Fuck it I'm lazy, copy pasting from yesterday's failed thread:
I have returned /tg/.
It's been quite some time since I last posted, but I believe these are all the archives from the last threads:

Basic premise for those unfamiliar: Centuries after humanity has perished from the world of Pokemon, select few species of Pokemon have become intelligent and have begun rebuilding civilization, building towns and villages, forging swords and armor. The game is currently set in the Kanto region, where most of civilization has modeled itself after Feudal Japan, roughly around the Sengoku period.
I'd mostly like to discuss fluff and world building. As well as plot hooks, character ideas, etc.
Additionally, if anyone would like to contribute art / images/ maps, etc. that would help illustrate the world that'd be great. In particular, I'd really like a Japanese brushwork / calligraphy looking map of Kanto, with little writing or something so I can add stuff to it.
For those who may remember previous discussions, I've since started the game, and we've just finished our second session.
I'll start things off with the PC characters I rolled up, as well as where the game has progressed to thus far.
Lastly, if any of my players happen to stumble upon this, I warn you now, look away. You know who you are. Spoiling any surprises will make things less fun, and meta-gaming will be severely punished.
I'll start things off with some of the sprites I edited for the PC tokens. We use MapTools, and taking inspiration from this Reddit post:
http://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/comments/1bm6co/i_love_using_roll20_for_gaming_but_i_horrendously/
I took some tilesets from the Pokemon games to make some maps, as well as the aforementioned sprites for the PCs.
That said, I introduce Tsukuda Kuro, the noble Pikachu Samurai, and leader of the party.
Next up, Mizushima Satoshi, scholar, biologist, healer, poisons expert. He joins the party on a quest for knowledge, and to gather and study poisonous Pokemon in the wild.
I couldn't find or think of any actual, historic Feudal Japanese analogue to this class of character. I imagine him kind of like a Maester in ASoIaF / GoT, except he actually adventures and shit. Maybe like a medicine man? I don't know, it doesn't bother me if this kind of person wasn't real in feudal Japan, but it'd be cool if there were people kind of like this in reality as it gives me more ideas to work with.

Oh man, I forgot that these are super small. Anyway I took a couple of them and blew them up for the character sheets, and put them on a quick background I whipped up.

You are Marie and Watt. Created by your father, The Inventor, in his lab, you were his greatest work. Automatons achieved sentience via the use of a magic based power source! Unfortunately someone was not to kin in his work and his lab was attacked. He would't tell you who the attackers were, and he told you to run. Run as far away as you can. You escaped with a number of worker drones, but soon after you left, the lab exploded. Your father was dead.
>Marie's Journal Entry 625491
We have been on the run for nearly 3 months now. Power is not a problem for me and Watt but our drones need to be charged by us, and that takes time. We need to settle down somewhere. I managed to find this large cave by the side of the mountain, and we are resting here now. By the looks of it this used to be a dragon's cave, tough its owner looks long dead. I proposed that we set up our home here, sense we can use the cave to carve out a tunnel system in the mountains. He agreed. On our way here we saw some dwarven settlements, which means they must have city near by. Maybe we should visit them? We don't have many materials left and we need to set up a defense at the cave's entrance. I hope this goes well...

My corruption of champions adventure,
Now I don't know if this counts as a traditional game but it's text-based so I'll believe in the heart of the cards.
>Be me, about 3 days ago, playing the newest patch because actually is pretty good game.
>Playing mage, making my way through the mountains wrekking everything.
>Find someone’s camp and decide to walk in, 8ft soraka-lookin’ motherfucker Izumi invites me in for a drink.
>Whatcouldgowrong.jpg, walk in and drink with her, first person to not try and wrek me, feelin’ pretty good.
>She says; “Now you have to pay me for my hospitality.” Fuck. “So are you going to surrender, or try and fight it?” Bitch thinks she’s hot shit.
>Not a pussy so I stay and fight, mfw level 20 and silences in the first turn. Picks me up by the neck and squeezes me, slams me down like mother fucking charles barkley on roids. Die instantly.
>The fuck is this, Dark Souls? My organs are crushed, my will destroyed and she leans down and says: “Wow, I thought humans were small but, this isn’t what I expected. I guess this will have to do.” Shows one finger and a thumb. This mother fucker.
>Come back later to assert my dominance as master kitsune mage, nine tails of naruto power flailing in perfect autism, I’m ready.
>Get Rekt.
>Laying again with spleen shattered, have option to flee because speed stat. Start to run away.
>She sits down and starts crying, saying it’s okay and to keep going because she knows she’s not attractive.
>Feel like a douchenazi, come back to console her and end up having sex.

Hey /tg/ I need some advice for an empire in a game I'm making. So far what I've got is that the setting is going to be something akin to the golden age of piracy with fantasy mixed in. The setting itself is going to be a large archipelago, so tons and tons of island, and the PC's are going to be a group of pirates going around doing pirate/PC things.
What I need help with is the empire that's going to be the dominant power in the area and one of the groups of enemies the PC's will encounter. I wanted to try something new so I decided to base most of the empires characteristics off ancient Greece. So polytheistic, philosophic, large artistic culture, and also triremes. The problem is I want to mix them with another ancient culture but I can't think of anything really interesting. My original idea was to go with a mix of part golden age Spain and part Spanish inquisition, but than my friend suggested that I give them some kind of advantage that makes them or their ships better than everyone else. He also suggested that this be shrouded in mysticism, and to maybe try a far east culture. I don't really know much about far east cultures except the generic weeabo stereotypes, so I was wondering if you guys could give me some help on fleshing this empire out.

So you want our advice on how to rip off Assassin's Creed IV?
Try FATE.

never played assassin's creed past the first and I'm not looking for a system. I'm looking for advice on world building or empire building, however you want to call it.

OK, tg, I need something judged.
Imagine the scenario: Adnd 2E, lvl 1.
The party leaves the rails and decides to go into the forest, that is beyond the realm of any lord, 1 day from a city. The forest is described as "full of mist, shadows of large animals", and "kids used to run dares to go in there". They suspect a hidden gnome village is in there and want to find it.
They consult their gods, and one of them grants them a vision of the party rogue slitting the players throat.
Halfway through the forest, now filled with thick mist and shadows moving around, they meet an elven bard, who claims he is coming from a long-abandoned elven city (abandoned 900 years ago) who insists they stay with him at his campfire. They remember the vision and decide to press on through the night.
During the evening, the party divides up so that the wizard and rogue (still lvl 1) sit all by themselves and wait while the fighter and cleric go off.
Here a doppleganger sees the two unarmored dudes, jumps out and kidnaps them (through rolls and nonlethal damage etc) to barter with the party.
One of the players is throwing a tantrum that he didn't feel like they were warned enough and that they felt safe "since it was probably gnomes and their illusions"
Is this shitty DM-ing? What else could I have done?
>>34796646
Short story, they accidentally come across the doppelganger (elven bard) who was haunting the gnomes and the whole reason why they were hiding to begin with.
>>34796646
Well, I can tell you that if I were a player, I wouldn't be having fun if the first thing that happens to me is I get fucked over to that degree on the first session. Yeah, 1st level characters, I know, but I never said 2e was my favorite edition either.
>>34796719
yeah but what was I supposed to do?
They wanted to find a thing that I didn't plan for their adventure. I thought I warned them enough, and if they had been smart enough to not leave the wizard and rogue all alone in a forest, it would never have risked attacking.
Its the same thinking as "I went to *dangerousplace*, sat by myself as the most fragile class in the game, and was kidnapped by *dangerousthing*. Why didn't the DM turn everything I walk by into low level stuff?

You can talk with anyone in your own vicinity. When you want to speak with a NPC directly, link to the post where OP Roleplayed as the NPC you are talking with. To talk with players that are not close to you, a trained Raven is required.
When you are doing an action follow this:
>OP tells you in his update that you are under attack by a bear that came rushing out the forest at you.
You post some light RP to explain your characters line of thoughts/reasons why you are doing what you are about to do and/or quick preparation before you post your action in this format separately from the RP:
[Players Name] > Evade
Based on how high or low the number you got in your post number, you either successfully evaded the bears charge or you got tumbled by the bear. Things like being less equipped or having armor equipped at the time will either increase or decrease the chance of evading. It is up to OP to inform players AFTER they have rolled for an action if their chances were increased or decreased based on their skills or equipments, as to not give the players a choice and to explain why they failed/succeeded. Anything is possible as long as your character can do it.

Description of the Game:
Four to Six players claim a spot in the game.
>Now you can either:
>Option A: Roll for skillpoints, with 25 being the highest. You have to clearly tell OP that you are rolling for Skillpoints. To avoid rolling forever, it will work like this; Roll a 2 or a 3 and you get Five Skill Points, 4 to 5 is Ten skill points, 6 to 7 is Fifteen skill points, 8 to 9 is Twenty Skill points, and 0 being 25. If you get a 1, you can roll again.
>You then create a character based around what stats you have filled in with your skillpoints.
Put a lot of skill points into Strength and Endurance? Make a Hedge knight, a Masteratarms, or maybe a Sellsword for some examples. Not a requirement of course.
>Option B: You make a character beforehand and then pray to the roll gods you get enough skillpoints to make your character like you initially envisioned him/her or accept 10 Skillpoints that cannot be increased or decreased.
>When you make a character include the following:
-Name
-Age
-Birthplace/Hometown
-Job/Position
-Weapons and equipments (Holds no significance as of yet, Valyrian Steel cannot be a starting item, adds +1 to appropriate skill)
-House/Faction (You can belong to any house, but if you belong to a major noble house you will have -to be either a bastard or just be working for that house as whatever it is you are. No story specific characters; ie. Lords, kings, or any factions OP denies for story purposes from the start)
-Goal/Quest (Leave it blank and I will assume the character is free to do just about anything that is still relevant to the character.)
-Prefered Starting location (This is entirely up to where OP places you to give you a chance to team up with other characters, but if you are more of a loner character, he will have a better idea where to place you if you have a prefered location.)
-Short Description of the characters looks
