If you have the time and the motivation, are there any drawbacks to high volume workouts? I know some in the industry advocate doing the minimum amount of work necessary to drive progress, but if I'm doing 20+ work sets, 6 days a week, and am always working to increase either reps or weight, are there any negative consequences?

I live in a very poor zone
I have been dressing as a vigilante and beating up Jerks and Bullies, mostly gypsies.

I have the luck that I am just a big person (1,95 meters / 6`4 feet) and I have been doing cheap exercises because I cant really afford a gym or weights so I am mostly doing Push-ups, squats and training my abs (dunno how to say the exercise in english)

Are those good substitutes of lifting weights? Should I get something heavy and just lift it?
Need good exercises because this is becoming something more serious and I need to be stronger to make this place a affordable place to live.
