I've been wrestling with myself for years as to whether or not people try new things anymore. Does anybody ever just buy RPG supplements and books and things they never actually play? Does anybody try and be The Guy to convince their friends to play a new game?
I've been working very hard on something of my own for a while, but I'm not sure whether or not it'd even be worth it. I'm pondering just releasing setting and class and story theme books set to open source 3.5 D&D and letting people just buy the shit for the novelty, or something.
What do you folks think? Is there room for more kings?

Does anyone have any useful tips for an Improvised Weapons Fighter in AD&D?

Time for questionable D&D morality and ethics.
Because neutral is closer to evil on the great cosmic alignment axis, we can assume it is more evil than good. At least, its evil content is greater than zero. It must be, because when a mortal man who is good commits evil he shifts toward neutral. Therefore neutral is a stepping stone of evil, assuming a downward moral trajectory.
So, it can be agreed that neutral has at least some evil content, most likely 50%. Therefore detect evil should indicate neutral characters as half-evil. Or at least indicate them fifty...

We can assume that if a table is covered in milk, that means the table is 50% milk. Being in proximity to spilt milk is simply a stepping stone to becoming spilt milk.
Maybe instead of neutral being that moment before a sword goes towards an evil person's chest or a good person's chest, neutral is the sword in its sheath on the ground, or over the mantle, or benign and having absolutely no morality to assign to it because it isn't being used for any purpose.
A flower is neutral. It grows, it blooms, it dies. A squirrel is neutral. It gathers nuts, it avoids predators. It is. A rock is neutral.
You can use flowers, squirrels and rocks for evil, but that doesn't make them evil. The same as you can do great evil in the name of or in the cause of good.
Evil and good are closer in the great horseshoe of morality than neutral, as good and evil are constructs of thinking beings that can choose to do right or wrong based on a lack of respect and consideration for one another. Neutral is the natural state of all things. To depart from it is to be good or evil.
Neutral isn't more evil than good, it's less good than good.
The number 3 is closer to negative numbers than the number 200, but we don't consider 3 "more negative" than 200.

sup /tg/ i made some OC for 5e dnd. Its a race that replaces the halfelfs as the metropolitan/diplomacy/skillmonkey race. they are aquatic humanoids that live in water and along the coast. their culture is heavily involved in commerce and merchant shipping. they live in shallow seas and lakes in verticles cities that tower from the bottom all the way to above the surface.
here are their racial stats, they are similar to the half elf:

Has anyone you know ever done this? -- Played an adventure game using a party of dragons as the protagonists?
Of course it would be "different", but that may be the thing I need to break out of my RPG doldrums. I was thinking of running a game heavy in political intrigue and setting the game in Golarion, with Daralathyxl as their sovereign.
Parentage will be important, of course. The dragon you select will mean you are part of a certain "family" which of course has a certain relationship with all the other families. You're born into your family's intrigues, honors, boons and debts.

Are you planning on doing it in Pathfinder?
I love D&D fluff for dragons and dragon times, I'm tolerant of PF fluff, but the system is awful, especially for monster PCs.
Play in something like FATE, which is easily customizable, or Fantasycraft, which at least allows dragons (drakes) by default. PF will just be tears. Setting's fine though.

Post any art requests you have ITT. Keep in mind, the drawfriends are doing this for free, so do not be surprised or upset if they gloss over your post. Just be patient, and bump your request ONE time, every 24 hours after posting it. Don't be a jerk and immediately repost your request because you don't like the FREE art you received.
Additionally, please provide good, detailed references (pictures are better than verbal descriptions), so the artists know what you're looking for as best you can.
If you've recently had a request filled by a drawfriend, please be considerate of less fortunate anons and hold off on additional requests for a while.

Can I get a picture of an ork fighting a dummy? It can be a crude sketch, but this is effectively what happens.
Panel 1: An Ork, or A Group of Orks, see a lone wooden cutout of a Spess Marine. It's minimally animated, waving around a shiny sword and screaming, "FIGHT MEEEE!" to get their attention.
Panel 2: The orks charge, the guys at the front passing over a proximity sensor. The sensor sets off pores in the floor for 80 feet that makes the ground around them utterly invisible.
