I think it's pretty fucking great
>>63785167
poor man's Signs
Cruise is based though
It had its problems sure, annoying kids, id4 shields, new jersey, no thunderchild, black smoke poison, etc. I did lose my virginity after watching it tho so that was good.

His most underrated is the lost world, but this was pretty good
How do you deal with the soul crushing fact that there will never be a trilogy that will beat The Lord of the Rings?
Reminders in case you forgot that these movies against all odds will go down as the biggest cinema achievement of all time

It wasn't a great trilogy though. It was a good first movie with two okay sequels.
That last scene posted is one of my favorite pieces of fiction

If you think it's GOAT now in it's shit period you should go back and watch early to mid 00's when it was in it's golden age.

Was anybody else disappointed by Captain Phasma?
>really didn't want a Boba Fett clone that stood around and didn't do anything.
>Proceeded to stand around and not do anything.
I don't think she ever even fired her gun, literally held at gunpoint and thrown in the trash.
She better break out of that trash chute and show me why the fuck she deserves to be captain.

How did you know anything about this character before the movie to begin with?
Wasn't it Phasma who was chasing Rey and Finn around with a tie fighter on Jakku?
>>63784824
Because the Disney advertising machine was hyping every aspect and character, as well as plugging that GAME OF THRONES GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE IS IN OUR MOVIE. Then her character turned out to be shit and irrelevant.
Remember how they kept talking up Monica Belluci being in that new Bond film? "The oldest Bond girl ever!"
They'll spout any shit to keep in the news.
Even as a massive Kubric fan I used to hate 2001 (still do a little bit) and ACO.
I couldn't make it through my first viewing of A Clockwork Orange when I first started watching movies as I found it too random, too 70's groovy, needlessly savage and not quite clear of the themes I was approaching, so I'd always put something else on.
This is just a public service announcement to watch the movie if you have ever pondered the meaning of an ultimate morality, state institutions, utopia or justice/punishment/rehabilitation.

I'm in IT, all we ever talked about was robots being sentient and taking over the world, discounting that, what else is there to like about it?
>>63785414
well considering that entire storyline is about a third of it at most, plently
The best thing about The Force Awakens
is that it opens up for many great and memeworthy speculations for the plot of the next movies or backstory.
Let's try posting some
What if Snoke really is that big? I wouldn't mind desu, it made him ethereal, Godlike and just unexplainable. Like he's so in tune with the force that he can become a physical manifestation of God.

who fucking cares!
Name one moment in TFA with as much emotional intensity in this scene.

Character motivation and the "humanity" that JJ so eloquently described as the defining trait of star wars was nowhere to be seen.

The duel between Kylo Ren and Finn had a ton of weight, admittedly not as much as the final fight that 3 movies had been leading up to.
Much better than Kylo vs Rey.

Hello, my name is Mary Sue...
While it doesn't sink the film for me would it be so bad to have this girl be bad at something? She speaks droid, speaks wookie, is an excellent pilot despite the only thing we are told comes from the character's assertion. I could buy that she is tech savvy spending her life tinkering with old parts and scavenging. But literally she just masters any skill the plot calls for at the moment with just enough skill to save the day.
Come on, a character flaw would be nice.
Is there a wookipedia article for this guy?
what are some of the most absurd wookipedia articles?

Knowing Star Wars you can not only do that but make an action figure out of it.
Tell us 3 things you liked and 3 things you didn't like
Liked:
>Poe, Kylo and Finn, great characters all round, and I thought Han worked well. Kylo was menacing, and the bro scene between FInn and Poe was one of the most exciting and hilarious segments in the whole saga.
>The visuals, sfx and sound effects were amazing, lots of great camerawork in the movie.
>Writing. The dialogue is great, both the humor and drama really hits, save for one particular moment in my mind.
Disliked:
>The movie felt too fast paced, like the movie didn't trust its own ability in keeping the audience engaged without speeding to another action scene or funny joke.
>Plot wastes the potential. The plot was blatantly recycled from the originals, even to the point where the major shock moment in the movie basically happened in A New Hope. Some characters could've been amazing, but the writers went routes in the plot that fucked their characters over. Phasma was bland and we didn't see any of her, the Raid actors are amazing at physical combat, and are good actors, yet get wasted in a pointless scene, I loved Kylo Ren's character in the first half, even when unmasked, but I think his plot development happened too fast, I wish I saw more of the Kylo we got in the first act. Maz Kanata was more forgettable than I had hoped for.
>Soundtrack. Probably the most shocking disappointment, John Williams has been the highlight in all the previous 6 movies, now his prescence wasn't felt, the music was bland and forgettable and the old Star Wars music was badly utilized and with poorer arrangements than expected. I really think any other composer could've made a better soundtrack to this film, because they have such a crazy high bar to reach, Michael Giacchino would've rocked, as he could have imitated John Williams' style to the point of sounding alike to the audience, and he isn't 83 years old.
Disliked:
>The bland, forgettable cast. Rey couldn't act for her life, Finn "le funny black sidekick" had some pretty terrible lines, and Kylo had some cringy dialogue as well. Harrison Ford didn't seem to give a shit at all.
>The terrible lightsaber fights. The choreography was extremely simple and the lightsabers behaved like colourful sticks instead of weightless swords. The prequels kinda overdid it at parts with the choreography but they were pretty to the eye at least.
>Plot is a glib fascimile. It's pretty sad that they decided to play it safe instead of coming up with a more original one. There was no suspense whatsoever in the movie.
Liked:
>It ended and I won't get to see it again.
Liked:
>How "raw" lightsabers felt. It really made me realize how fucking dangerous those things are.
>Kylo Ren's character. I wasn't expecting him to be so... childish? But I still loved it either way. I'm a big fan of Adam Driver's line delivery, too, so of course Kylo Ren was one of my favourite things in the film.
>The use of both special and practical effects were a nice touch
Disliked:
>Harrison Ford and Carrie...

>Kylo Ren. I just can't take him seriously he's literally just an edgy fuckboy
>The forced Nazi imagery/General Hux speech. They couldn't think of a way to make root against the First Order without having a discount Adolf Hitler character and a Sieg Heil momentComment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Alright now that the dust has truly settled can we talk about the best character in this new flick? That passion and hatred mang, what a trooper.
TRAITOR
How did his lightsaber not break that thing? I mean Qui Gon and Obi-Wan fucking melted a panzer door in Episode 1 with a lightsaber.
Is that just Some Guy? The stormtroopers are totally faceless drones that get cut down like grass but they pause to have a dramatic one on one between the hero and Some Guy?
For those who have seen it, is pic related true?
Very similar to a new hope, but to me it feels different enough to stand on it's own.
