Like most awesome things, this happens in Eberron. 5e Eberron if you want to be anal about it.
Recently the party discovered that The Draconic Prophecy was written by a 7-year old girl who barely knew how to read or write.
You read that right.
Apparently this girl has been reincarnating since the beginning of existence, and, having some form of Precognition, decided to write everything about the universe in her journal, which just so happened to be Eberron.
So, yeah, the Incomprehensible Prophecy Dragons spend their entire lives studying? Groucho Marx put it best when he said "A child of five could understand this! Now fetch me a child of five, I can't make head nor tail of it!"
What we learned:
> The Draconic Prophecy ultimately tells of the doom of Eberron, caused by the plane of Xoriat Crashing into the Material Plane.
> The Death of The Traveler is ultimately the reason for this.
> Our party is by no means unique, we are, however, an unknown element. Due to shenanigans involving planar travel and visiting a player’s Homebrew setting, we all got masks that gave us the minor powers of some deities. Also, one of our players re-rolled his character there, then came back to Eberron. So now the party has abilities, and even an individual that are outside of the scope of the prophecy.
> Because we have the ability to cause unexpected consequences, there is an unknown chance that we can quite literally de-rail fate and ruin the Draconic Prophecy
> We also received the location of a shitload of wealth on the continent of Xen'Drik, obviously the party’s current goal.
TLDR: Eberron is doomed unless we de-rail the Draconic Prophecy by a couple Hendersons
So, anyone interested in helping me come up with a plan to de-rail everything? We're about 12 years ahead of the official timeline, and a lot has changed, if anyone’s interested I can give details about the party and changes from classic Eberron.

Analysis of the Prophetical abilities of the Reincarnating: it cannot be simply seeing the future, because then her lack of knowledge of your powers would not be an issue as she would merely observe their outcome. True or false?
>>
>>46631765
Actually, she was unable to see the masks, and was completely unable to see the player's character from the other setting. She's aware that he exists only by his presence and impact on the world, thus she's unable to predict their immediate effect upon the world. She's elected to keep things hands off, as she is inherent to the prophecy, and any direct influence she might have may would likely make things worse. From her perspective, she's able to see the secondary or third levels of impact our actions have, but not the primary, and she observes these as slight fluctuations in events she never could have predicted. Basically, they are inherently and unknown to here, albeit currently a very small one.

After finally regaining control of our legs, we decided to take matters into our own hands. After Desiderius confessed to working for the Orsani family, you stabbed him repeatedly in the stomach. After arriving at home with Francesca, the two of you spent some time exploring each other. You decided to adopt Edward as your son.

>Wednesday, 14th of August. Year of the Lord, 1095.

You wake up with your arms wrapped around Francesca again. Looking outside of your dirty window, you decide that you’d gotten enough sleep. You sat up on the side of the bed, after carefully making sure your fiancé was still asleep. Yesterday, you killed Desiderius. You were still trying to come to terms with the fact that he had betrayed you, all for money.

Completely lost in thought, you didn’t notice the door to your room opening a little. Only the sound of the door closing managed to snap you out of it. Once you turned to look, you noticed two plates sitting on the stone floor, both with some bread and meat on it. You couldn’t help but hold back a smile. After a few more moments, you heard the front door close. Edward was gone again.

There are no dungeons in the Nameless Temple. No prisons, and no cells fit for those accused of crimes.

Perhaps there should be – it doesn't feel right, locking Jain in a dull and featureless room once used for solitary meditation, even if that lonesome chamber was scarcely different from a jail cell. Nobody is quite sure how to handle him, even though everyone knows what he tried to do. Word spread quickly – after his defeat in a duel with Koa, Jain drew a dagger and tried to murder his rival. He tried to murder Koa, your friend and apprentice. You stopped it, disarming and disabling the would-be assassin.

Jain isn't shouting now. He isn't even crying or sobbing – the last time you saw him, he was almost catatonic with... what? Grief, perhaps, or maybe shock? It doesn't seem to matter now. Hours later, you still can't quiet down your nerves. In your restless hands, you keep turning over the dagger you plucked from Jain's hands.

The boy's name is crudely engraved onto one side of the blade. On the reverse is the name Shiki. A lover's gift – now marked by the irreparable stain of attempted murder.

“Nobody quite knows what to do,” Howa tells you sadly, lurching down into the seat opposite you, “No, that's not right – I think we all know what we should be doing. We should hand Jain over, and let Imperial law take care of him. He's still young, they might be merciful.”

That's what you should do, you agree quietly, but nobody has done it yet. You could take him now, riding out to the nearest outpost with him leashed behind your horse. A few hours, and the matter would be out of your hands. Out of everyone's hands. Legally speaking, it's what you should do – so why is Jain locked in a meditation chamber, and not on his way to the dungeons already?

“He's one of our own,” Howa reaches across the table, taking your hands and finally stopping their restless shuffle, “I know, that's no excuse, but... I don't know, something about this doesn't feel right, does it? You know what I mean, that's why you've not turned him in already.”

What about the Mentor, you ask, isn't it his place to decide?

“I've spoken with him,” Howa grimaces, as if swapping words with a sorcerer has left her defiled, “And he said we need to know all the facts before making a decision. That's all.”

Of course he did, you murmur. Once, you would have assumed that he trusted you enough to leave the decision in your hands – now, you suspect he's just avoiding making a decision of his own.

“I'm not going to tell you what to do,” Howa's voice lowers slightly, “But if you want to look into this... I'll help you any way I can. If you want to let the law handle Jain...” she shakes her head, “Go ahead. This is your call, Ira.”

>I need to know the truth. We'll find it out together

It's how we handle Writs too. Besides handing him over to the Imperials, the ones that caused this mess to begin with feels wrong.

I come to you, my fellow fa/tg/uys in my most desperate hour. I bring you a game that is in desperate need of players. I would under normal circumstances bring this to /vg/ but the game is mostly text based and has a rather steep learning curve. That and i feel rather confident that it falls under the rule of /tg/ games. I will be watching this thread closely so feel free to ask any questions.

Lets talk guns...there is quite a variety of them.

I posted a thread the other day about running a game for my friends who know nothing about 40k where they'd be playing imperial guardsmen.
I was originally going to do it freeform but I realized that was a terrible idea so I'm running it in only war.

During chargen I'm going to get them to read excerpts from the infantaryman's uplifting primer.

They're going to be drafted into a newly formed regiment from a planet that's of similar technology levels to earth that has not had contact with the imperium in a long time.

They do sort of know about the astartes so I was wondering how I could fit that in fluffwise, do space marines ever go on none combat missions maybe to boost morale?

I was thinking of not letting them pick a specialization after they'd rolled a character, and instead assigning it to them myself based on their attributes while in training en route to their first mission.

I'm also going to have a GMPC to prevent them committing too much naive heresy, but I'm undecided as to whether this is a sergeant or a commissar, I'm not sure it'd make sense for such a new squad to have a commissar assigned directly to them.

I was thinking their first assignment would be against either some hive gangers, but maybe that'd be too minor a thing for the guard to deal with, or it'd be quelling a rebellion on a planet that is trying to secede from the imperium.

Either way I'm planning on the BBEG being a not very powerful psyker, I'm planning on the whole thing being really easy in order to lull them into a false sense of security.

Their next assignment will be to cull an ork raiding party that has crash landed on an agri world, for their first battle there I'm going to have them fight gretchen but present them as orks in order to boost their confidence even more, after that I'm planning on hitting them with a serious ork raiding party, this battle is going to result in the death of the GMPC and serious injury to the players.

>Which rules should I follow?
If you don't already have some homebrew version with friends, follow the MTGO card pool and banlist (and please spread this to your friends that start playing with you). Currently the only place Pauper is officially supported by Wizards is online, and they have a card pool and banlist, therefore that is the format we should be using offline on paper as well, since decks and cards can transfer to games between each other with no confusion.

>WAHHH THATS TO HARD WHERE...
http://www.mtg-hunter.com
The bottom left has a box, select MTGO Pauper, all cards in the card pool and banlist are taken into account.

>What deck should I use?
Ask in the thread!

>Is MTGO worth it?
If you have no local paper competition, but want to play a vast amount of Pauper, it can't be beat, even if it is a clunky GUI, you learn quickly.

Some good decks for newbies include but are not limited to:
>Burn
>Elves
>Goblins
>Stompy
>Slivers
>Affinity
>Mono U control

Maybe focus on the political aspect?
The Inquisitor is old and frail, he holds his own in battle by relying on body guards and a few clever tricks like Jokaero digital weapons and a personal force field, but his real strength is as a liaison. This guy started as a humble adept before being recruited into the Inquisition, and discovered he had a natural gift for politicking. In short, he can get anyone to work with anyone and is an expert orator. While he seldom goes into frontline combat, when he does its at the head of a combination of the Imperium's very finest: Astartes, Battle Sisters, Skitarii and Imperial Guard all come running when this guy says he needs them.

Considering your RPG bookshelf, what's the ratio of games you've played versus games you've only ever read?

Mine's about 1:5 (played:only read).

Bonus question: do you buy RPGs just to read them, with no expectation of ever playing them?
