I just TPK'd my first group in Death House. All died except the tiefling (who had gills) to the ghouls, got back up and died again. Tiefling died from exhaustion, having jumped in the well.
Let them rewind, then they died shortly after to the mimic door. Get to do it to another grou on Saturday.
>>46079789
I nerfed most of the encounters in deathhouse. The players had fun and they never felt like it was too easy.
Does anyone make up prayers and stuff that their Cleric says when healing someone or before they go to battle or anything like that? What are they?
ITT we help each other fill in plot holes, brainstorm missing details, get some second opinions and generally improve our campaigns. I'll start.
>Unknown Armies solo session(s), sort of a prologue before the PCs meet and the campaign begins. I'll try to speak generally so as not to confuse people unfamiliar with the setting
>PC is a computer hacker interested in finding out as much as he can about a strange video clip circulating in some obscure internet communities
>PC gets hired to find the source of the clip by a mysterious but wealthy man (I'm stealing liberally from William Gibson's Pattern Recognition)
>PC will find a forum where someone claims to have gotten a hold of a video tape containing more footage, possibly all of it
>PC's benefactor/boss wants the physical tape. Tells PC to go get it.
>Guy who has the tape is a scrawny nerd a few states away
>Boss drops in when PC and tape guy meet
>Turns out he knows a lot about the footage that most people don't and was just using the PC to find a copy of the tape (the footage is more powerful/valuable the closer it is to an original copy of the tape it was shot on for in-setting reasons, though he probably won't tell the PC this)
>He intends to kill the PC and the tape guy
Basically I'm having trouble finding a reason that the boss would go through the trouble of double crossing the PC when he could just buy the tape from the guy once the PC tracks him down. The betrayal seems forced but without it it feels like the scenario would be kind of boring and anticlimactic. Thoughts?
>>46079380
I have a couple ideas.
>He is using the PC's as a fall-guy to keep his hands clean. Since they show up at the location, he can eliminate both the nerd and the PC's and get what he wants at the same time, and in the process frame the death of the two groups as being a shootout between the two of them rather than a murder.
>It gets him off to mess with people. He sees himself as being so completely above other people that he doesn't give two flying fucks about them, and gets off torturing them, living for the sight of them realizing just how completely fucked they are and always were when they interacted with him.
Just two thoughts.
>>46079380
Maybe he is not the only eccentric rich person after the tape and wants to tie up any loose ends to prevent his rivals tracking it to him.
>>46079380
Aha, the Naked Goddess tape, eh?
Offhand, maybe he and the guy WITH the tape have a history, so he the guy refused to meet with him, and he doesn't want the PC to watch the tape, since he assumes it will grant the PC power.

You are Adrian Brown, a twenty five year-old third-year medical student living an otherwise normal American life in search of employment. That was until you woke up inside a direct and demon-infested hospital with four other victims of short-term memory loss. Together, the five of you managed to somehow survive by negotiating with demons and defeating those that were not so amicable. And upon escaping, the all of you realized that it wasn’t as simple as that.
Task Force 666 a multinational organization dedicated to combating hostile demons and those that would use them for ill intentions. And the hellhole you just went through? That was your ‘job interview’, one that you passed with flying colors. When properly offered employment as an agent among the ranks, you accepted without too much hesitation or second thoughts. Duty to humanity and whatnot.
You are now a Devil Summoner in the service of the Task Force, and the de-facto leader of East Coast Operations Rookie Team Three. It is your duty to protect mankind from all threats involving the demonic, but how you choose to carry out your orders is entirely up to you. The choices you make shall not only affect those around you, but the fate of the entire world itself…
[???]
You must’ve fallen asleep at one point. Because the last thing you remember is sitting down in the car, and then the next thing you know, you aren’t where you last were.
Once again, you find yourself standing in landscape of perpetual white. The familiar scent of open earth and hyacinth flowers fill your nose, and the moist soil underneath your feet shift about your weight. And no matter how many times you try, you can’t see beyond two feet in front of you. The fog is too damn thick to make out anything.
What was it that Ian Flemming said? Something out of Goldenfinger…once is just happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.
This is the third time that you’ve been pulled into wherever the hell this place is. Somewhere where ‘forgotten things are laid to rest’. That’s as much as you can remember from other two times you’ve been here, and the women that spoke to you. The dreams…no, not dreams. Memories. They were memories.
Or were they both? Dreams are, after all, an aggregation of memories, thoughts and unrestrained imagination. And as far as you can remember reading back at the barracks, you do remember that some demons were capable of invading the dreams of others.
But that wasn’t the case here, if they were telling the truth. “Wanderer”, they called you, a traveler to this ‘limbo between inexistence and existence’.
New World mumbo-jumbo aside, it seems like you’re in another fine mess. All that’s left is for some feminine ghostly apparition to come and molest you yet again. What first you thought to be nothing but mere erotic dreams filled with the recent subliminal dusting of your new job is actually a supernatural visitation of some sorts.
And even though you know that something demonic is happening here, you don't even have any of your own demons to aid you if things turn ugly.
Fan-fucking-tastic.
(cont.)
Suddenly the breeze shifts, and the fog comes billowing around you with a hellish scream. The scent of the hyacinths turn sweeter, too sweet to be pleasing any more to the senses. You gag violently as the smell turns putrid, insufferably sweet, the cloying scent of purification and rot.
You’re no stranger to this. You’ve been to the morgue before, seen the dead bodies of humans and animals laid out on the table. But that was in a sterile environment, devoid of anything obstructive for the academia. There is no formaldehyde or lemon-scented surgery masks to cover it up.
The scent of death.
As you struggle to get your gag reflex under control, you notice a shape emerge from out of the rushing fog. It is human shaped, that much you can tell, but it’s as if a shroud of fog masks its form and movement. Seemingly uncaring of the roaring winds, it slowly approaches you
“And here we are. Finally, it’s my turn to speak with you, Wanderer,” A dry voice of sandpaper rasps from underneath the hood. It is an ancient intonation, one full of seething contempt. “I thought my time would never come, where I would speak to the one who trespasses in this forgotten place. But it seems that causality has seen fit to tip the odds into my hand.”
>“Who or what are you?”
>“What do you mean ‘your turn’?”
>“Thank you for not molesting me.”
>Custom option.

FIRST FOR LAW
>the local Blackguard has stolen the kingdom's only Prince
Could a D&D or pathfinder game even handle such a campaign concept, where the PCs are just tracking a blackguard across the land to dekidnap a prince, or would the party inevitably so utterly fail a series of tracking rolls that they'd lose the blackguard's trail?
>>46077876
If they lose the Blackguard's trail, it's the DM's job to have anticipated that and have put in ways that they can get back on the trail.

Ignoring the borderline unusable card, how hard is Sorin gonna go by the end of SOI's plot?
How is the card unusable? It's a perfect control finisher and an easy supporter for a potential combo/ramp deck giving secondary uses to 10+ CMC cards.
Its not like there's any risk of him actually being killed off.
>>46077980
OP probably subscribes to the "anything higher than 4 CMC is unusable" notion.
In other news, Michael Komarck was wasted in BFZ. He should've been the one to paint Sorin. Eric Deschamps is cool and all, but lately his pieces have this too-much-empty-space shit going for it.
Anyone know of any rules-light, fast-paced action racing systems? Something that could emulate REDLINE, maybe.

Well shit, isn't that just the most convenient thing. Thanks a ton!I will still gladly take suggestions.
