See this guy? He is feeling a bit lonely. You'll help him though, right?

We start with the alignment table. If it turns out evil, he won't judge, he'll just be a bit disappointed.
First roll is a 1d10. First roll to show sticks.

Rolling a 3 gets you either Chaotic Good, or Neutral Evil. Go ahead and hold on to that choice for now, we'll see which fits best later.

Let's see, for the next table I'll just put other- that'll be the Origin table- unless 4chan's /tg/ counts as extradimensional. or something.

The next roll is 3d20, and that'll tell us what it looks like.

On the other hand, there aren't many places in 40k that I would want to live anyway.

Life is stranger than fiction.

“Gah, watch where you’re poking those fingers!”

So sayeth the bard, Ptolomous Rye.

“Quit yer cursin’, lass. The sooner we get it done with, the better. And to get it done properly, it has to be –tight-.”

“SSSSSssssss!!!”

And thus it is the bard’s noblest venture to experience life first and foremost, to collect from its vast and limitless pool of experiences and to share but a glimpse of them, a piece of the truth of all creation with the common and not so common man his performances touch.

“Get her legs, lad! No, not her legs, the wobbly bit what looks like a snake’s arse! And for the love of Orren, mind yar fangs.’”

Life is strange indeed, and by some mischief of the gods, you’ve been granted a chance for more of it. To feel the wind upon your brow once more, to breathe deep of life's peculiar perfume and feel its taste upon your....

Well, no one ever said that life was 100% kind, but as you stand here holding a thrashing gorgon’s midsection to a makeshift operating table, feeling your bones groan in protest as the crazed cleric bandages her wounds, you can at least say that Ptolomous was not wrong. Life was definitely strange, and only bound to get stranger given your new… “condition”.

You are Lee, bard, lover, fighter, and more recently numbered among the walking dead. After being forcibly torn from the glorious twilight of the afterlife, you awoke in the recesses of a dungeon with a lot on your mind and not a lot of meat on your bones (none to be precise). At least before you had a chance to sink into the distraction that such a rude awakening could impose, you found yourself swept up in the heat of action, falling in line with your skeletal brothers to fend off an invasion of some sort.

You livened the pace with a bit of rhythm, put some life into those old bones and with a little brute force, a little bit of luck, and a charming musical number managed to turn the conflict on the other side around on its head, saving the life of a mother gorgon and possibly three adventurers in the process. Now you are here, trying to help patch up the damages and keep the nice snake lady from biting the kindly priest. And as the frankly ludicrous amount of anaesthetic she’d been given kicks in, it gets easier.

Oh yeah!

As her breathing slows, and her eyes glaze over, you can finally give your aching back a rest, snapping the vertebrae back in place with a satisfying snap. That just leaves you, a skeleton, and a man of the cloth sitting by each other with nothing but hundreds of pounds of snake and a thick silence between you.

It's technically for a competition and not specific to any system, although I'm mostly just having fun. Would appreciate feedback on legibility/scenario design/etc.

Personally I feel like once you get past the PC revulsion the characterizations work fairly well, most fantasy races were based on earlier racial stereotypes

Are you fucking serious?
If I put out an Adventure Path where the PCs are tasked with assassinating the President of the United Columbian States, I'd be brought in for questioning, not given an award. In this day and age, you could get internet lynched and never get a job again for sending that to a company contest.
I'm not even offended, just dumbfounded that your retarded ass expects this to fly with Wizards of the Coast, much less Paizo. You could at least TRY not to make the parallels as blindingly fucking obvious as they are.
What on Earth are you and your contributor submitting this to?

"Come oooon" A marine with an ungroomed face and messy shirt groaned as he leaned over the railing of the ship he was stationed on, staring out at the seemingly endless empty sea around him "When are we going to get some action, I thought we'd be fighting pirates out here, but nooo there's nothing out here at all"

"Hey, just be glad we're not patrolling around Kano country" A worn down looking lass said, her eyes as watery as a dead man's open grave during a thunderstorm "I swear every time something happens in the new world, new pirates just crawl out of the woodworks, but kano country has to be the"

"Then why haven't we seen a single ship out here, yet alone a pirate ship" the man groans angrily, covering his head as he slumped over the railing like a tired old dog "At this point I'd like to be sent to grandline, even if it'd kill me"

"You're an idiot aren't you" the girl sighs, slapping the man on the back of the head "No one wants to go to grandline, at least no one sane"

"Yeah, well all this nothing is driving me insane!" the man shouted, clenching his hands on the ralling, pulling up splinters and paints as a large shadow fell over him

and the ship he was on, like some giant bird of prey. The man screamed and...
...
I groan, rubbing my eyes as I feel the ship slowly rock back and forth under me like a cradle under me. That was a weird nightmare, don't know why there was a giant pink and frilly bird in it, but it was out to get me, that's for sure at least. I flick and wiggle my fingers around, not sitting up, since Ajax has decided my stomach would make a wonderful bed, and I don't want to wake the lil guy up.

Besides, I think to myself as I scratch and rub the sleeping kitten behind the ears...I need some company. Ajax squirms around, purring and stretching before he settles back down.

I smile gently and slowly pull my hand away from him, so I don't wake him up. I just hope he doesn't get too big, cause that would make sleeping a little bit more troublesome.

Now as much as I want to lay around here forever, Captain would probably make me clean the side of the ship if he found me lazing around like a dog down here.

For who knows how long, you've been asleep until you heard that message. You open your eyes, and find yourself bound by the waist down to an iron table. The room is exceptionally dark, with only the light of a few blazing torches just in your peripheral vision.

Totemist Quest.jpg

You awaken with a start in choking darkness. Tangled blankets leap from your body as you vault upright. Your ritual knife gleams in a pale sliver of light, dancing motes of light spiraling across the sacred runes carved into its length. You suck in a deep breath, hold it, then exhale.

Slowly, your senses come back to you.

You remember the night before in pieces. The steamy baths and sweet nectar libations of the Mother's private spring are cloudy images before your mind's eye. The unfurling petals of the Grand Blossom above you—

You rake a hand through your hair, trying to steady yourself. The finer details of the night are shrouded behind the pounding headache that occupies your skull. You pull a leaf-cup of water thoughtfully provided from your nightstand, swallowing the contents in a few swift gulps. Orchid's hospitality, likely.

As your eyes adjust to the gloom, you find yourself in a guest bedroom within the blossom. The thin sliver of light shines 'round the edges of a curtain drawn across one of the filmy windows of the Blossom. Behind that curtain the first rays of dawn paint the landscape in flowery shades of vibrant pink and yellow.

You hadn't meant to spend the night.

You take a momentary inventory of yourself. Your bag is slung haphazardly over the arms of a nearby vanity. You appear unharmed and unmarked. Shirt, folded. It seems you slept in your trousers. You take a few minutes to wash your face in the basin and dress yourself before throwing back the curtain and allowing light to flood the room. Dozens of flowers lining the walls open their petals in response to the surge of sunlight.

At least you awoke early.

A knock on the door brings your drifting mind back to the here and now. Without awaiting response the wood creaks to one side, allowing a smiling Dryad to slip through the portal into your chambers. Long white petals

“Good morning Totemist,” she chirps. Her arms are laden with a bounty of succulent fruits. “Can I offer you a meal?” She squeezes her arms together, offering the cornucopia up toward you. The effect, you think, is somewhat exaggerated.

You are Osyki, journeyman Totemist and first line of defense for your village against the rabid Behemoths wandering the land. Your master, the previous Totemist, fell in a battle against a terrible Behemoth, leaving the duty of defending your settlement to you. After a hazy night at the Grand Blossom, you must return to preparations for the immediate future: A behemoth to be slain, a nation to befriend.

Does anyone on /tg/ have an interest in old/dead TCGs and games?
For some reason they've really become an obsession for me because the fact that they are usually decent games with unique twists that may have been the reason they failed.
Also I remember playing some as a kid.
Does anyone know any way to play old dead ones online or do I need to scour stores for shitty 50 cent starter packs?

I had some cards for the Digimon TCG when I was a kid, but never got to play due to not having any local scene.

Is that what usually kills these games? Nobody plays it, so nobody ever has an interest to play it, then it dies?
>>
>>46711425
Yeah, it is difficult to break into the market when MtG, Pokemon, and Yugioh are so well established.
LCGs and digital card games seem to be more successful ways to market new games now.

Has anyone played a setting in the deus ex universe, or one inspired by it?

Are there any good and simple systems for deus ex type play?

Tolkine was explicitly writing a mythological pastiche. GW and most fantasy writers of 70s-80s weren't.

You are a wealthy noble in Tamriel (you pick what race and land you hail from). Your daughter has come of age and it is time to arrange to have her married off. Whom do you pick to be her suitor and why?

A) A nord Jarl from Skyrim.
B) A high-ranking Imperial politician from Cyrodiil.
C) A wealthy Khajiit caravan owner from Elsweyr.
D) A mighty Redguard general from Hammerfell.
E) A powerful Breton archwizard from High Rock.
F) One of the strongest Orc warriors who is chief of his own village in High Rock.
G) A high-ranking Dominion Altmer (high elf) bureaucrat from the Summerset Isles.
H) A Bosmer (Wood Elf) ranger from Valenwood known to be among the best at his craft.
I) You allow your daughter to follow her heart and marry whomever she chooses. Which turns out to be a humble Argonian farmer from Black Marsh who owns one of the largest farms in that area.

1. How should I go about making complex underground hideouts and command centers for villains and foes without accidentally making them too powerful? (3-4 heroes at 240-270 points).
2. How much Resistant PD, ED, and Body should a top of the line safe have? One of the players was statting out his hero's house and was wondering how much a safe for valuables would cost. I told him to mark it down as 1 point extra cost and I'll stat it out later.

What is the appeal of traditional fantasy settings?
21 posts and 1 images submitted.

For me it's the fact that you can always have a proven framework to start from when you need something done quickly. Dwarves in a mine need help with orcs, elves are kind of dicks but grudgingly lend a hand, humans are in it for the money? There you have a seed for a quick session, no one's going to complain.
