So I'm looking to get back into Magic (after having not played since Champions of Kamigawa). I'm hoping to pick up some more Kamigawa block cards, and some of the more recent sets, probably Khans of Takir and later. Since I don't have a local game shop, I'll obviously be buying online and I was hoping to get some buying advice.
You know, where to buy, what to buy, how not to get ripped off, etc. I'm pretty much entirely going to be playing Legacy, EDH, and Modern, and entirely casual, but I do have a little bit of cash to get something cool.
Anyways, any advice would be much appreciated.

Tcgplayer.com is a pretty good source to buy from. Sometimes you can get a good deal on pricier cards on eBay, but everyone else is too.

While that is solid advice, part of the problem is that I don't know what I want. Aside from a few games here and there using decks that weren't mine, I am very far removed from the game. Even when I was playing I was using either whatever I pulled from boosters or could trade for, never really had the option or money to buy the cards I needed.
I don't know, I guess I'm also wondering if there's some sort of list I can specifically buy from or a packaged deal that give me a good section of cards that I can really get a feel from so I can learn what I want?

I'd recommend checking in on your LGS and getting an idea of what they play there.
Maybe ask to borrow a deck and play some rounds to find a deck you want to play. Freshen up on the game a bit ahead of time so it doesn't become a chore for them to help you though.
Also, if you have a few friends who might be interested in starting with you I'd really recommend that.
Drafts are something you can do without owning any cards, and also allows you to gain card capital to start trading or building your own decks, good for before you know what you want to build.
Best advice is simply to go ask people at your local area, they will be able to give you a far more accurate idea on what formats to focus on.
In your setting of choice, what would be the best way to go about ending the world? Either by raw force of destruction or somehow tearing the fabric of the universe apart is fine. Get creative with it.

If, say, saltpeter didn't exist, or was much harder to come by, what would that do to the development of firearms?
Are there other small but fundamental tweaks you could make to a world to stop guns from being invented, or perhaps made extremely rare? Not political or cultural changes, but hard facts about resource availability, or straight up existence of certain substances or even a world where very specific physical or chemical events necessary to the working of a gun simply don't take place (I imagine the flow on effects would be enormous)
Bonus points: can it be done and still have artillery, cannons, etc, in use?
As you moved forward in the future, what other solutions would crop up? What else would you have to remove to keep them out of your universe? What effects could that have? What impractical weaponry gets more tractions without firearms?
What would different settings do with guns? What would the Wild West look like? Was the Wild West only possible with guns? What about the Age of Sail? The Victorian Age, Gilded Age, WW1? Hell, even the last 50 years?
Failing any of that, I'll happily take pictures of people from settings who should have guns, but have grown up using other, older or stranger tools to compensate.

The GM will decide what the effects actually are, but in no way can said effect negatively affect anyone under the influence of this domain power. Common affects include minor orison blessings on all affected, Cure Light Wounds on all affected, etc. The effects do not need to make sense in the context of the situation; a warrior swinging with a greatsword while under the influence of this power and critically missing might, instead of dropping his greatsword or hurting himself or an ally, somehow bury it into the ground, creating a small healing spring that casts a Cure Light Wounds on all in the affected area. We buggered the hell away from Great Forks when we found a 3CD was being summoned there, and half the circle had aggravated damage up to their -4s due to the ST rolling 6 sux off 4 dice for an environmental hazard.

Hey /tg/, I'm looking for some help with encounter ideas for my D&D 5e campaign. My party is about to take a shortcut through Definitely-Not-Moria Dwarf Tunnels. They are leading a small force of about 200 human soldiers through this old Dwarven highway (low-way?) and I'm trying to populate it with locations other than simply "more bare tunnel".
I've got a bridge over a massive gorge with a cloaker, a cavern filled with various kinds of fungus, an abandoned Dwarven city smack in the middle (now populated by a tribe of Fomorians in conflict with some Galeb Duhr), and a subterranean river crossing with pretty waterfalls, glowing crystals andMind Flayers.
I'm trying to decide what to include as a final encounter to have the players running out of the tunnels for their dear lives at the end. Any suggestions for new stuff or regarding what I already have are greatly appreciated.
