Hey guys, so I'm looking to buy a rice cooker. I'm not really up to date on what brands are good and what's crap, but after poking around a bit I've seen Zojirushi being brought up a bit. They seem top of the line though, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to drop $150+ on a rice cooker. Are there any other brands/models you guys would recommend? I had something along the lines of a $60-80 stainless steel cooker in mind.
How often would you use it? Do you want to use it for brown rice too?
Rice is one of the easiest things to make so I don't think it's worth getting an expensive piece of equipment that will take up a bunch of counter space unless you use it almost every day and alternate between several different grains.

It's actually not, and many people can't make rice well.
Does anyone have a good recipe for Japanese style curry? I've made instant curry from those big rectangles before but they don't have the same kind of taste as the curry I've had in Japanese restaurants. They were always really spicy and had a lighter color compared to the kind I had in restaurants.
I live in a rural ass area though so I don't really have any kind of asian stores.

Are we talking kokoichi or something? Because the major chains tend to have rather different style than home made Japanese curry.

So, there's a new drink pwder out there called soylent that claims it is capable of replacing at least a couple meals a day. It's incredibly sustainable, apparently very healthy, and its all in one nature really appeals to me. It's fully vegan and has tons of nutrients as well. The problem is, I can't find any neutral press on it. Want to try sardines. I don't think I've ever had them before and I'm not a huge fan of fish (apart from tuna), but I like anchovies and it seems like sardines are in the same ballpark, in addition to being healthy and cheap.
Any thoughts? I'm thinking about just starting with canned sardines on some melba toasts. I guess I just eat the contents of the can, I don't need to skin/debone anything? Total sardine virgin here.

How should I do mac and cheese? I haven't done any in years and I feel like I want to it some but isn't it literally just pasta and cheese? Is there a way to make it a little bit healthier without ruining the comfort food factor?
