WHATS DAT STAND FO'

Is drawing a good hobby for the morbidly obese?

I volunteer with a service that sends people out for a cup of tea and to just have a chat with people who can't leave their homes and never have human interaction, mostly just sad old people who never got married and don't have kids and all their friends are dead, but last month I got assigned to a 600-ish pound guy. He's pretty good but the thing is he can't use his arm to draw so everything he does is with his wrist and he loses his breath and has to have oxygen if he exerts himself that much. Last...

It's times like these where I am grateful I have the ability to do what I love and draw. Poor thing, I would certainly recommend it as he will get into a mind flow and forget about all the troubles for a brief moment even if it is just for a moment it'll be just him and the canvas and whatever he's drawing.

Go for it
>>
>>2425344
Absolutely. If he likes to draw and he's good at it encourage him in every way you can.
Its perfectly fine if he can't draw with his arm! Jeez, if he has no interest in being a professional it means nothing. Let him draw with his wrist.
Drawing has helped me learn discipline and has taken my mind off of impulses like eating, maybe it could do the same for him. It only makes sense. Please keep encouraging him to draw if he likes to do so.
>>
if he's not already drawing on a larger surface see if you can get him one, something he could more easily slide his arm across, sure it might make his work more messy but he'd be able to get more arm motion in there when he needs it (i only use arm motions for certain longer lines, for everything else it's mostly combo of elbow/wrist/fingers)

Art is objective, that is true. But there are certain color patterns, subjects and compositions that resonate with the viewer better then others. Meaning, even though all art is subjective, and everything is art, some work will always and undoubtedly be better then others. Thats it basically. Thats how this whole thing works. Your picture, although it is art, is bland and un-interesting, unoriginal and un-creative. It's shit
>>
>>2423886
>some is undoubtedly better
I'd say better is the wrong term to use there.
More appealing and technically skilled, yes. But better would be personal taste. For example I prefer a picture of a black and white square over anything by kim jung gi. I find the simplicity far more appealing so I'd say its "better". However technically speaking its nowhere near as impressive.
>>
>>2423886
>art is objective

how is it that the as the fact of plural perspective becomes more and more obvious and unavoidable that people more desperately cling to the antiquated notion of objectivism for subjects that constantly and consistently shake off every attempt at an objective analysis?

I don't pay attention to crap like 'spark', 'passion', and 'I was meant to do this'.

I enjoy art. Sometimes I don't, most of the time I do.

I just fucking hate everything else as a career. So Art it is. Not that complicated, right?
>>
You've mistaken something anon.
The "spark" isn't some metaphor for creativity or passion.
The "spark" is your ability to keep on going despite the challenges or despair. The "spark" is what keeps you drawing when everything turns out as shit. The "spark" is what keeps you going, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health.

You don't make it without the "spark", however, there are some who go their entire life without realizing they have the "spark". The "spark" does not care...

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly,...

Bring us your roughs, your storyboards, your pencil tests etc. Talk about industry, schools, the hopelessness of it all, how we all gonna make it etc.

If you're gonna post animation that isn't yours give source or state that it isn't yours.

Keep shitposting to a minimum. Don't feed the trolls.

77 KB,
Serious question here. Are there any great artists that use markers for their professional work? I know about Scott Robertson but most of what he uses them for are sketches anyway, I'm looking for more polished pieces with strong fundamentals. I swear everything else I've found is shitty tumblr artists with tons of copic markers posing them in their instagram tier photos. I want to believe this medium is good but I can't find much material supporting this thought.

I think yoji shinkawa uses some markers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gJQyVfKZJg

Brianne Drouhard uses markers primarily. She's not the most technically impressive artist but her colors and designs make for some very appealing stuff in my humble imho

I'd just keep at it until I was drawing even better than I was before, or I died. If I'm not drawing, I genuinely would lose focus of my life.
