The continuing adventures of an anon and his Christmas flashback.

Just a warning: I'm probably going to be slow updating today. New Years and all that. My sister is hellbent on having me get my hair cut before 2016.
Also, comcast is being a real bitch.
The remains of the Robinson Film Center smolder. The electricity was blasted into oblivion by Barbara in addition to...just about everything else. The blackness of Christmas Eve night creeps in, bringing puffs of wind from the outside filled with snow flakes.
Barbara's ectoplasma illuminates a busted floor and scraps of retro movie posters twitching in the breeze as if in shock.
You think that might have been a Rio Bravo poster...a shame, that was a great movie.
Good think you have Barbara with you. Her psychic connection with you makes you feel...rather okay with all this.
A little ways from you Winnie hunches over feeling very not okay with all this. Her wolf eyes glow golden in the darkness. She would look rather predatory if it wasn't for her body language.
"Damn it..." She says holding her head. "He controlled me. Like a big, stupid animal."
Her paw squeezes a fistful of hair on her forehead and shuts her eyes. "I don't deserve to be Alpha..." She whispers to herself. But you can hear her. Her voice echos. Everything echos.
Outside the wind howls as the snowfall picks up. Inside it whispers as snow collects on blasted, scorched carpet.
...And somewhere there's an ancient vampire from the Renaissance that you stabbed, crushed, but didn't finish...
WHAT DO WE SAY TO HER?
DO WE OFFER TO GIVE HER BARBARA, HOPING THE PSYCHIC LINK WILL HELP HER FEEL CALM?
So I saw that we got some drawbacks last thread...
I hope that Willie will go to bat for us in convincing Sibella to go with anon, because we've gone above and beyond in not doing anything against her here, after she attacked.
Give her Barbara
Tell her that things will be OK. Tell her that this is the most humiliating defeat that could ever happen to her, and that this is her lowest point, meaning that it's all smooth sailing from here as far as her pride in battle goes.

Can our saint even do anything to help willie.
Hey guys sorry for starting late, had a fire and had to deal with it before being able to sit at the computer, of course. Someone threw a cigarrette butt into a paper bin... it was so cliché that you'd think anyone would know it was a bad idea.
>>44485412
Here
>>44485412
Miellewds-guy here.
Don't worry about it, taking care of an actual fire takes precedence.
>>44485521
I dont get it. When I got here, I noticed some marks of fire on the kitchen and they commented to me laughing that it had caught fire 3 times in the past.
In the time i was living here, this is the 2nd fire. The first was due to a gas leak despite me telling the owners that i could smell gas every night, but, at the risk of sounding sexist, the ladies didnt care until it literally blew up on their faces, because, im a guy, so what do I know?
And now... cigarrette butt into a paper bin... WHY!? isnt that clichéd enough that it shouldnt happen anymore?
Anyway, I got quite understandably sidetracked, where were we?
What Rules do you lay out to your party before you start playing? Here's what I presented to my players when I started our latest campaign.
>We are using 5e
>Once a character dies it is dead. There is no coming back from the dead.
>We are using point buy from the PHB.
>We’re here to have fun, if a disagreement interferes with that you may be asked to leave
>On that note I typically don’t allow PvP and never do if people can’t handle it.
>Clean language is preferred, cursing gives a -1 to your next attack roll. Cursing multiple times adds to the cumulative negative to your next roll. These can be negated with 10 pushups or 10 situps per -1.
>If you make a paladin and break your code in a meaningful way you will fall. Like killing unarmed orphan angels or something. That said I DO NOT look for ways to make your paladin fall. Unless you ask me to.
>If you write in or take a background perk that gives you servants or contacts I do not typically kill them off unless you ask me to. If one dies you get the chance to get another one.
>I don’t emphasize alignment but I dont run evil campaigns.
>If you are in high school I will clear you playing with us with your parents and if you have failing grades I may ask you to leave. Grades are a priority.
For context we are all in our twenties and a few of us are trying to work on our language, hence the swearing rule. Sometimes a high schooler has played been in groups I've run and it was cool. Other times it sucked. I'm not being responsible for some kid's lack of control.
>>44482959
If you don't find the head of the Cult fast enough, the planet dies. No ifs, ands, or buts about it, because the Cult won't be the one killing the planet.
Just remember, these sorts of threads are better when they're interactive. Don't just give the rules at your table, critique others' rules as well. Also, present problems and ask for suggestions. That way we can have a lively discussion.
>>44483015
Fuck that noise. Post more four arm people.
If a Space Marine found a small, defenseless Eldar child, is there any kind of remote chance that said child isn't receiving the Emperor's fury directly in the face?
>>44475946
It would be very minute but it would depend on the writer and what chapter the marine was from.
>>44475946
This is gonna turn into a lolicon thread, isn't it?
>>44476002
Well I hope not. I'm genuinely intrigued.

So, /5eg/, why aren't you running an Eberron game in 5e already?
>>44466599
Because I'm using GURPS instead?
I'm not optimistic about 5E Eberron.
I never checked out 4E Eberron, but 3.5 Eberron felt built around 3.5. e.g. racial feats were a good thing for the Warforged. I don't want it to now be: "You can add your proficiency bonus to armor class while unarmored" or something like that.
>>44466599
Because Warforged are woefully undertuned.
So 2016 is almost here, and it's time to look back at the year that was and to look forward to what's ahead.
>What was your 'Game of the Year'?
>What was your favorite gaming memory of 2015?
>What's on your radar for 2016?
>Did you attend any Cons this year? Planning to attend any in 2016?
>Game of the Year?
I really liked Champions of Midgard, but the game I had the most fun with was Codenames.
>2015 Gaming memory?
Had a marathon session with friends back in March. Played a ton of games. It was just great to reconnect with some people I hadn't seen in awhile and sling dice.
>2016?
Psyched for Scythe and Gloomhaven. I backed Secret Hitler on KS and I'm intrigued by the videos I've seen.
>Cons?
Never been to a con. Gonna try to hit BGG con in 2016.
>>44461695
>What was your 'Game of the Year'?
I haven't played that many 2015 games, the only ones I can think of are XCOM, Churchill, and Triumph&Tragedy. Of those three, T&T is my current favourite by a fair amount.
>What was your favorite gaming memory of 2015?
Playing the Starcraft boardgame, third phase. I need to get to one more planet and build a base there and I'll win, but I'm getting threatened at my other planets as well. Shore up some defenses, throw enough zerglings at a third planet to clear one of the areas to build a base.... and end up not having enough resources. Laughs and facepalms were had all around.
>What's on your radar for 2016?
Mare Nostrum: Empires, Scythe (not backed nor hyped, but I mean I gotta try it right?), Hands in the Sea, some GMT reprints and new games, and last but not least more wargames in general. Maybe the 3rd edition of High Frontier. I don't follow boardgaming news/releases to know of much else of interest.
>Did you attend any Cons this year? Planning to attend any in 2016?
Yeah, went and poked around a bit at Gothcon. Lots of game stores set up and plenty of people more than willing to sit down and explain and/or play games. Will most probably take a look around at 2016's Gothcon as well.
>>44461695
>What was your 'Game of the Year'?
Probably Chaosmos, though I've gotten more mileage out of Two Rooms and a Boom.
>What was your favorite gaming memory of 2015?
>picking one
Various incredible clutch plays in 2R&1B at LAN parties, often tied to wheeling & dealing information as the MI6.
A friend pulling off a surprise win in Chaosmos off of a huge gamble, ending the game with one of the two mcguffins in hand without knowing which one was real based on anything but a couple subtle hints in my behaviour.
The entirety of our last TI3 game, just ridiculously tight.
>What's on your radar for 2016?
Mare Nostrum: Empires, for sure.
Might pick up a copy of Scythe when it releases.
It's even possible the next netrunner cycle will release before we all die of old age.
>Did you attend any Cons this year? Planning to attend any in 2016?
Nope, but I'm going to try and make it to a couple of the ones in SLC.
Warhammer 40k's lore and universe is up for retcon/revision/reboot and you've been put in charge. You can do anything from total overhaul of the entire setting, to only minor tweaks/retcons of the existing canon.
What do you do, /tg/?
Advance plot
>>44446877
In what ways, anon?
Dorn becomes so asshurt over the fall of the Emperor and the breaking of the Legions into chapters that he reunites his chapter in secret, Sells himself to Chaos to destroy the Iron Warriors and does battle with Girlyman.
>How big is Commorragh?
>How many eldar live there?
>What would it take to destroy it?
>>44485532
Big enough to require several stars to power it, and it takes up a considerable portion of the webway, a galaxy spanning system.
All the Dark Eldar, and some xeno races.
Destroy it? Something that could eliminate an entire solar system wholesale.
It is the biggest ecumenopolis shown in 40k, bigger even than Terra itself.
Imagine a place whose length spans several planets all lined up and in where buildings can exists in any direction and dimension.
There are probably billions of Dark Eldar inside and probably even more slaves. The only thing that could bring that down would be several simultaneous Exterminatus and I like to think that such destruction would be enough to rip the thin fabric that separates the webway with the Warp and flood it all with Daemons.
>>44485532
spread out over a chunk of the web way with separate bases port cities and outposts that aren't directly connected
id imagine a few billion as a guesstimate
not worth it their just as likely to destroy themselves

I suggest you all do the same. Fire safety is no joke.
I have one under the sink in the kitchen, directly across from the stove. Never had to use it though.
>>44483521
This is probably a meme but I actually did the same OP. Also reported them to the PPL for playing the radio in their workplace without a license.
Total fine was somewhere in the region of 5K. Guy had to shut his shop and go work in a supermarket for a few months before Christmas because of it.
>>44483521
Also, be sure to only buy your minis from either an official GW store, or online at the Games Workshop website.
Fire safety is a very serious issue. Make sure this holiday season that your kids enjoy the Games Workshop hobby in safety!

I got two feats to spend and I need some advice
Also, is it worth putting a level into Barbarian (for the rage) when I hit level 7?
>tfw 69hp
>tfw 31ac in combat w/o magic
Anyways, share some DnD stories and help my character out
>>44480029
Lion Totem Barbarian alwas have and always eill be worth for melees in 3.5 because of pounce.
That said you should look into some Prestige Class to get something apart from feats. But to me plain Fighter up till the end always seemed fine.
To sim up, go for whatever you feel will be the funniest instead of the most powerful shit you can string together.
>>44480188
unfortunately core doesn't allow for such things, although I think there is still Lion Totem but without pounce.
It actually looks really cool and I'm gonna go check and see if barbarian variants are allowed, really digging the bear totem
Just stick to fighter OP.
Learn those defensive withdrawals.
Also sundering and called shots are a fighters bread and butter.
Shield bash and disarm rock as well.
Barbarians are great out of the gate. But a well planned and thought out fighter has dozens of tricks up his/her sleeve. More than just going into a tard rage for a few rounds and having some added movement speed.

Making a noblebright fantasy post-apocalyptic setting.
How do I represent the fall of society, when the society that ended was either pre- or low-industry? Complicating things are that magic and the power of gods were both dead in the fallen society, but are now returning after its fall.
I had thoughts to represent the fallen society as having a sort of dungeon/steampunk technological level, perhaps explained by a mastery of "alchemy." But, again, I'd like to avoid it being seen as just magic by another name, as the return of magic to the world is supposed to be a big deal.
Thoughts on this?
>>44464558
You want a noblebright setting that goes to shit? Or do you mean it's already gone to shit, but is still noblebright?
I guess you'd have to say that all of tech was based on divine powers, but when the gods went away there was some sort of dark age.
>>44464801
Not necessarily. If he wants a noblebright post-apoc, then maybe the old order that collapsed was just plain evil, and everyone just said "enough." Now the world is disordered and chaotic, and there are problems that come about because of it, but at the end of the day, everyone's better off with the Bastard Kings gone, and there's a bright future ahead! Come on, chums, let's build a better world!
Nothing says "fallen civilization" like old roads.
I got to thinking about rewards besides gold (or titles, or magical artifacts...) to the truly strange and unique sort of rewards players can ask for or DMs can offer.
Tell me some of your weirdest rewards, /tg/!

Having his soul eaten.

He got a rubber duckie from beyond space and time.
It spoke French, which my character could not, especially being that the French language did not exist in setting.
He rode it into battle, once, as well, despite the duckie being entirely mundane save being able to speak, and being from -somewhere- else.
Land. Always ask for land.
