Something you should know about critiques.

Critiques are only valuable if they are from someone with an understanding of art.

If not the critiques are worthless and often bad advice that will make your work even worse.

Never take critique from someone who's skills aren't equal to or greater than yours.

If you cannot realize yourself whether or not a critique is correct, regardless how good or bad the person is who gave it, then you are probably never going to make it. You lack the intelligence and critical thinking necessary for improvement.
>>
>>2432251
not necessarily. any critique may be valuable to someone who is able to be mindful toward viewing their own work. perhaps if you're not capable of that, and therefore not capable of critiquing your own work to an extent, then only instructional critique from those more skilled than you will help.
but otherwise you should be able to glean valuable information from any feedback you may receive.

Does a guy need to be a chef to know if their food is too salty or too dry? Knowing the ins and out of the craft helps, but only having pedestrian knowledge of it doesn't completely invalidate the critique either. In the end, it's up to the individual's best judgement if they should take the critique given and how to apply it.

Also given the nature of /ic/, it would be impossible/impractical/against the spirit of the board to constantly be toting around credentials in order to validate what we have to say.

try deviantart or DrawCrowd (a lot of people hate dA but is still a big community you'll get likes/comments for any crap you upload) there's tumblr ()little better than dA, and for most professional work try behance or artstation. recently i've seen a lot of people using instagram/twitter for their artsy stuff...

first time I've heard of draw crowd.

but boy if it isn't the most laggy art community website on mobile I've ever visited. even dA and pixiv doesn't lag this bad.

Hi /ic/,
slowly I want to start my freelance career.
I noticed patreon would be a nice way to get some money on the side. But unfortunately since january 2015 there was a problem with patreon because of VATMOSS (mini one stop shop law). Which means that you will have to pay individual sales tax for digital trading from europe.

I found this update about patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/1817433
My business english is not the best, that's why my question is:
Is it possible to have a patreon as an european artist now?
Anyone here from europe that...

If you have a bit of income, how about visiting someone who know tax law and can help you with it?
I mean tax advisor or something. In my fucked up country you need to pay taxes if your income pass 1000$ per year.

I don't want to be spoonfed but it's there a list of exercise subjects, like those fit guides?

Like:
Day 1 : Master cubes
Day 2 : Master cilinders
Day 3 : Point one perspective
Day 4 : Values

and so on?

if there's no such training guide, can we make it and made it into a pastebin?

I think Drawabox (google it) handles things in a way that might work for you. It has everything in a lesson-by-lesson format.

No, but you can hire an art instructor or mentor to make one for you and track your progress.

I need our advice, I'm a shitty artist, trying to copy off of others and going through loomis and drawabox. I'm at the point where I want to draw daily and make money off of that, that's the one thing I enjoy. So I thought getting into tattooing would do the trick, as a lot of tattoo artists aren't real artist. No offence but it seems like you just copy and trace. that's not exactly what i want but it would be a start.

I'm interested in getting a apprenticeship, give me your advice here, what would you as a tattooer like to see? what should...

All of the tattoo artists I've know are egomaniac borderline-junkies. Compliment them, demonstrate that you're competent at producing "tattoo style" work (ie, oldschool sailor jerry crap like your pic related), appear to conform to the copy-trace norm, while perhaps displaying a bit of creativity (but not too much because it would probably turn them off)

Once you're in you can drop the act and start building client relationships, and taking creative liberties with people that trust you...

Please. Talk me out of attempting when all I do is fail and make it worse. I'm so tired of trying. But I keep picking up that fucking stylus and trying again. Same shit different day.

So please artists that are actually worth a damn. Please talk me into stopping this dead-end attempt once and for all.

Hey /ic/, need some help picking out a scanner to upload my pages for a graphic novel I am making. I'm using B4 paper, the same as manga artists, for my pages so I roughly need one 12 inches wide 15 inches high, or 12 x 15. Can't find one with those dimensions, only letter sized.

Unless you need a professional grade scanner (in which case be prepared to drop a couple of thousand in it), I'd just grab a multifunction printer that has an A3 scanner, like the Epson Workforce series.

What do you think?
