If you don't already have some homebrew version with friends, follow the MTGO card pool and banlist (and please spread this to your friends that start playing with you). Currently the only place Pauper is officially supported by Wizards is online, and they have a card pool and banlist, therefore that is the format we should be using offline on paper as well, since decks and cards can transfer to games between each other with no confusion.

I have already gathered and built Mono Black Control and Affinity and I'm halfway building Tron. What should I build after this? I'm planning to play these decks with my cousin by picking random decks.
I'm unclear on the pauper ban list, do you also include the regular banlists for legacy, modern or whatever as well as the pauper list?

This is my first time hosting and creating something like this, so this is a pilot of sorts for me.
If there's enough interest for a continuation after the first thread, I'll continue making them.

We all know that Wizards has, perhaps not the best writing or design team on board for magic right now. It has led me to remember fondly the set I started with, Mirrodin, and that got me thinking.
When do all of you think magic hit its peak, or peaks. In terms of good story, in terms of interesting settings and flavor, And of course in terms of good game mechanics?
I'm sure for a lot of people that will be three completely different answers, and I'm also sure there is a lot of nostalgia in this but I hold that mirrodin is the best magic has been, at least while i have played.

Story: The entire Rath Cycle, from its beginnings during Weatherlight to the conclusion in Apocalypse. I loved the entire saga. If I had to pick my favorite piece, I'd take Urza Block.
Flavor/Setting: Kamigawa, actually. It was daring, unique, generally tried to be faithful to the source, and I honestly just liked it.
Mechanics? Time Spiral. In fact, Ravnica/TS/Coldsnap was Magic's high point for me. Everything else has been, at best, a sidegrade or, at worst, fucking terrible.

The reason we aren't roleplaying yet is because I plan to let the community to choose what the server will be. Then I will start enforcing slight rules.

Combat also got revamped because Microsoft finally started losing 12yos to buy the game. Instead of sprinting at eachother like retards or going #mlg and running in a circle while hitting a guy with the mouse sensitivity of an arthritic old man, you now cautiously engage eachother with a kind of sword + board combo. Or you can just shoot the guy to death with arrows as he thinks his shield covers his whole body, whatever.

Why is it fair, or unfair, for a GM to make his rolls behind a screen or keep the enemies' stats hidden from the players?

Neither method is inherently fair or unfair.
The rationale for why it's "fair" though usually amounts to the argument hiding your rolls means your players won't know the enemy stats and therefore can't use meta knowledge to win.
I disagree with this; meta knowledge means jack dick in combat. Knowing out of character how many times you need to hit an enemy to kill it doesn't change the number of times you need to hit it. I don't tell my players stat blocks, but it's no skin off my nose if they figure it out.
Dice rolls I usually let my players see because again, it's not like it changes anything. I feel it's a matter of trust. I like to let my players know I have no intention of lying or fudging rolls.

You take a bit longer, having been burdened with the children. It takes a second to get them off of you without waking them.

2017, the Scandinavian government proposes several lines of artificial workers to replace menial or dangerous tasks for humans. The proposal is met with a resounding support from the public at large as well as delegations unanimously and production reaches peak en-mass in 2019.
By early 2020 construction, factory, and even social service jobs are almost entirely delegated to artificial workers, some embrace this new living, but others are embittered to be out of a manual labor job.
In 2021, the first social artifices or "Arties" are produced for in-home social interaction service, performing house work, cooking, cleaning, or just being a friend to whomever bought them.
As the years proceed from 2021 to 2024, the market for Arties explodes, new models and variants are produced and shipped daily to homes across the country, and even well into the rest of Europe and the Americas.
Their more advanced social software giving them a degree of self awareness and emotional perception causes many Arties to easily distinguish the line between human freedom and artificial servitude.
By 2026 Arties both new and old begin to sue for equal rights, protesting and even using virus tactics to spread the word, and the awareness, to non-Artie models of artificials.
The countries are split in decision as some populace sympathize with the Arties, but the more bellicose an more numerous believe they could be dangerous or that their very nature makes them unjust and unsuited for real citizenship.
The bill comes and is shot down numerous times and by 2027 Arties begin to organize terrorist attacks to make their voice heard.
Outraged, the government responds in the most callous yet humane way possible, Arties are officially outlawed under penalty of dismantling, any caught by police within city limits will likewise be dismantled with warning.

The resulting scene can only be described as a military crackdown, arties being brutally dismantled by force in the streets and in homes, those with a better mind for self preservation flee the city and into the wilderness, but some manage to stay in an illegal underground that is consistantly hounded by police.
By 2029, walls are erected outside of every major city and pathways in and out are heavily guarded to prevent any artificials from coming in.
Out in the countryside, however, the Arties seem to thrive in a new way of life.
