Here's how to fix the bladelock:

Then toss in a few feats for weapon mastery that open up interesting options, like Polearm Mastery does for polearms, and you've got a fun class that works by switching weapons and tools constantly to fit the situation.

Well, it has to be something that could feasibly fit into the setting, and (well-made) RPG systems cater to their settings. Especially for a first timer you really shouldn't be setting out to create some kind of special, singular entity, especially one that is likely to operate different from a 'normal' character mechanically.

It's a bit of a trap to make a character that is interesting because of what they *are*, rather than what they do, or what they think.

That said, if you find a GM who could cope with your bullshit, a half-orc/half-giant...

Usually a beer or three (more if it goes long), and no smoking for me, though some of our players like to puff away at some fags.

Honestly, the only thing I don't like at a table is a player running late and eating dinner (especially if it's me), because this tends to slow down the already fairly arduous startup process of our games.

Don't do stuff that makes your players uncomfortable. That's it. That's all you need to do.
In order to do this, you have to talk to them before putting stuff in, and maybe check in now and then to see if you're going the right directions.
If they're cool with it, all systems are go. If they're not, don't do it.

In Dwarf Fortress, necromancers can cause major chaos if they come close to a butchery because they can raise the skin, skeleton and I think also muscles as independent zombies, plus each part gets to be its own zombie (so you also get zombie hands, for example).

However, once a cook arrives and cooks the remains, the already cooked food can't be raised anymore.


Still some parts may still cause chaos. Like in that one fort that fell years ago when a necromancer found its way into the fortress´...
