I was too young to witness the 1st explosion of the Tabletop RPG fad of the early 1980s as I was born in '79. I witnessed the Collectible Card Game craze of the early 1990s in middle school.
So what will be the next gaming fad with even mainstream appeal? Or are we living in it with the current explosion of board gaming?
When do RPGs make a comeback? Most of the growth seems to be adults in their 30s and 40s with disposable income rediscovering their interest in gaming.
Comeback from what? More people play RPGs than ever.

This.
It's just that they're spread out across dozens of systems and games instead of all being funneled through 2-3 megatitans.
Yeah, tabletop gaming in general is in the middle of a renaissance. We've never had it so good.
You are someone of small renown, but big enough that others like you look up to your guidance and strength in times of need. Times like now. Your home lies somewhere over the horizon, or under the earth, or in another world. You either came here by running from an enemy that can't be beaten or from a situation that can't be solved and now wishes to try your luck on the wild-lands instead.
No matter where you came from, here is where you will make history with your own hands. Grab your destiny and strike the land!

Explaining the Game:
Attributes work as a dice pool. Each point in one attribute equals +1d6 that can be used for a given challenge, quest or duel.
In a challenge a rating will be set and victory is given by equalling or exceeding this rating in the number of dice a player is allowed to roll, according to his actions and abilities.
A quest works much like a challenge but is much harder and works across many turns, allowing a player to accumulate towards its rating while doing other challenges.
Duels are...

NationStates Thread (#3)
Old thread hit bump limit (finally, and thread before that died, so we don't much up the /tg/ board with too much spam)
Praise and Thanks to based mods and janitors, since /His/ does not allow generals, we were wondering if we could stay here rather then /vg/, since nationstates is pretty much a role playing game outside of the daily issue solving.
What is NationStates?

It's suprising how interesting the universe is. I just dug up some old lore and I think it'd make good material for a campaign. Especialy if darkened a bit more.
I've written a lot of reworked lore and collected a lot of art for it, but a game never fell through unfortunately.
>>43562585
fuck yeah i've always loved bionicle
although i've been out of the loop for at least 10 years on lore and products and everything
but it's still a pretty interesting setting, a set of isles populated entirely by biomechanical beasts and intelligent, organized creatures that fight for traditions and survival and master various elements to their favor, i loved the whole idea put behind it, and how fleshed out the world was
if you want to adapt something to a tabletop, i think there's a tactical rpg vidya out there in the depths of the internet, made by ankama games (the people behind dofus and wakfu) that could give you a basic idea of how things could work
also the equipment systems could be bananas because instead of equipping weapons you'd switch out pieces and assemble/dissassemble accordingly to different means

Vallejo paints. Cheaper and just as good or better than GW. Comes in a squeezable bottle so if doesn't dry out.
This is the thread for new players to ask rules questions or get deck building advice. Feel free to ask anything here or post deck lists for criticism.
Please use http://tappedout.net/ for deck lists. nobody will read a wall of text and look up every single card
has anyone seen a good edh deck around this card? wanna get some coin flippin on the road
I'm kind of in that in the ground in between casual and standard/modern. I basically just draft / play kitchen table with my friends, but I definitely feel that some of my decks have surpassed the group power level.
Anyway, what are you guys running currently? I have a RW allies deck, and a RU thopter deck which is a blast to play.

"Alright, it seems you have the radio down." She says. "You should also be picking up the security net. It's encrypted, but I threw in a converter for you."
You find what she's talking about- the signal feels like it should be part of the rest of your shell, giving your navigation systems orders, requesting information, and sending you positioning data all at the same time. It fits perfectly with your firmware, and you could theoretically act precisely like a Security Bot, albeit...

>>43561781
Well first of all, don't be a swashbuckler, be a daring champion cavalier instead.
I was always a fan of the Rapier myself, Estoc ist nice too although exotic, of course you could also dervish dance with a scimitar.
Explain to me, Why a Deathwatch Kill-ship hasn't been sent to the Tau Homeworld to destroy it? After all the Tau Homeworld was scheduled to be converted into a imperial world before being lost to it.
You can't can you?
>>43561692
Because there's a tau fleet now ?
They could've sent one when the world was first found, but they didn't and seeing as how fucking slow the bureaucracy is in 40k, it probably took them until today to realize that they should send a kill-ship.
But they can't now can they.

Kill-ships are unique weapon relics used by the Deathwatch. They are actually automated drone-ships guided by the most sophisticated of War-spirits, designed with the singular task of conducting Exterminatus operations in the most extreme of circumstances on worlds that are believed to be completely lost to the Imperium.
To aid them on their mission, Kill-ships are equipped with unique examples of long lost cloaking technology that date back to...

Why isn't your character a straight white male human fighter named Bob Smith with exactly average stats, no distinguishing features or personality quirks whatsoever, and the same equipment as ordinary soldiers?

>Why isn't your character a straight white male human fighter named Bob Smith with exactly average stats, no distinguishing features or personality quirks whatsoever, and the same equipment as ordinary soldiers?
Because such character IS a special snowflake. He's so devoid of interesting traits that it makes him higly unusual.
