Can anyone tell me what the literal English translation for the word 'asgardsreien' mean? Does it just mean the wild hunt?
"Ride of Asgard"
>>2453262
this. and since OP seems to not know about Asgard: It's the one of the Nine Worlds in Norse mythology, and is home to the Æsir (which, along with the Vanir, comprise the two Norse pantheons). Odin and Thor are Æsir.

Would asgardsrei effectively mean the same thing without the last 'en'?
What's the least clumsy way to add colors to sketches you do outdoors? I'm thinking of bringing watercolor pencils and a Pentel Aqua Brush, but the thought of digging through all those pencils to get the color I want drives me up the wall.
A water brush and a little (altoids) tin or pouch with some (half) pans or dried dabs of paint from a tube seems to be working for people.
Limiting your palette down to a maximum of two colors
For some information on materials for urban sketching, you can also read The Art of Urban Sketching by Gabriel Campanario.
If you want to see what the last art movement looks like and world peace and all that whatever do a painting like this.
Get a canvas and an easel and do a painting outside or inside or whatever where you place the canvas in front of you so it blocks out what is behind in. Then you fill in with paint what you think goes there based on your memory of what was there before.
Magritte more or less discovered this so he deserves some credit but he never actually did the painting specifically he just made surrealist art ABOUT this kind of painting.

I haven't actually tried it cause I can't realize this stuff twice but I think in theory you could do a digital painting and get the same effect or at least simulate it.
Try finding an image, then lasso tool the middle and delete it, and digitally paint what you remember of what was there.
I'm not sure how effective that would be so if you have access to the materials to do it traditionally I'd recommend that.
>>2452985
I'm not sure that story is right. Pretty sure someone suggested that as an exercise and then he did that to fuck around with them because it's stupid

Main goal of this is to realize memory is the point of life. The afterlife is your memories backwards. Any good memories become bad memories. To make the afterlife more enjoyable you need to live a boring life ( I hesitate to use the word sad so let's go with boring).
In order to bring this to a mass market we need to make games for virtual reality that can simulate making this type of painting, and have people make these types of paintings who don't have access to the materials necessary to do one...

Which cartoonist/animator/comic book artist/mangaka draws the best women in your opinion? Especially the face. You can pick one artist for women's faces and one for women's bodies.
Face: Phil Noto
Body: Takeshi Koike
>>2450721
Noto? Really? All his women look like obnoxious cunts and they have the same face with an extremely limited set of expressions.

but that was his opinion?
Ive been finding timelapsed art videos really useful lately, learning alot from them and they are usually pretty inspiring for when you are in a rut. Anyone else got any?

Are there any programs or forums out there that can force me to draw in a productive way?
I wasted my money on Watts Atelier only to find out it takes fucking forever for them to grade assignments and the forum is no help.
If you need someone else to motivate you then you'll never gonna make it.
>>2452749
"I should read Loomis so I can get this assignment done the best I can" is a lot better than "I should read Loomis until I hopefully can draw good"
>>2452721
>he fell for the watts atelier meme
so I've never really been part of any arts communities , and I have heard you can get into a lot of hot water because there are no set rules.
I'd just like to get everyone's two cents on this
I make spray-paint stencils, and I'm not really sure to what extent I should credit my sources
>always and for everything anon
but it gets grey in my head at least pretty quickly
if I make a stencil of a photo, is that stencil a copy of the photo; or a derivative work?
does the medium of the original stock make...

what kind of beta faggot gives a fuck about giving credit?
>>2452335
as a street artist, if someone thinks you did something really uncool you can get your work defaced all over town
for directly stolen stencils it happens pretty must straight away, the original artist gets some locals to tag all over it and they try to track you down in person
now that's about as far as you can go in terms of street art theft
but for instance if I did a stencil of a rembrandt, someone who didn't know the original might credit me with the whole composition
I'm having some trouble while studying Michael Hampton's orks. Basically, he talks about cervical, thoracic, and lumbar parts of a gesture. Okay, cool. To boot he illustrates it very well so I can understand, they're supported by primarily C curves. Alright.
But what do I do when the C of a certain part of the spine isn't visible? Like if the head is covering the neck, which is common, or if the subject is crouched and you can't see the lumbar? I could dinfer, but it doesn't mesh well with the gesture and immediately interrupts the flow.
I...

I'm thinking of something like this?
>>2452291
At fist I didn't like this way, emphasizing the mannequinn, but I've really come to appreciate it. It gives me a clearer image of what I'm (trying) to understand, and the contruction means less chances for me to scribble around in a panic (compensating for not knowing what I'm doing).
I tried using more straights to keep from scribbling, and less curves. I realize that the mode of attack is different for every pose, but it'd be nice if I could have a basic formation. Maybe it's...

Regarding this method, I'm always worried bout making it too 'busy'. But when using the simple, few lines as possible method that Proko talks about, it looks a lot worse.

duplicate color layer, blur and set layer to soft light

Are we supposed to know what the fuck are you talking about ?
I'm this close to being over art for good.
Everything sounds bleak as fuck for any sort of art career. Why shouldn't I ever just draw for fun when I feel like it?
No fortune. No fame. Just grueling hours of work in uninspired environments as another faceless grunt.
>>2451444
I heard its easier to sell traditional art and you dont have to be a master, unlike with digital.
>>2451448
lol no. Certainly not if you want a career that can pay the bills and where you can save up money for retirement. Digital art is where all the steady, real art related jobs are at. Plus, thanks to Patreon it's now even possible to make money if you aren't particularly good, as long as you offer something that an audience enjoys.

Sis gave me her old ipad mini 2, so I'm thinking about getting a stylus to draw on it. What does /ic/ reccomend?
grab yourself this stylus
-Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus
this one will give you access to undo and redo and some basic pressure senstivity. DO NOT BOTHER with the expensive ones. they dont work.
also get your self a glove and cut out three fingers so it serves as a palm rejection. dont rely on the ipad to do this for you. its shit at it. you could even buy one for it £20 from this american company.
lastly i would recommend you that you get this guys lessons. buy one a month and work hard, you'll love after the hard trouble. i have an ipad...
