I actually went to r/nofap to see what the meme was all about. The impression I got from it was that it was never meant to turn you into a superhuman or dramatically ramp up your libido or anything like that. It seemed to mostly just be a community for guys recovering from relatively extreme porn habits. In their case, it actually makes sense to just break off the habit entirely (i.e. reboot).
