I recommend just doing lots of quick colour studies. Spend maybe 20 or 30 minutes on each painting. Set up still lifes, do master copies, studies from photos etc.
When it comes to colour the order of importance goes Value>Temperature>Saturation>Hue.

I've heard 'values are more important than colors' which is true, not "ignore color entirely and just do values" unless you mean people suggesting it as a tool to learn value. You still need to actually learn colors, understand value is just a vital element of that.

I figured with all the cool ref images that are being posted in the ref threads, we might as well revive our old char design challenge threads.
Do a character design based on the ref photo. How close you wanna stick to it is up to you, stylized or realistic, whatever you want. Just no direct studies.

Seconding this thread. Mostly looking for books on the subject. There are a million books on figure drawing but I'm having trouble finding resources on environment art that aren't Alyn Crawshaw's "Watercolour landscapes for pensioners" type books.
Commission thread. how to get into making them, where the best place is to gather them. the best tactics for marketing yourself.
I want to jump in but am a little hesitant. I'm not looking to rake in a shit ton of money, but rather just a little cash on the side. But because of this, I need to set a training regimen to be ready in a month or so. One where I can easily replicate common poses people ask for. I think of doing studies of a handful of successful artist who do commissions and going from there.

If you have been NEET for 2 years though and not done anything then your work ethic will be shit and you aren't gonna be very fast at art either. So it will be next to impossible. It might be better to just wait a year and try for the next one. Is it doable? Yes. Should you do it? No. The big problem is that you're drawing everything in a small amount of time, so it doesn't allow you to explore or experiment, and there won't be any change in skill level. They might pick up on that.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises. Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.

Does somebody have any interesting concept arts/alike from video games with interesting character/location designs? Maybe some suggestions for artbooks? Silent Hill games, and Dark Souls games are really good imo, picture is just of resolution
