anyone else have this shit? it's fucking ruining my career
>>2428112
I guess I do.
Maybe that's why I'm so bad at color mixing
>>2428112
Everyone have it, if it's so bad you can't see, then go see a doctor.
Just based off this picture alone, would you take this art school seriously or not?
>>2429389
Show us the teachers and student's work first, this will tell much more.
Probably not worth it, I don't see anything there that can't be learned or too hard to learn on your own.
>>2429398
I can't, I'm too embarrassed to post it. It's really awful. Basically picture 90% of it being pretentious self-portraits.
>>2429409
Well, there's your answer. Pick another school or just buy yourself time for selfstudying instead of going to school at all. If you need a school purely for motivation and discipline sake, then try to find real life art friend and just fuck each other up the asses like all the artists do.
I don't really come to /ic a lot, but I had some canvas and oils so I made this off of a whim only using palette knives.
Thoughts?
It would look a lot nicer if you used the darker paint make out the forms. Right now it's a bit of a mess to look at, but you can make out that it's waves and cliffs if you try. Otherwise it looks like random paint.
So don't consider it finished yet.
Generally people here don't start new threads for critiques, but instead go to a drawing thread or a beginner thread.

while it was loading, from top to bot, and it was showing the top half, it was nice to look at. so I would say using a knife for objects far away, and for light colors is actually good
the bottom half is where I would say it needs some details, ad another layer of objects. this time with something better for details, maybe a smaller knife if that's your thing
tldr: I like the top half, not the bottom one
you should be ashamed of yourself to be so proud of showing this around these parts of town
Is 4chan still anonymous? If so, here's a swastika made of cunts that I drew in class today

After-the-Lock
I want to begin sculpting, particularly bronze or some metal casting into molds.
>Where can I find a solid list of materials do begin with?
>Can I safely do bronze metal casting at home? Or will foundries do bronze casting for you?
>Which materials to begin with are best and most flexible? I've seen the process online, but they never give a list of products they used, temperatures they heat to, etc.
Also if someone could tell me their beginning experiences that...

b-bamp...
Since you're just starting out without supervision and will doubtlessly make mistakes, I would highly recommend taking classes/attaching yourself to an established studio. Molten bronze is nothing to fuck around with, it's not like sculpting with polymer clay and firing in a convention oven to a few measly hundreds of degrees. Learning even just the safety procedures and having a professional helping you through your first few castings will be worth every penny.
What needs to be done to melt that shit, even the process for lost wax casting isn't something...

Suck it up and take classes. If you can't afford the time or money to take classes, you most certainly can't afford to make a home bronze-casting set up. It is not something you can do on your stovetop.
Let's simplify this. Only post if you have gone to school.
I just started but already I notice a lot of pros
Pros:
>Meet new people all artists, who understand your suffering and struggle
>Clubs are great for networking in general or picking up a new skill, for free!
>My school just started a club for collaborating with artists from other majors, to help one another build their portfolios, and even help in the professional aspect (business cards, getting a website,...

if you're at fsu today i'm the autist with two laptops out in the lounge
>>2428429
Why do you have two laptops? I can't even bring myself to bring one with me because lugging that around, and my supplies, and my portfolio, and my purse would strangle me.
>>2428460
one for schoolwork and one for professional
my non-school laptop can't connect to the wifi here but I need to it finish work so extra baggage.
Art print question. I want to print a piece sized 8.5" x 11". Would 300 ppi be a good setting?
Yes.
>>2427343
Thanks!
>>2427313
It depends on the paper and the size of the image. 300 is the minimun
How do I achieve Ruan Jia's rendering skills? No matter how much time I spend on my art, it doesnt get even close to his, whats the issue here?
>>2424154
the issue is he still has spent 20 times your amount of time.
>>2424157
Yeah but how do I improve in rendering? I feel like i make none at all
>>2424161

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.

Anyone know how to translate these runes, I need to know what they say
>>2428398
bump for interest
It seems to be referring to composition, the second being geared more towards composition with a single person/figure in mind.
I'll provide a more thorough translation in a bit.
I dont know if this is the right board... but I made a thing? It is cunning.
Wow cool dude how long did it take you? Full wool?
