I can't draw or paint. Its like I see every mistake I made in the process and it always looks like garbage. I hate my stupid hands....

its interesting that in homage to a past artist they treat hundreds of current artists like worthless cogs

nobody cares

i thought about this approach to animation before, it has its own fair of short comings but that aside i feel that allot of this was rotoscoped, is this true?

super neat
can't wait to see it in 215 years
ITT we study other Artists that successfully stylize a figure and correctly "break the rules".
Use everything you've learned to draw the figure in your own interpretation, do not copy it like a xerox machine instead get the idea behind the figure and retell it in your own way.
Something tricky to start off, using anatomy and keeping it simple without being too jarring.
>>2437842
I'm all for studying other artists and learning how they stylize anatomy, exaggerate the rhythm of the body etc, but that is a really badly drawn figure with a completely fucked up torso and it's not because of intentional stylization.
>>2437854
the only innacuracy is that the shoulders are too narrow
>>2437854
The idea here is to understand the how and the why, use your own interpretation on what the Artist was trying to convey like I said you don't have to draw it exactly the way it is.
post your paintings, wips, ideas, etc. if it is oil, acrylic, watercolor or whatever else. so long as there is paint on a surface. share, critique, etc
this is the most nothing painting I've seen in quite some time.
I bet you go to an art school, don't you
>>2389084
Don't be a dick. But you may like to mix some colors, especially for the sky.
To show you I am a hypocrite here is my painting (acrilic on cardboard) w/ a mono cramatic sky. I already posted it but I like to support traditional art threads .
>>2389084
nah i'm a law student and to manage the stress i've been teaching myself to paint in my (limited) spare time, for about 8ish months now
>>2389084
thanks, in my mind there was going to be more covering up the sky but all the trees were dead near me (thanks, winter) so i just kinda went with it.
My sister gave me this as a present. Have any of you guys used it? Is it any good.
>>2440701
Well, just going by the fact that the illustration on the cover doesn't look like manga at all, it's probably not that great. I really recommend the "How to Draw Manga" series by Tatsuhiro Ozaki (you can find a big ass torrent for it on TPB) if you're into that sort of thing. The series is old but not dated in the slightest, and even covers some good fundamental things to know as an artist in general.

Almost looks like akabur's artwo...OMG!
>>2440722
can't find it senpai
So when you guys are drawing for 8 hours a day, what are you actually drawing? Are you studying and aiming to improve, or just doodling?
i spend my entire day procrastination and telling myself that i'll start doing work tomorrow
>>2445631
I once spent about 1-2 months not drawing a single thing, just looking at alot of tutorials online.
mfw i actually improved significantly
>>2445639
this.
Watching youtube tutorials, listening to podcasts, looking at art actually does help. Shockingly.
Could this possibly be anymore uninspired and SHIT?
If Maciej ever had it, he's certainly lost it now. Is this dull lifeless shit what you really want to do?
>>2440772
Maciej made it, so it must be good. Maciej the incredibly skilled high profile concept artist.
>>2440772
Pretty cool shot actually if this is a concept art piece to establish the mood and scale of a scene in a movie. Would work really nice as a slowly upward panning shot. If this is a marketing illustration, it's got too many photo elements for my taste.
It reminds me of that sphinx scene from the neverending story
Any childhood stories you'd like to share /ic/?
I had an artbook and sketchbook hidden under my bed in middle school and I'd practice drawing breasts for hours a day. My mom found them and threw them away and grounded me for 3 weeks.

I used to buy a lot of those how to draw tutorial books back when I was in elementary school from the book fairs. One day I bought a how to draw fantasy characters book that had this really cool, buff warrior dude on the front, so naturally, I bought it. I mostly drew ripped superhero type characters back then(and lots of dbz shit.) but when I was going through the book on the school bus I noticed that the book had a tutorial on how to draw this hot pixie chick, she looked kinda cool so I decided to draw her. When...

How do you think of good character designs?
I've been struggling with drawing from imagination and designing interesting characters. Nothing really comes to mind and I end up drawing the same stuff over and over.
Do you guys have any tips or anything for this problem?
>>2445993
you steal other peoples designs and call them your own
>>2445993
Read "The skillful huntsman", It may give you a prompt. Should be in the artbook thread.
Sorry for not giving a more useful answer, I only draw anime waifus.
>>2445998
Looks interesting! Thank you!
Going through /ic/ lately, something occurred to me that I'm sure has occurred to a lot of people. You get a lot of people throwing their two cents around, with advice pulling beginner artists in every direction, and they're all anonymous. We have no idea which ones are experienced artists, and which ones are just blind beginners leading the blind. Hearing the wrong advice early on can be pretty damaging to one's progress, especially at a stage where a person cannot discern good from bad. On other platforms, I'll always weigh a person's advice against...

I don't understand how you learn to draw and still develop a distinct style.
The books I got from the library just seem like I'm copying what I see, is that really helping?
>>2439729
Ok here is literally what style is, tell someone to draw a dog, a car, a girl. Whatever they draw without reference or any further description is their style. I'd go to my computer and I'd draw an American animation style bulldog with exaggerated front legs and I'd colour it loosely. Tada style. If you ask Kim jun gi he'd draw a Rottweiler in detail with a brush pen. Tada style. Get it?
>>2439729
It's the way you see interpret reality and use your tools. There are many different ways say to describe the form of the nose, and aslong as there's some design sense from reality then its usually gonna be good. Hair is random, people describe the randomness of hair in different ways, e.g their style. Everyone uses different tools and use them differently. E.g using brush pen instead of a normal pen, using sides of pencil more, pressing harder, etc..
>>2439729
when you really learn to DRAW, then you don't copy shit.
You grab your pen either wacom or a real one, sketch, construct and finish what you like to see and this is your style.
If you underlay "reference" under your drawing layer it's not the same as just doing what you want to.
Pls help me /ic/, I'm lost.
It's high time I started taking art seriously and I'm lost at where to start. I have some knowledge on anatomy and light and shadow, and my best works were just studies of still life and heads but it took me a long ass time to do these.
I want to git gud and make the most of my drawing time, there are no decent art schools in my country and I feel like I'm gonna waste years for nothing (there is classical painting but rich kids buy their way in and they only accept 15 students a year).
My dilemma is I don't know...

Does anyone have the Loomis/Death Note "Not Gonna Make It" picture?
Also /ic/ memes and OC thread I guess

Hey I posted that question. Neat.
