/fit/ trying to change shitty diet, but chicken tastes like garbage. Any good recipes? Also other lean meats welcome as well.

Problem is when its not freshly made it tastes disgusting. Maybe have preseasoned raw chicken ready to cook.

I'm here for workout advice. I turned 28 recently, and I've decided it's time to stop letting myself go. I've quit smoking, and drastically changed my diet. No sodas, no bread (except a bit of wheat bread), lots of veggies/fruits, lots of water, smaller portions, and no late night eating anymore.
My next step is to sign up for a gym. I realize I am not accustomed to any workout routine at all and I need to get into it without hurting myself.
I'm 5'10, and I currently weigh 280 lbs. I have smoked cigarettes for 10 years...

read the sticky and look into beginner routines such as Strong lifts. Start tracking calories (most important step) and eat at a 500 deficit from your TDEE. You need to do a bit of research on your own and the sticky is a good start

Is a bicep tear just caused by basically curling your arm while doing a deadlift or too much weight?
Can you prevent it by doing just double overhand grip? Is it bad to do mixed grip because I've been doing some mixed grip deads lately and I don't wanna fuck my shit up

Usually its caused by either starting the pull with a bent arm or trying to bend it mid-lift. Its still quite a rare occurrence.
You won't tear a bicep with double overhand, but you probably won't be able to use anywhere near enough weight for most purposes.

Yes, you can prevent bicep tears by doing double overhand grip. However, standard double overhand is the weakest of the 3 deadlift grips.
Mixed grip - strong, possible bicep tears but probably won't happen so long as arms are kept extended.
Standard double overhand - weak, won't result in bicep tears. Probably need to use straps.
Double overhand hook grip - strong, no bicep tears. What powerlifters use, hard to do.

my dad taught me this weird thing once that i've never done because long necks are beautiful and elegant, and i don't want a hulk neck.
in your case though you should try it. shrug your shoulders and try to sort of pull your neck into your shoulders, the more rediculous and turtle-esque you look the higher chance is youre doing it right. best of luck

Zyzz is dead, he died two years ago from a unknown heart condition.
So I'm one my 3rd week and it's my last day I was supposed to complete 10x3 with 285 and couldn't do it. My pec felt like it was sure to get injured if I continued because it was still sore from yesterday's workout. I only made it to the 5th set. Should I go ahead and test my max next week or should I try to complete Saturday's workout Monday?

Not really but I see it more as a "benevolent cycle". Sort of the opposite of a "vicious cycle".
The vicious cycle is that you feel like you can't make any progress or positive life changes because you're too depressed. Because of that you get even more depressed... we all know how it works.
I think getting fit helps you see that change is possible and get into a positive mindset that can help you fix other things in your life and mentality that cause depression.
How many of you have done Convict Conditioning? As in, by the book, following the program from Step 1.

i read it and think it's crap, don't know with some people recommend it, some of the last progressions are insane, not even top gymnasts can do 1 arm handstand pushups for reps, i've been doing calisthenics only for 2 years and i can do about 15 one arm pushups and 4 one arm pullups, but not even 1 close feet straight torso one arm pushups. but thats my opinion
