I also recommend you do 2 segments on basic shapes, not going into detail and the finale 2 segments based on some form of human anatomy or complex mechanical forms that you may find in.. say a stripped down engine for example.

What works for me is, instead of drawing something and polishing it, I draw the thing I want to draw with minimal detail, usually smaller too. Then I draw it again changing what doesn't feel right, and then again until I can feel good about it. Then I polish it.
Even if it's polished shit, I know I tried my best to elevate it from being shit before polishing.
I need some opinions on whether to buy a Wacom cintiq 2nd hand or a surface pro for less money, I want to be able to take which ever anywhere and to be able to stream and draw at the same time. Any opinions are helpful.

For me, I always buy equipments like this brand new rather than 2nd hand in order for you to avail the warranty it has.
Also, if you buy a 2nd hand gadget, try to buy something refurbished from the manufacturer or someone you trust.
Or , if you are patient enough, try to wait until the price drops before you buy it. Nothin bad with buying an older tech as long as it does the job.
