you dont have the spark
Too many, also Figure Drawing by Loomis, it's out because I'm studying it this month.
If you want to know about any of the books tell me.
You are employed as a concept artist by george lucas for a new sci fi movie that isn't star wars.
He says to you
>Hey anon I want you to make an old vw beetle look like it has been converted into a space craft.
What ideas would you come up with?
Do your own homework.
So basically what you're saying is George Lucas is making a feature film about the Jetsons.
Play by expectations first, then develop your own ideas of what they would entail.
Consider real life applications of such a development.
Be imaginative.
it's this what vilppu meant when he was talking about thinking about creating 3D shapes and think about the gesture?
You add a lot of lines that don't make sense. Start smaller, practice boxes in perspective first. Your gesture is stiff. Generally I'd advise to concentrate on one of these two things first if you're a beginner. I personally would start with understanding 3D forms before you move on to gesture, since it requires a basic understanding of how shapes work. (Else you'll just copy/ exaggerate 2D lines)
How do i fix this drawing to make perspective make them look like giants?
how do i make this scene more dynamic?

You said the magic word yourself.
Think of how you would use vanishing points to draw skyscrapers. You do know how to do that right? The same principle applies to megamonsters.

I think that they are trying to make some money on the side. They know some basic things and have a common, unoffensive art style that has the potential to gain followers. "Good", just like art, is objective. Plenty of people think this is "good", we know its shit. That's really the only thing to this thread. These people are to places where their art is so common place and copy paste that they can try to shill themselves without a shadow of a doubt in their heads. I hope your different anon,...

Just have a good laugh or cringe at it and then move on. Just ignore it if you think it's shit, vote with your dollar and all that. If the creator manages to get supporters by producing shit, then good for them. If not, well, no harm done except for themselves, so there's no reason to complain there either.

Can I get any opinion on these? Is there any use in continuing my passion, or am I garbage?
Stop tracing. Start from scratch (read the sticky, that has resources for newbies). Post in beginner thread.

You are symbol drawing. Start at the beginner thread. Watch some stuff by Steve Houston on youtube. He's really good at getting structural ideas across.
I'm joining an Illustration program here in Canada. What do you think of the student's work?
http://www.sheridanillustration.com/SsheridanIlluGradShow2014/work.html
Decent?
>>2449165
Look, nigga. If you're going to an arts school, it's going to be either Sheridan or OCAD. OCAD's alright, and Sheridan's pretty good for animation and illustration. It's what you make of the program that counts. If you put in the hours and the passion, you'll be as good as the best illustrators there. But yeah, their illustration program's pretty good m8.

you realize that student work literally doesn't mean a single fucking thing. I hate when people say 'oh ma god muh student work lookn good ere, muh join it' ... Seriously.
The ONLY thing that matter, literally the only this is - do you have the mental capacity/propensity/comprehension that you want to improve? If you got that you'll get better no point even going to a course. They teach you out-dates fine arts bullshit that won't actually get you any experience in the medium at all.

I need helping adding coloring to this picture as quickly as possible. I'm well aware that the line art is kind of crap in a lot of places, I just want to get it done.
Any and all suggestions are welcome, I especially want to get some atmospheric perspective and a bit of depth of field in the background. I have a;ways been terrible with coloring pictures with backgrounds.
Thanks in advance dudes.
Any suggestions?
>>2448610
Atmospheric perspective = make the background lighter than the foreground. Make the colors more blue than the colors in the foreground. And keep less contrast between the tones in the background objects. This is all assuming it is daytime.
You probably should have left more than one day to render your image for the competition. :)
If this is an entry for the contest, don't bother. Contest entries are supposed to be in a landscape orientation for billboard advertising.
Post a before and after of your art being ruined by yourself, for the glory. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece, but I've got the need to see some effort thrown away, and laugh about it.
Self-bump.
Kek.

So far I've picked up the sketchbooks of Sienkiewicz, Terada, and Kim Jung Gi. Are there any other artists with elite-tier sketchbooks out there?

Not this meme again please.
there's plenty of wonderful artists out there, it all depends on what youre interested in
i got cory loftis's new art book and it's quite nice. nothing life changing but pretty great
I don't know if this is the right place to ask and it is a very silly question but;
are these white spaces there beacause the artist wanted to frame it this way or is there another reason?
another example
>>2448259
Yeah I'm pretty sure the white space is there because of the frame of the original painting. Since there is no round jpegs people filled the empty space with white.
>>2448259
For the circle compositions, there was a tools back in the 18th-19th century called a Claude glass which people would use to paint from. It was basically just a mirror, but allowed you to frame a landscape to paint without having to worry about too many outside details. It was mostly used for landscapes, though, so I don't know if that's the case for the portrait you posted, and definitely doesn't apply to the second picture either. It's possible the second painting was painted originally on a wall...

Would you pay 1 Million for this? Retrospective one by Allan Banford

Looks like he took a rust texture from cgtextures and apllied random photoshop filters then printed it on canvas
...Disgusting. I would pay the price of the canvas, at best.
Yes I'll buy it
Greetings /ic/, first time poster. My girlfriend told me she was trying to draw "dexter" from some show she likes. I told her to show me, and after a lot of convincing she sent me this. What do you think? Is she hopeless? Can she even be taught? What do I say? What advice can I even give her? If we have a child will they be able to draw?
Give her the loomis.

how to kill the ego /ic/ ?
i think ego is a major, major issue with artists. at least i know that for me it is. it has always held me back, and is still, as i make tremendous effort to subdue it, holding me back massively.
here's some of the effects ego has on your art and life:
> intimidated by other guys around your skill level
> too proud or embarassed to self promote
> too proud or embarassed to pursue clients and work on acquiring clients with the necessary driveComment too long. Click here to view the full text.

/ic/ really fucks with my confidence, I added 3 of you fucks on snapchat a few months back and I found my progress pic in a cringe thread a few weeks after.
Ever since then I just study and don't post my art anywhere.
/ic/ seems to think that when an individual posts work online that the artist believe it is amazing and that the artist must think it is perfect.
/ic/ believes people should not be allowed to post their work until it is to their standards.
It's the problem with having so many...
