Well /tg/ I'd say its about story time, and to begin, this story does have a moral.
Don't Trust the Tiefling. Ever.
This story involves a full party, though focuses on a pair of characters. Xun'istkiira, the tiefling, played by yours truly, and Catalina Rosewater, a female human duelist played by my buddy Midnight.

After safely joining the group down there myself, we continued along, our duelist taking point (to stay away from me presumably). He got ambushed by six chokers.
After they lifted him about another fifteen feet into the air I managed to get into the fray, followed in short order by our Kineticist (nuker). I promptly killed one of them.

I'm building a costume for the renaissance festival I go to multiple times every year. And I want you guys to give me some advice on what would go good with the pieces I post. Hopefully that's /tg/ related, haha. To keep it more traditional game oriented let's also say this is a LARP outfit thread.
My budget is about $650 dollars and I already have a suit of butted steel chainmail I got off amazon a few years ago. It's held up very well for how much I paid for it. Some rings loosen every now and then, it being butted and all, but I inspect it before...

here's the gorget in question. other pictures show it as being able to articulate slightly, and I will probably put a suede mantle on over the vest before donning the gorget anyway.
The spaulders that I plan to add to it. I'm open to suggestions for different spaulders. I selected these because they're affordable at $65, but I'd like opinions on ones that might look better. I'd really like a larger top pauldron with an added besagew that gives overall more coverage of the shoulder area.
The arm guards. They're simple, cheap, and functional. I plan to only wear one on what would be my swinging arm. The couter is a nice touch, and why I'd like a set of spaulders that add one to the armpit area for about the same price.

It's a close second.
You wake up, head throbbing, in a place you've never seen. You flip over from your back onto your stomach, and try to stand. It's difficult, especially with your legs restricted by tight knit lengths of cotton, but you manage, and dust yourself off as you look around.
You seem to be in a place with many trees. You've heard daddy talk about them, 'forist', or so you think. The ground is slightly damp, and the air is chilly. You've never experienced natural cold before, and you don't like it.
You walk a few paces, and see a long thing with many tiny legs climbing one of the trees, and for some reason you aren't sure of you jump back in fear. You really wish you were home right now. You wish daddy and mommy were here. You wish one of them would pick you up and carry you back to your nice warm crib.
Speaking of warm, you feel very hungry. Usually mommy warms you up a bottle of goat's blood by now, or at least pours some cereal onto your high-chair table for you. While contemplating this, you see a small mouse scamper by. It looks at you meekly, and you return the glance.

Hmm, it could work. I'm seeing it as a "cup and dice" system that works a bit like One Roll Engine. Everyone slams down their cups at the same time, declares actions. Everyone reveals, rolls determine which order the actions "go off first" (or perhaps which actions "win" might be a better way to put it).

Polishing up an Attack on Titan homebrew spinoff based on the Titan World homebrew created a few years ago. It's been sitting on the backburner for a while, but I've finally worked up the motivation to finish it. I have a lot of it already done, but I'm still torn up about the human v. human rules.

Rarely do you see shields in games. Aside from the obvious mirror shield, what kinds of neat qualities are there that a shield could possess?

Regenerating health bar that absorbs damage before it happens.
Limited additional armor that is weak but cancels overkill if it's destroyed so that damage doesn't bleed into HP.
Absorbing attacks and feeding them into a dynamic energy reservoir that can be used by the character, but can get overloaded and doesn't allow for gained charge to be used immediately.

Unfortunately, though, I can't really think of any, largely because there's not a ton of RPGs that are set during the golden age of piracy. The various d20 splats are almost universally terrible (not just in regards to naval combat, but just in general). 7th Sea SHOULD have good naval rules,...
