Fluffed some monsters.

For those of you who don't know what this means or have forgotten/need a refresher: it's pretty simple.
OP or people in the thread posts pictures of monsters ranging from the adorable to the horrific, and OP, or people in the thread give some fluff to the creature presented, No fluffing your own images though.
Rinse and repeat until boredom or autosage. So, who's up for it?

Waxen Howler
These foul beings are Demons under Greed. Designed by and bestowed with accursed powers by the Lord of Wanton desire. These maddened frothing monsters tear through the world with wild abandon. But unlike more common demons of greed, they do not crave flesh or wealth, they thirst and hunger for color.
As such an odd concept as it may be, they do in fact covet color above all else, and their very presence causes the color in all things to seemingly condense, and condensate on the surfaces. The Howler suckles and laps at the chromatic ooze, if not tearing into it with tooth and claw.
The loss of a beings color is extremely adverse. Sentient creatures lose all emotion, or have them suppressed almost entirely, leaving the victim numb to the world. The creature then gallivants off, it's prize taken. Materials are affected more physically, bricks become chalky and weak, plants shrivel, stones crack and wood turns to ash.
Incredibly bright things, gemstones, flowers, ink and paint are consumed wholesale by the monster, riches and things of beauty disappearing into it's gaping maw.
As the creature feeds, more and more blotches and swirls of color begin to emerge on the creatures waxy hide. It said only when a Howler becomes saturated to an obscene degree with collected hues and shades, does it report back to greed himself. What goes on at that point is a mystery. And according to most churches and scholars of the world,
should remain that way.

It's 10:30 at night, I have nothing better to do, and I kinda let this die last time. This will probs end in another thread death but I honestly don't give a shit anymore.

LAST TIME, ON BARDBARIAN QUEST:
-After your clan was attacked and the survivors either taken into slavery or scattered to the winds, you and your totally platonic bro no homo I swear Raiyal, you decided to go after the only clue you have: A mysterious note implying the orcs are heading to Krios.
-You and Raiyal decide to go into the deep woods to enlist the help of the elves.
-Along the way, you ran into Sanction a town that may or may not have been a concentration camp for Kender.
-Having never seen either kender or dwarves, you believe now that kender are in fact dwarves.
-You also kind of sort of committed genocide at Sanction before leaving.
-Now back on the road, you and Raiyal have decided to hunt in order to make pelts and clothing for the coming winter.
-While Raiyal left you behind to set up camp, you were beset by the bloody vision of a tiny creature.
-OP was a massive fag and abandoned quest

You don't put up a fight and instead just wave Raiyal off. You'll be fine by yourself for a few hours. Nodding, Raiyal stalks off into the woods, and after a minute or so, you completely lose all trace of him.

What is a good way to go about getting into the Warhammer 40,000 universe? I'm unsure if I have the time or finances for model painting, but the lore interests me greatly, what little I've heard of it.

Codices are a good way of learning about each of the armies.

Imperial Armor is good if you want to read historicalesque military campaigns.

Black Library is good for stories.

Yeah, wiki surfing was something I did in high school when I was first getting into 40k, since I had an office assistant period where I had nothing to do but sit on the available computer and skim the web, for the most part.

The novels are also a good place to start. Choices that seem to be the least controversial are:

>Eisenhorn
>Ciaphas Cain
>Space Wolf
>Horus Heresy (first 5~ books, after that the series splits up; there are some guides that recommend which ones are good or part of their own miniseries)

Aw shit son I'm all signed up for this shit, I'm in a roll20 game on Saturdays and trying to get an IRL one going because fuck whatever else I was going to do on weekends, time to make other humans feel sad and small in the cosmos wow that kind of sounds bad when you say it out loud.

I've noticed that the Cthulhu Mythos skill has been replaced with Unnatural. Is that just a symptom of divorcing from CoC? Trail has Mythos as a skill though so it's not like Petersen can claim copyright or whatever over that. Or are they going more towards making their own mythos and just trying to get away from Old Man Squidface?

Unnatural is a sanity track, it informs you how hardened your character is, not how savvy.

Occult should cover Mythos, the distinction is only relevant in the classic 1920s setting. In the world of DG the difference between arcane magic and knowledge about greater beings is slim.

You have 0-9, which is effectively 1-10, right? All numbers are face value and the 0 counts as a ten, right?

So is it 10, 20, ... 90, 100? What is the 00 supposed to be?

If DA is an 8 and DB is 00, is the number rolled a simple 8?

If DA is 0 and DB is a 90, then what?

What is it's a 0 and a 00?

Can you only roll up to 99? What combination makes a 100?

Someone please explain.

Dice A determines the ones digit (0-9). Dice B determines the tens digit. Thus a 90 and 0 would be 90, a 40 and 7 would be 47, and a 00 and 6 would be a 6 (the tens digit is a 0).

When you roll 00 and 0 you've rolled 100. You can't roll a 0 on a 1d100, for the same reason that you can't roll a 0 on a d6.

in reality, it's a t2 play that feels like a timewalk, don't start to generate advantage til turn 3 and slowly kills you. that combined with the fact that faeries don't have lifegain and the fact manabases on modern are painful as fuck, makes the deck an easy prey to burn, affinity, zoo.

You are Urist Twelfthbay, the moe personification of Dwarf Fortress, and you are a short, sturdy creature fond of drink and industry. Right now, you're grimly keeping your balance on an explosion-propelled space rock that's hurtling through the cluttered hyperdimensional void at cataclysmically unsafe speeds.

Praying to Armok that you won't crash into anything hard enough to turn you all into chunky meat sauce would be futile, since your plan to arrive at your destination does, in fact, involve crashing into it hard enough to turn you all into chunky meat sauce. Heck, the very act of STOPPING your hollowed-out asteroid REQUIRES that you crash into something with enough force to turn you all into chunky meat sauce, while steering to the left or right requires that you detonate one of the munition piles cobbled together on either side of your makeshift vehicle.

And here you are, riding this deathtrap to the nearest stranded adventurer, who's probably just sitting on a floating island not that much larger than your hollowed-out asteroid. You ARE intent on helping her- although now that you think about it, rescue missions normally fail if the rescuers accidentally vaporize their target and her immediate surroundings upon landing.

... see, THIS is why you try to avoid working with people who both agree with your suicidal dwarfy plans AND have the power to make your plans a horrific reality.

Your awed stargazing is rudely interrupted when a fist-sized piece of debris smashes into the 'ground' a few feet away, making you jump.

"Get in cover, idiot!" Tiff roars from somewhere underneath your feet. "We got incoming!"

Another rock nearly takes off your head as you dive down into the hollowed-out asteroid, landing in a main chamber of sorts. Inside, the screwy 'gravity' is strangely stable, unaffected by your high speeds, and there's a twisted sort of normality going on. Doomgirl's got her face up against a hole in the wall, as excited as a car-riding dog faced with an open window, while Tiff continues bashing her Engineer aspect's trademark wrench against the wall, her expression grim.

What immediately grabs your attention is how there's a big gaping hole where the back wall should be, allowing you an unobstructed view of the hyperdimensional void and the madly-whirling stars in the 'sky.' Your summoned dwarves, of course, continue mining out the Seganium like there's nothing strange about this at all.

"We lost a good chunk of the asteroid when the main thrusters went off," the Team Fortress says without preamble (although you can't see how ANYONE could call a haphazard pile of one-time-use explosives "main thrusters" with a straight face), yelling over the roaring winds. "And as if that wasn't enough, we're off-course!"

"Oh FUCK yeah!" Doomgirl roars. "More monsters to play with!"

You scurry over to a hole in the wall and peer out, your blood running cold. A pair of void sharks- pitch-black, blank-eyed, and filled with more teeth than you've got problems- are undulating through the void and gaining on your ride, drawn by the mutilated corpse of one of their own that's still just- sort of sitting on the roof, attracting every predator in the vicinity with the scent of blood.

Crap.

I feel bad for creating a new thread just to ask this question (especially since it's a pretty newbie one), but I don't know where to ask it, so here it is: is there any other notable wargame beside W40K, Age of Sigmar, and Warmahordes? I didn't find anything on 1d4chan either but I probably didn't search correctly

In contrast to GW's games, I dislike the apparent lack of customisation in Warmahordes (see: your dudes), but I'm sick of GW's settings and aesthetics, and I would like to try something new. Any ideas?
