People who hate the prequels fall into one of three camps.
1. Reddit teenagers who think "prequels suck" because the internet told them to think that. Their brains are literally not developed enough to form opinions outside of groupthink.
2. People who were edgelord teenagers when the prequels came out and "hated" them because they hated everything. Probably just unintelligent in most matters.
3. Baby boomers who won't accept anything but Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill.
The prequels are excellent science fiction movies. Objectively, there is no reason to dislike them.

The prequels are not bad movies. They are simply not STAR WARS as braindeads in the aforementioned groups understand it. Now Disney has catered to these, combined with the normie "fans" who don't know anything about Star Wars, and produced Avengers IV: Lightsabers, without an ounce of creativity.
This movie is truly bad. It is truly worse than any of the prequels. And it will truly ruin this franchise. Fuck whoever likes The Force Awakens.

What would have been a LOGICAL, canonical prequel plot?
Anakin falls to the dark side only in order to save the life of someone he loves.
During this entire event he is clearly emotional torn and could even be shown crying.
At the end he could express that he did everything for the person he loves and shown that he's not truly evil.
Only then to believe that the love of his life betrays him.
But after all of this, the first question he could ask after becoming Vader wouldn't be concerning his own well being, but that of the person he still loves.
Oh wait.
That's exactly what happened.
The general story of the prequels made sense. It was just horribly executed with shit dialogue, performances and effects.
Anakin's portrayal and the portrayal of his fall to the dark side should have been handled a lot better.

No its just as garbage as the prequels.
The same issue that plagued J.J. Abrams' Star Trek films plagues this one: it feels less like a legitimate installment in the franchise and more like a generic action movie with a famous brand name slapped onto it. Plus, it's essentially a remake of the 1977 original, with many plot elements from it (along with The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) recycled practically verbatim. None of the new characters stand out as particularly memorable or capable of carrying this new trilogy, the action is glossy with X-wing/TIE fighter battles that are headache-inducing to follow, the humor and references are forced, and even John Williams' score is basically wallpaper most of the time.
