I made a wasteland faction generator table thing.
http://pastebin.com/rWD3HkhG
Here's the pastebin, It needs 13-14 d100s.
Feel free to roll on it and give critiques. What should be added? Would some things work better than what's already in it? I kinda threw it together after a long shower thinking about it then about forty five minutes of typing so it's pretty fucking far from perfect or even good. I just really like these table things.
Maybe we can make a setting out of the factions that are rolled up.
I wrote up a band of 20 wasteland raiders yesterday, giving them all detailed appearances and an outline for their personalities.
My players will probably just blow them to bits but hey, it was fun.

That'll happen, but half the fun of being a DM is designing encounters for your players.
I wouldn't take it that far, but I would say the fun is being creative in designing challenges and situations to put players in. It requires a lot more creativity than actually playing, at least in my opinion. At the same time though, I find it's a lot more fun to be a player.

I'll be sorting out a couple of things this week, most pressingly the Playoffs. Until further instruction, can nobody use their current team please, of course except for the couple of round 6 games left.
In this thread, we talk about factions that are over wanked.
For example: Tyranids
>Muh 12 galaxies
>Super BBEG, worse than chaos
>Pfft, nothin personal biomass
>muh hyper adaptability
>constant disregard for things like the conservation of mass
>We use the warp but dont lol.
Literally worse the the Ultrasmurfs and Chaos gods combined. Even the Ctan in their "just as planned" height weren't as retarded as the Tyranids.
I'm pretty sure Tau is the most wanked faction, followed by Space Marines then Imperium and Chaos.
Tyranids are underwanked if anything.
>>44480206
Slurried biomass detected
Tau
They are the worst form of wankery.
>be shit little species
>constant retcons that completely change them and their history
>biggest plot armor in 40k
>almost every Tau triumph is either unexplained muh superior tactics or their opponents writen as complete retards
Not to mention their cancerous fans circlejerking over their weeb power fantasy.
And the funniest part is, they don't have a victory condition so all this wank is just to sell models to the faggots, nothing more.

>Last time, on Digimang Quest.
Our hero and friends journeyed into the Web Forest, and after a fierce battle and getting knocked around more than once, managed to overcome the horde of monkeys that had taken over, with quick thinking, quicker reflexes, and a new digivolution.
After getting rewarded for their help, Dash tried to a spider, got rebuffed, and sent on his way to find more humans, heading to the coast for a trip to the Batch Isles.
Having secured a free ride in return for some help, Dash’s boat has been waylaid, by a giant squid demon, in the middle of nowhere.
Now, on with the adventure!
The back end of the ship lifts upwards, lurching you and Leomon around, as enormous squid-like tentacles wrap around the back end of the boat, tugging it downwards into the ocean, while a three eyed demonic face looms behind the boat, raking enormous, clawed hands down the length of the cruiser.
Another jostling of the boat shakes you out of the pool, as it get’s angled higher out of the water, now nearly fifty degrees from horizontal and being shaken about roughly.
Numemon are trying to cling on for dear life, hurrying inside, or grabbing onto railings, as the squid demon’s claws bust out the windows.
Leomon grabs you, curling you close to his body in one arm as he slips down the deck, digging his claws into the wood to act as brakes, before landing on top of the steering room, or rather, landing on the side of the steering room, as you now stand on top of the outwards wall and peering in at the Numemon staff through the forwards facing window below you.
“What the heck does he even waaaaant?” The Numemon captain blubbers, clutching onto his Napoleon hat as he gets flung around the room, bouncing off walls, the steering wheel and other Numemon.
>Gotta get inside, Casey’s near the back end of the ship.
>Leomon, reckon you can get rid of this guy?
>Let’s try and talk things out with him, demon’s can be reasonable. Right?
>Write in

>>44471066
The simple answer is to steal their children and indoctrinate them into being shock troopers. Those that don't take can be fed to the Emperor.
They can at least get to building one Empire.
Is it bad that I'm regularly daydreaming of being an eldar outcast, formerly on the path of the healer and artisan, setting out full of youthful naïvety and belief in the goodness of all creatures, meetingand falling in love withan imperial guardsman, watching him from afar, protecting him from dangers until finallywe meet and engage in forbidden lovewhereupon he is found out and summarily executed for heresy I and tearfully become more and more jaded and cynical with the world, ending up in the typical eldar disdain as I return, broken to the craftworld?

I'm considering the possibility of using d6 dice pools rather than the d20 roll-under since i'm using a stats-heavy system anyways, is there anything i should take in account when designing dice pools, like limits or how often hits and misses go?
Only dice pool games i've played have been shadowrun and vampire and i can't remember shit about vampire
I will dump my homebrew and make you a deal, /hbg/: give me some feedback, and you can email your PDF to [email protected] and you WILL get some good feedback, I promise. Though it might take a little while.
i have made a 2d6 roll under system that is similar to GURPS. I am curious how much shit it is. I am guessing a lot.
I made it because 2d6 roll-under was faster to roll than 2d6+adds and allowed me to do stat + skill more easily.
I want to implement a Toughness / Wounds system like that in Savage Worlds, or in the d6 system such as MiniSix. Dunno quite how to do that. Would it be weird seeing as the system is roll-low but damage would be roll-high? I guess it would be either way.
My problems with what I've made so far:
> you have to do some formula to derive base melee damage from Strength
> opposed rolls suck in roll under systems
> dodge against ranged attacks is annoying
>>44359892
I'll dump my previous homebrew for comparison. It's main flaws were lack of stats (Strength as a skill felt weird for various reasons) as well as just a general emptiness to the character / creature stats.
For example a character was basically:
Novice Legolas
Skills: Shooting 3, Awareness 1
Traits: Elf
There was no way to represent a clumsy zombie or weak kobold. I wanted stats ranging 1 to 3 but the choice was either all-physical stats, or having mental stats that were basically useless. Or having Intelligence as a stat, but getting rid of character points and having separate pools of points.
SO I ASK:
/hbg/, do you like character points ("you get 100 character points to build your character"), or do you like separate point allocation systems ("you get 4 points for attributes, 5 points for skills, etc").
Also, for an autofire system, would you prefer multiple rolls at a penalty, or a small bonus to hit, and extra hits depending on margin of success? What if it was a 2d6 system? 1d10 system? Rolling 2d6 over and over and adding a bunch of modifiers feels slow. Yet autofire as a bonus to hit feels unrealistic and makes "spraying and praying" the best option with an automatic weapon most times. When in reality it isn't.
The autofire mechanic is important because it has a lot of bearing on whether I use a single die or multi-die system. Because 3d6+adds is fine if there aren't a lot of attacks floating around. But if you are making many attacks, you don't want to spend hours adding 3d6 + a bonus + penalties + any other modifiers. That was part of what I loved about Savage Worlds: you just read your result right off the dice. Then they added a ton of modifiers and kinda screwed that up.
Shall we roll a SM chapter up together, Anons?

Could a Deist Christian setting work?
>All demons are fallen angels
>Darkness and Evil has made monsters unintended by God
>Pagan Gods are just angels gone rogue
>Hell is very well established to exist, but no one comes back from Heaven to confirm
>Angels keep falling as their reasos for existing cease mattering
(ie harvest angels are obsolete due to irrigation and crop rotation becoming wide spread)
>God hasn't enacted his will since the dawn of time but angels insist he's still around
>Everyone is in a constant search for the second coming of God as a mortal man
And of course, the angels are all custom built eldritch horrors. I'm talking, body of fire, seven wolves for limbs with wings of black spears, it can sink into the ground and be indistinguishable from a shadow until it consumes the monsters it hunts, using their bodies to regenerate itself endlessly.
Sure, if you run it well. Same goes for almost anything.
What do your players do in this world?
>>44458846
Search for God of course.
Cut down all the demons that thought to usurp his throne.
Discover hidden hamlets of strange folk, people half a man tall and stout of build who say they have lived for five hundred winters or more. Heresy for sure, but their weaponcrafts are beyond anything else.
Cut down subaquatic giants with blades made of blood that dissolve in sunlight, but their gold is as good as any's.
Sell your bodys to seductresses in dark caves in exchange for forbidden knowledge on how to save your people.
>>44458922
Sounds like it'd be a neat setting

Immediately after Ivan’s dismissal, Blissless leaves the training building without a single word. He watches her leave with disappointment faintly peeking through his confident façade.
He lightly scratches his chin. “I forgot to ask her to give you a tour, Oren.”
What a fucking horrible idea.
Ivan picks up on your cynicism. “It would be a team-building exercise.” He happily explains with arms outstretched. “She doesn’t dislike as much as you think, Oren.”
You wouldn’t bet on it.
You tuck your hands into your pockets, and shrug. “Sure thing, Captain.”
While you take one last look around the training building, observing again the layout and details, you think about what to do next.
“Alright.” Ivan suddenly announces with great volume. “Show him around the academy some more and then show him to the dorms, Wraith.”
Luca, who’s still lingering around, gives an enthusiastic thumbs-up and saunters over to you.
Ivan flips through his Assistant. “I have to meet with the other Squad Leaders, so gentlemen…” He salutes the two of you before finally leaving.
Luca looks up at you with an expectant expression. “You hungry?”
As you were initially coming off stasis, the thought of eating didn’t actually occur to you, but now your stomach is painfully making its needs clear.
“Yeah.” You reply honestly. “I can eat.”
~
[1/2]
>>44470406
The food court that Luca has led you in is still slightly active, even this late in the afternoon. He patiently shows you how to order your own food and where to pick it up. After you get over your extreme bewilderment of the free of charge system, the two of you find seats to enjoy your meal.
“Non-human anatomy and physiology?!” You repeat his words after barely swallowing a large mouthful of food.
“That’s my focus.” He answers, eating much more politely than you are.
What the hell is he doing on the squad?
“You wondering why I was chosen to be on the squad, right?” He smiles deviously.
Crap. You nod slightly, pretending to be busy chewing.
Luca stares off to the side. “I wonder that myself…” He waves to a small group of people passing by, who seem to be interested in who you are. Luca seems to waiting until they are out of earshot.
You ignore the stares and stop eating for a moment. “You mean, they haven’t explained it to you yet?”
He slowly shakes his head. “I arrived here with a note to meet the Vice Admiral. I went to his office and was told that I was being placed on one of his squads because of exam results.”
…
[2/3]
>>44470453
He sighs and continues. “He went on to say that everything I needed would be provided for me free of charge.” He pokes at his food, absentmindedly. “I didn’t question it at the time, and a few days later, happily began going on missions. All of them were scouting remote locations: high cliffs, deep caves, and underwater.” He pauses for a moment. “You think they would’ve scouted the whole planet by now, or if not, why train someone like me to do so?”
By now you’ve almost entirely forgotten about your food.
“Sounds familiar?” He asks, reading your expression.
“Yeah…” You lean back in your seat.
“After wondering, 'Why me?' for a while, I tried several times to ask what the purpose is, but I was always ignored.” He pauses. “This most recent time…I was told not to bring it up anymore, especially in front of you.”
What in the hell…
He hastily waves, apologetically.“I’m really sorry if I’m dumping a lot on you.” He leans forward. “But I wanted to know what you thought.”
You rub the back of your head. Isn’t that kind of a standard thing, to not let the lower guys in on all the details? It all sounds strange like this, but there must be an explanation for why they need non-soldiers in the squad, right?
>"I don't think we should worry about things like that. We're just students."
