Anybody else here feel intense jealousy of people who are naturally creative?
I'm talking about the type of people who never run out of ideas of what to draw and naturally love to explore new methods and materials to use to reach the next level
I've always been a pretty analytical and pessimistic person but if I could do my life over, I would be some kind of cheerful musician or artist that is always buzzing with imagination and is obsessed with their craft
It seems like they have so much to live for and will never stop striving whereas I'm the complete...

Creativity in itself no, but curiosity is. If you aren't a naturally curious person your gonna have a hard time exploring and striving towards the next great thing.
You're not alone op, i have the same problem
i also wish i had more time to test out all the tools i have, but i feel really limited with everything
im very uncreative and i have very little time, so i end up drawing shitty portraits too often : l

It comes easier to some people than others. There are ways to stimulate your imagination though--watching movies, reading books, playing video games, listening to music, going on walks, travelling, photography etc.
Also not all art has the same goals or pathways. Maybe you do not need the type of creative energy that another artist needs for their work. Do what feels right for you.
So this is my 3rd tattoo(cat) and first large one pre shading, any tips?
You and every other person with tattoos is a real life clown.

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

I don't have one.
Are they useful?
Wouldn't it be more wise to have male and female proportioned ones?
I don't use them for drawing, but preordered these babies last week.
I have a small 5 inch one that use to help with foreshortening.
Sometimes the basic forms in picture aren't really clear, so I bust out the mannequin. It gives you a good sense of how to break the pose down into basic forms, the amount of overlap, etc.
You can do that without a mannequin, but I find that it does really help with approaching extreme foreshortening.
Hello Ic
Who here has worked with gouache? I watched a Watts video and he was saying that gouache is the link between drawing and painting, What are IC thoughts on this? I see great benefit on being able to work with color and learning application of paint with a medium that is not as messy and expensive as oil paints. Also I want to get into gouache and know next to nothing about it. What is the Idea surface to paint on, what are good brands, any other info on Gouache would be greatly appreciated.

bump
me myself am very intrested in gouache, luckily for us its a very straight forward medium.
the surface can be the same as watercolor. arches paper or a thick/multi media sketchbook, also a illustration board for non study/ artpieaces.
i myself am currently gathering supplies for gouache phase I from then i'll be doing allot of outdoor paintings with James gurney as my primary source of learning. yes grab mr gurney's gouache and watercolor lessons they are great and cheap as...

Would that be James Gurney Light and color book? Sounds like you are talking about something different.
Sorry what is CGP?
I am assuming gouache is easy to clean up and could be a medium that you could travel with, easy to use if you don't have a permanent studio thought iC?

isnt it just watercolor with opaque properties?
Can I get some tips on how to improve my artworks please.
That's the worst bait thread yet, and you made me reply anon, you win.

>implying this is better
Silly question, but how do you improve. It just looking at pic related I feel like that will be me in 13 years.
You also got artist like Sycra who have been doing art all day for 13 years and they have beginner tier art.
Yet you get some people who have three years of experience becoming world class.
I don't understand how that happens. Is it the spark? Is it genetics?
Alfgen is better than pic related with only a year under his belt.
>>2513976
you have no idea what youre talking about if sycra has beg tier art.
>>2513976
Take a step back from /ic/ if you think Sycra's art is beginner tier. I really don't want to trigger a Sycra thread, I don't even really like his chin style all that much, but it's top level classic 4chin neckbeard insecurity to call him a beginner.
Anon, just keep drawing, remember to have fun but also look at what you do and see where you need to improve. Some people progress slower than others, and that's fine. If you put yourself under some arbitrary time pressure then you are setting...

Nose shut the fuck up you really arent qualified enough to have an opinion in anything art related, no matter how many pictures you have saved.
The urge to tell posterity “I was here” runs through art from Jackson Pollock, who allegedly hid a giant signature in one of his most famous abstract paintings, right back to Jan van Eyck, the grandfather of oil painting. His masterpiece, The Arnolfini Portrait, contains an elaborate Latin signature on the wall behind the couple, "Jan van Eyck was here 1434", while in the mirror above, two tiny figures, discernible only with a magnifying glass, stand in the position of the artist looking at the scene, one of them – generally presumed to be van Eyck himself –...

I bought acrylics, this is my first painting, i tried an impressionist style. How can I improve?
>>2509273
By buying oils. Your painting looks quite decent though. If only you'd have put in the amount of detail you put in the trees in the wheat and sun, it would have been really nice.
make your paint dryer next time

This. The trees are pretty great
Thread for questions that don't need their own thread.
How do I make fine lines with spraypaint? I am working with some large ass vinyl posters I picked up from the mall(basically free canvases)and want to make some paintings on them. So far the process has been very tedious. I tried masking off areas and even though it works it is taking too long. My first painting already taking me four months going on since I have to work crazy 12/hr shifts. I just want to get this one done. But the problem is stalling since now I have to detail the foreground character.
Should I just get an airbrush kit to do the details? I dunno.
What is a good channel/course for learning how to paint digitally? My linework has gotten very solid over the years and id like to start adding values now.
