Rey is not super powerful, well let me rephrase that she is, but Ren is just super weak in the force. That is why he loses. That is why he joins the dark side. That is why he abandons Luke's training. Kylo Ren realized during his training at some point that he is super weak in the force. He idealized Vader who was a super powerful force user. He never knew a powerful light side user besides Luke and I'm guessing Luke never exhibited his power. That is why he killed the other padawans. That is also why Rey an entry level user can defeat him. He joined the dark side to buff his power but he is still only a mid tier force user. It's also why Snoke makes a remark about even with his training not being able to extract the info from Rey.
I'm gonna take it a step further and realizing their were still others powerful in the Force is what caused him tomurder Han. [\spoiler]
