In the land of Ibellica the Empire is dying. It has been for some time now, but things have only gotten worse. The civil structure is collapsing, civil war is constant, plagues and famines are an everyday aspect of life. The world is cold and summer is short. To the East, rumor and fear drive whole nations westward to save themselves. Every day the weakened Imperial borders are beset by ever-increasing numbers and ever more powerful invader kingdoms looking to escape and rebuild in the carcass of the dying Empire. Where do you stand?

Nation: The First Emperor
Color: Red
Everyone knew the empire was dying from the highest of lords to the lowest of slave scum. The Imperial line has grown weak and tainted through inbreeding and had gifted the empire with incompetence and corruption. As a desperate measure the Archmage of the Empire launched a desperate plot to stop the fall of the Empire. Using dark magics and the sacrifice of the last of the inbred imperial line to rip the soul of the First Emperor back for the realm beyond and bind it to a...

The Lakesiders are a nation of farmers and fishermen. There is little centralised government and even an element of libertarian paranoia, with towns often constructing defensive foritifications such as trenches. The Lakesiders have a rich culinary culture, making use of their farmland and fishing waters to produce food, alcohol, pickles and biscuits. The Kingdom of the Lakesiders is currently 'ruled' by a young king who wants to rule as a just king but lacks experience. The Lakemen have recently...

You remember feeling pain all over your body, and feeling dizzy. Memories of your mediocre life flashed before your eyes; friends who never bothered to stay in touch, a family that tolerated you at best, and treated you like dirt at worst, living every day feeling tied and alone, wondering when you would find the drive to change your life…
The last thing you remember was the hospital ward corridor lights whizzing by overhead, each one growing fainter as the pain in your chest built until it was all you could feel…
And then you open your eyes to find yourself still lying on your back, but not cold anymore, but warm all over, and very comfortable. You ease back bed covers you’re furled in to find they’re baby pink and very soft.
You gently push away the bed covers, feeling groggy from a deep sleep, and slowly come to the realization that you’re not in the hospital anymore…
You sit upright as you take in the room you’ve found yourself in. It’s shabby, with peeling baby-pink wallpaper revealing a bland tan-brown plastering underneath; this is a teenage girl’s room with a flavour of the month boy band posters on the wall, and clothes, most consisting on baby pink, littered on the floor.
Your gaze lowers to your own body.
You suck in a sharp breath as you see you’re wearing a baby-pink onesie with a capital A printed on the front in white.
You get out of bed, finding you’re a lot shorter than your old self used to be, finding the balance to your walk is way off, and that your hair won’t stop falling in front of your eyes.
You make it to a mirror. There you can see what you already knew.
You’re a teenage girl. Fifteen, maybe older.
Above all the question you ask yourself: How did this happen? And why?
As you stand and stare at your reflection you try to think back to what might have caused this. Memories flicker at you; sitting on cold grass looking at hazy figures shouting and laughing, a song with a tune you can’t quite place, and a girl in a green dress…
You take a step back, your barefoot creaking on the floorboard as you watch the teenage girl with the short brunette hair and blue eyes copy your movements.
You can see she is cute, and kind of pretty, although she has a bit of an overbite, and her button nose is covered in a heavy dosage of freckles.
You look around the room, finding a Barbie alarm clock. It’s 7:30am.
A woman’s voice from another room makes you jump in fright.
“Ellie, breakfast is ready, you don’t want to be late for school again.”
A) Look for school clothes and get dressed
B) Head into the next room wearing PJ’s
C) Get back in bed and hide from all this.
The option with the most votes after 10-15 minutes wins.

You drag the sailraft away from the churning water of the water as the wind blows, blows, blows, BLOWS, pummeling and pushing at you and trying to snatch the raft from your hands as you struggle to hang on.
Once the raft has been dragged out of the wind, you examine it carefully.

What should we be? Chinese?
The town is made up of light pine-wood houses, surrounded by the conifer forest that has been ever-present along your journey north up this coast. You've dragged your sailraft up a beach of light grey pebbles and into a gravel street; the water is still agitating violently and the wind is blowing strongly.

Ten years ago an ORION Colony Ship was commandeered by a collection of miners, scientists and civilian workers in an effort to escape the reaches of Earth’s tyrannical governments, and her power hungry corporations. The ship landed on a lonely, ice choked planet orbiting a young star further than any human had dared to go before. The colonists named the planet Last Hearth, a testament to how far they had come. The early years were hard, but an abundance of natural resources...

Setting Notes: The Church of the Stewards of Jesus Christ and the Illuminated Buddha
The Church of the Stewards is a new sect of Syncretic Christianity that refers to itself as Third Testament Christianity. The holy scripture contains three main books; the Old, New and Third Testaments. The Third Testament tells of the truths revealed to Bodhisattvas throughout human history and explains how they, like Jesus Christ, and the rest of Humanity, are the Children of God. What makes the Bodhisattvas unique is Enlightenment, a Spiritual connection to Nature and God that transcends Knowledge, and even Faith. Bodhisattvas, in their Enlightenment, are able to perceive beyond Reality, the Body of God and into Samsara, the Mind of God. At this point the Enlightened ascends, escaping the wheel of Reincarnation, and becomes a Deity themselves, subservient only to the Supreme God, Jehovah.
Notable Bodhisattvas in the Steward Tradition are the Buddha, Zoroaster, Enoch, Abraham (and the other Abrahamic Patriarchs), King Solomon, Elijah, Moses, Jesus, The Virgin Mary, Muhammad, Rumi, Joan of Arc and Haile Selassie among many, many others.
Stewardship holds that there is a spiritual hierarchy emanating from Jehovah with Bodhisattvas ruling directly under him. The Bodhisattvas (and Jesus Christ, the King of the Buddhas) in turn rule over Angels, who do their bidding as well as that of the Supreme God. Lower than the Angels, but beholden to no one, are the Kami. The Kami are “Gods” of Nature, who bless and curse as they please. Though the Kami are to be venerated, they are not to be “worshiped,” for they are fickle creatures. Kami are generally thought to be the Gods of Old (Odin, Thor, Zeus, Osiris, Izanami and Izanagi etc.) before the truth of Jehovah was revealed to Abraham and the Old Covenant signed.
The exact tenets of the Stewards are up to individual congregations (Stewardship draws its overarching structure from Congregationalism), though most agree on everything listed above. The Ten Commandments and Mosaic Law are generally seen as guidelines, with more importance placed on community consensus than strict hierarchy. For instance, Divorce is permitted by most Congregations, especially in the case of abuse. Since Stewards believe the Soul enters the body at the moment of birth, Abortion is frequently also permitted. Homosexuality tends to accepted as well. However, the key Unifying Tenet of Stewardship is that other systems of belief are “Unhealthy.” Since these false faiths frequently do not accept the teachings of even a few of the Bodhisattvas, they are necessarily diseased. Stewards therefore take it upon themselves to act as the Spiritual “Stewards” of Humanity, saving others from their narrow-minded and false beliefs. So far this takes the form of proselytizing, of which Stewards have proven to be very effective, but who knows how this may change in the future.

Welcome to legacy quest, a dungeon crawling adventure spanning several generations of heroes.
Your protagonists will die, permanently, but fear not! Before each hero embarks on their quest to free the land from evil, they marry and have children, ensuring their bloodline will not die with them, and providing the next intrepid adventurer to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors when they come of age.
Unfortunate and stupid heroes might face insta-kills, unwinnable situations, and general doom. The best and brightest will slowly progress through the dungeon, but will still likely face their inevitable death.
No one hero will beat the dungeon, only by building up a strong family of heroes, investing in your hometown/stronghold to acquire better resources, passing down knowledge, wealth, and loot.

>Svard and Kazgrub finally parted ways. Kazgrub led a small band of now friendly goblins to find refuge in Angorvil, at Svard's invitation.
>Svard finally reached Sanctuary Citadel!
Now his adventure continues...
After a helpful feedback session at the end of the last thread, the popular consensus is to ramp the difficulty up a little, after Svard II has been fucking evil up a little too successfully. There have been some tweaks to various mechanics since last time, which I'll let you know about when they become relevant.
We'll continue after 3 bumps, as usual. Until then I'll dump character sheet and current map.
Here
Here is Svard II's herosheet, after all items transferred from Kazgrub.
Here's the current (unexplored) map: Sanctuary Citadel!
The feedback seemed to be split between:
>People who were pretty happy with difficulty, although acknowledged that Svard II has been really lucky with rolls.
>People who wanted it to get a little harder.
The most common concern was the exponential increase in power with subsequent generations, so this has been addressed. Heroes will likely be a little more likely to succeed than their parent, but they're not going to cruise through...

You are Maellan Kane, a novice warlock and bumbling sorcerer and hexer. You enjoy memorancy and dislikes not knowing things. You were an average Telkine boy like a dozen others, but one day a fallen star stole your soul and left you fateless, Exarch. You now have a roiling molten yellow and evil light in the place of your soul and it hungers for all things known. You fed it all you could, you learned to control it, now you want to get rid of it. You traveled following rumors of a fallen star sighted in the northern shores. Thus your journey to the Sea of Fallen Gods began.
Yesterday you were resting, putting yourself into order, when night fell terrifyingly quickly. When you rushed out the door to the public hall where all the gods laid vigilant you were met with a high-pitched scream, the vicious murder of priest Jarred Ramn and the glamoured sight of a Vanir warrior, decked in weird shimmering full plate. It held a sword that looked absurdly long and had many copies of itself arrayed in a mimicry of its own fighting stance.
The air is cold. Rime gathers at the ceilings and the civilized god's altars, snuffing candles, braziers and censers. It points the wicked blade at your head. "I have come for the Exarch." it says in a sharp and melodious voice "Surrender and no more harm shall come to you."
You are in a veritable pickle.

The old Arkadian empire is in dissarray, with the child emperor killed and noble families battling over the capital, the empire is in a full collapse. Chaos has engulfed the land and local leaders are seizing power for themselves....
You(the players) are the guiding council of a fledgling settlement after the fall of the Arkadian empire, You settlement rests off the coast in the eastern highlands. It is up to you whether to attempt to reclaim the Imperial throne or have our people forge our own path into the future.
The first vote is to determine what kind of settlement it was before the fall
A. Fortified March- Being so close to the frontier this town was settled by veterans of the imperial wars, when Angevar III gave land grants to soldiers in exchange for long service. Due to our large amount of access to good land, our town has excellent horsebreeding facilities and stables, supplying horses to the imperial army and many prominent noblemen.
Our town starts off with a medium wall, strong militia, balanced economy and a large farming community with good access to the imperial highway system.
Stats:
Military: Medium
Industry: Medium
Trade: Medium
Magic: None
Special- Most flexible, start with bonus food and population, a strong garrison and a large supply of horses.
B. Trade port- Access to sea lanes and the imperial highway system made us a center of trade in the eastern empire. We have shipbuilding facilities and a well developed trade port.
We also have a low wall and a well equipped but poorly diciplined militia.
Stats:
Military: Weak
Industry: Medium
Trade: Strong
Magic: None
Special- start with Caravan and trade ships that can go out for trade, gives excellent information gathering and wealth accumulation, a guild is based in your town, specializing in a craft of your choice.
C. Military Headquarters- Access to the highway and being a major settlement in the east, it was designated by Emperor Charles IV 200 years ago as the Shield of the eastern frontier. The fort has a large military forge and training ground, in addition to a large workshop, capable of constructing wagons, siege weapons and other things.
We have high, strong walls and a large military garrison. We also have 3 resident battlemages from the Imperial college of Karelia.
Stats:
Military: Strong
Industry: Weak
Trade: Weak
Magic: Weak
Special: Starts with a significantly larger army and military fleet than your neighbors, you are well fortified as well
