-Peach Skin tone
+Coffee + shaving cream
=the shaving cream neutralizes the organic component of the coffee, so it wont smell & will be closer to a pigment than a drink. The shaving cream also adds white to the brownness of the coffee, making a orange-peach color.

-Charcoal stick
+stick + fire
Just burn the end of a stick.
=I personally like this more than storebought charcoal as you have more control with a "handle" stick component. Downside is you only get a handful of good lines out of one burn, but the lines are really phenomenal, especially for nature drawing. You can gather up 10 sticks, light all of the ends, get good lines out of each, then just relight the batch again.

Personally, I'm looking for:
DIY pigments
DIY Chalk
DIY Gesso
DIY Ink
DIY Paper
DIY Canvas
DIY pallette
& Good ideas for cheap bookbinding

Yeah there's something nice about this.

Hey there, I am making a type of American Hentai. My style is comic book like spider man, x man, JLA and all that good stuff but at the same time I admire the hentai art style of artist like Shiwasu No Okina, ISUTOSHI, and Yamatagawa. Since the doujin I am making is a parody of a sex scene from a comic book should I make it resemble the artist as much as possible or should I make it my own style? The artist style is like Jack Kirby and my art style is a bit like michael turner. what should I do???

Do some sketches, thumbs, concepts, as they are in your mind, write what you think down on a page. See if it makes sense. Probably shelve it for now.

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.

AVOID asking unrelated questions, There is a question thread for that.

Visit the usual "Art book Thread" to find your desired books.

Do not forget to PLEASE RESIZE and crop your images before uploading them. 1kpx is fine.
Before asking "what should I read/view/study/learn," Read the f*cking sticky, it's there for a reason: >>1579290
There's a new sticky in town! You can see it at https://www.reddit.com/comments/46sb9k/

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Let's have a thread on your stats for where you post your art. Tumblr as the example but whatever works. This isn't meant to be a self promotion thread since we have one of those.
Here post your stats, how long you've been drawing, how long you've been uploading to a blog/profile, etc.

I'll post my modest stat screen to get the ball rolling, but I'm curious what kind of numbers some of you guys have. Any questions/tips about self promotion also encouraged.

And for those of you who put all your art in a shoebox under your bed, never to show anyone, and scoff at all the soulless attention-whores who share their art, hit the hide button or something.

...this is quite difficult. You just want us to collect screencaps of all the notes/likes/favs we got on all forms of social media? At least come to the table with an app that can connect to facebook which can connect to all those platforms. Too much effort to wave my e-peen.
>>

Tumblr literally has a stats screen
>>
>>2447663
Out of curiosity what's with all this stat collecting anon? I've been following your threads and I'm just wondering what your aim might be.

I have 1.5k followers +, started "trying" a year ago, but haven't updated since December. I have around 50 posts. Top posts has around 7k+ notes, average posts a few k in likes and shares. I was very fandom specific though, so I stopped posting because I wanted to do more original stuff.

I don't see the follower thing as a big thing..just continue to git gud. If it's a big deal however just post constant fanart (with effort and consistency in quality). Once you have followers with big followings they tend to do reblog/share and that exposed your art to blogs with similar interests. If you link your social medias deviantart/instagram/tumblr you can multiply your exposure as well.

Though if you're really good the numbers will come regardless.

Any of you get those instances when the color looks weird and saturated, all warm and shit on mobile but everything looks perfectly normal on desktops/laptop screens? Any fixes for this or something?

get a 2500$ monitor and calibrate it

if you have an iphone, you should trust your iphone when it comes to colors. apple did an absolutely fantastic job in its color reproduction.
>>
>>2453982

Poor as shit rn all i have is a samsung phone ah but thanks anyway anon I'll keep this in mind if i ever get money
>>
>>2453979

In this case, its likely the phone that is displaying the correct colours, let me try and explain. There are two types of panel that all LCD screens can use (phone screens, monitors etc) and those are either a TN panel or an IPS panel.

TN panels were and still are the most common when it comes to desktop/laptop monitors, but they are very outdated and slowly becoming obsolete. Even on modern TN panels the colour reproduction is too cold and inconsistent, and they have terrible viewing angles both up/down and left/right.

IPS panels on the other hand have been a standard for mobile phones for pretty much a decade, or any monitor built specifically for image editing or colour work. They have far better colour reproduction and huge viewing angles. look at the Imac screens, or any modern smartphone and you'll see.

It's only in recent years that IPS panels have started seeing a lot more usage in desktop monitors and laptop screens. They were stupid expensive a few years ago but you can pick up a lot of entry level IPS displays for around 150-300$ that are really popular with digital painters. Just google ips monitor, there's loads :P

What are all the ways someone can turn their art skill into greater amounts of money than average for an artist?

I find it hard to think up ways to really get a lot out of art. Teaching market is already saturated. "Advice" market is niche as fuck. Selling tutorials is chump change.

Freelance, promotion, nepotism, whatever. Hit me with any ideas you have.

Probably not what you are looking, but caricature.

One of my friends does it for a living, and they can make 100 dollars an hour when they are hired for events.

You can also just set up most places and charge per person, 5 to 10 dollars a face is not bad for quick money.

This is the way to go since you'll be available to a lot of people who aren't interested in taking the time to contact artists through the internet. Most of them will be people who just happen to be where your booth is and want to spend some money to have fun, so if you're planning on doing this, try to interact and give them a fun time.
