Trump is upset about this ominous event, he knows this is a battle that will be fought through will. Holding another rally, he brings one of the husks to the stage. Trump grants the husk a soul and the husk becomes a normal man. However, this man will follow Trump's every word as his soul still belongs to Trump. It seems Trump can now enforce souls on those lacking a soul. The people witness the entire miracle and begin to see Trump as a giver of life.

> be running a Savage Worlds campaign
> weird apocalypse like that of Apocalypse World but Apocalypse World sucks
> characters fight group of bandits living in an abandoned hospital
> medicine they need is inside
> "bandits" is perhaps a misnomer, really just a surviving group at war with several other groups in the city
> group is led by ~20 year old woman
> PCs eventually capture her
> PC knocks her unconscious and proceeds to sever her spine
> "roll for healing"
> gets like 3 raises

They have since left the hospital in a truck, she is still with them, tied up and unconscious. Next session she is probably going to wake up. With her spine severed just above the pelvis so she cannot walk or go to the bathroom or anything.

Also from the research I've done she's likely to die a horribly painful death in the next week or so.

What do?

Just remind players that 'oh so edgy' works both ways and make it happen. It's not like word's not going to get around somehow. They'll be like 'WTF DM' the first time one of them gets captured and taken apart and turned into human wreckage. Just remind them that hey, this is how they wanted to play the game.
>>
>>44698645

It was intentional. The guy plans to give this woman a "new life" in the village they are from.

He is not understanding that people barely survive as it is, no one is going to want to care for this bandit girl and she is going to be nothing but a burden even if she does survive.

Nobody wants to clean up after her or push her around in a wheelchair and she cannot farm or do labor so she'll basically be a burden that will be left to die at the earliest opportunity.

>>44698784

I am thinking this will happen, if the PCs are captured by the mega-badasses they are currently fighting (enemies from the edgelord player's backstory). If said badasses capture the party they might execute her first, a la Negan executing Glenn in the the Walking Dead comics.

The edgelord player is actually a pretty cool guy, he just does weird stuff sometimes.

You write to Yulea before your group heads out to the Outrealm Gate, admittedly avoiding mention of Ansi for security reasons. You've never HEARD of Neir snooping into the correspondence that travels between its borders, at least not as policy, but considering the intrigue-laden circumstances, it does you well to be careful.

You also send warning that your enemies are now using redundant layers of mind control, so if they have any magic users, make certain they know to look extra thoroughly on incapacitated foes.

Irene suggests you start using Eyven as a messenger, reasoning he might actually help beyond base-sitting as long as his brother is tied up in all of this nonsense. She finds him and turns out correct, though he does jokingly gripe about what a great burden all of this is.

Yulea, receiving your message, grimaces. Ansi was their only magic-user besides Yancy, and she never learned a thing beyond staves... Still, she's thankful for this information, and relays as such through the lazy noble, before going on to discuss these things with Leigh and Princess Shea and the rest.

It's around then where she realizes she'd neglected to mention she'd been corresponding with you ever since the split, which causes a bit of a ruckus with the more genuine defectors...

>B. Be somebody in Leigh's group

"So, eh, yeah, then Welles and Lady Yvette calmed your buddies down," Eyven explains in a tired manner, still grinning nonchalantly. "And the stuff about Calof and the cat led Shea to bring 'em straight to the Ulir archipelago."

"You'd think they'd go to Tarvos Valley, since it's... Right there."

"Not much of a tactician these days, so, eh, I can't tell you much about her logic. Besides, all this traveling's really tiring me out."

He walks out of your sight, then reemerges from another pathway seconds later, unfolding a reclining chair and taking a sip of something outside in the shade.

>A. Talk to someone before leaving (specify)
>B. Skip to departure
>C. Give Eyven another message (write-in)
>D. Write-in action
>E. On second thought, be someone in Leigh's group, en route to Ulir

Hey guys. About 4 years ago I started the evolution game. It was really fun and I'm sure at some point you have seen a variation of it.

Now, for nostalgic reasons, I want another game. The rules are crazy simple:

1) Take pic related and edit it slightly
2) save as .png
3) post it
4) Edit other people's evolution as well.
5) The ride never ends

Since it is such a small and simple creature, I have enlarged it to make it more visible in the thumbnail.

Have you ever had a campaign that was specifically designed around killing off player characters? Not 'death is possible', 'one of you WILL die, no ifs about it'? How did it go? How many characters did you toss into the meatgrinder?

Is this just something that's a little too meanspirited for TTRPGs, or something that has potential?
26 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>44697453
Yeah, nah. I guess if you build a campaign around dying heroically and everyone builds vikings that can work. But if you just want to score a TPK? Run Tomb of Horrors as a one-shot. Tell your players to make new characters for it, and to not get too attached. You'll get it out of your system.

If you really wanted to build a campaign around this idea, what I'd suggest is putting together some sort of reincarnation mechanic where you get points towards permanent bonuses for dying in a hardcore enough way.

Example: Oh, you died to buy Beowulf enough time to unbend his sword against that dragon? That's some hero shit right there! Here, have enough points for...I dunno, a legacy weapon that follows you through lives. Or a +2 to a stat. Oh, you got swept overboard before you could even reach Paris to sack it? Unheroic death. You get fuck-all bonuses for ongoing lives.
>>
>>44697453
I think that may be the entire point of character creation and family trees in the Pendragon system.

You will spend about an 1-3 hours rolling up past histories and checking what comes of them for chargen. You also can die pretty damn easily and encourages you to die every so often to build more glory.
>>
>>44697453

Don't. Player death should come at their own hands due to a bad role or player mistake.

If you kill your players just to be a dick then you're not gonna have any long

You shoulder the rifle for one last shot. Hopefully the ninja will get sloppy. Lucky for you, he does. Following the arc onto which he launched you, the ninja comes running up the building. At that moment, you bring the scope up, let your brain merge the illuminated and magnified image with its unmagnified counterpart, and pull the trigger. It breaks cleanly and rockets back into your abused shoulder. But the effects on the other end are most extreme. The round take the ninja in the shoulder, ripping through the flak vest. The man twists about, spun by and the impact, and falls. Good enough for you.

Very slowly, you manage to climb down from the building and limp outside the grounds of the town. You sit down cross legged on the ground, nursing the extreme pain in your chest. Thankfully, your spine was okay. If not, you would not have been able to get to where you are now. The question now is getting back home, to your mom and pop. The cash will have been delivered to an account which is not linked to either your person.

The question now, as you hide out in a small shelter you made in the woods, is how to get back home. There was no pickup method arranged; breaking the ninja monopoly on assassination can land you in deep shit. The calling card of the family business, started by your great grandfather, is that the client does not directly meet with the sniper. A request is made, parties come to an agreement, and someone is shot sometime later. The client then reads about the hit the paper, and sends to rest of the cash to a third party who delivers it to the family.

Introduction

In the World of Darkness, everyone's struggle is personal. So every player character here gets plenty of one-on-one Storyteller attention. However, the personal nature of one's struggle does not mean that they are alone. Sometimes they meet others who are on their own path, and when they do, it's always interesting.

Description

The stories one would read in most of the New World of Darkness books are not about an entire party (as represented by Coterie, Pack, Cabal, etc), but an individual's trials, tribuulations, and struggles. It is about them, not the group they are in. To this end, everyone in this group is a player character *and* a Storyteller. Someone STs their player character(s) and vice versa.

We might have many characters and each of us is on our own path with our own interests, we share the same universe, and we're bound to happen upon each other just as we do in real life. Joe and Jane might have an interest in the same obscure medical records that are rumored to be stored in this old warehouse. They might have different reasons for wanting them, but they both do. And so, they happen upon each other in their quest.

Do they fight over the documents or cooperate? It's up to them, and a third ST will have to be present for it. In either case, though, they will have their cooperation or competition, and they will both -- hopefully anyway -- keep going from where they left off. Maybe they'll meet again, but maybe they won't. Who knows.

This is why you should join: to help determine that.

===================================================
Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What kind of character submissions are you accepting?
A: We will run any kind of character you can get an ST for, except fan splats.

Q: Who is STing, and what will they ST?
A: Currently, there are two STs. What's available is Vampire, Mage, Werewolf, Promethean, and Changeling. Anything else is up for grabs if you compel one of us.

Q: How do you determine the stories that get incorporated into the Crossroads metaplot?
A: If the current controller of the group (myself, for now) finds them appropriate for the setting. Admittedly, this is a completely subjective call, so the main rule is: make your story and your characters compelling.

Q: Will you accept V20 or other oWoD characters?
A: No.

Q: Where is this located? Which city, specifically?
A: Wherever you want your character to be. There is no single location this takes place in. This enables you to have a character that's on-the-go, as some people have already made.

Q: Then how will these characters ever meet?
A: Good faith metagaming. If you want your character to meet someone else's character, they can go to the other one's city. People move. People travel. It wouldn't be called Crossroads if you didn't wander, meet, and keep going anyway, would it?

Thing is, the player was lying. Minotaurs don't have any special maze sense. No edition of D&D gives them such an ability. That was the whole point of the original story of the labyrinth, that the Minotaur couldn't find its way out.

Opinions on this plot general outline:

>World has relatively low planar contact, what there is proves extremely dangerous and intermittent
>The world is slowly dying for various reasons
>PCs participate in the political machinations surrounding a parliament trying to decide on a plan to survive the end of the world
>Progressive faction keeps pushing for more extreme measures
>Measures include citizens being sent to work camps and shit
>Reveal is that they are trying to get off plane and the only place they think they can get to is the abyss
>Working with a third party gifted wizard who thinks he can manage the planar travel
>Leader believes this is the best chance they have, as life in the abyss is preferable to complete annihilation
>The work camps were for sacrifices/experiments
>Their leader is a demoniac
>Second reveal is that the third party is actually a demon who was stuck on the prime when the plane got cut off
>The experiments are producing actual demons, corrupting mortal souls into terrible creatures
>Final reveal is the demon is using sacrifices to try and send only himself back, he is using the sacrifices to empower himself to rip a hole back
>Doesn't work, he really is stuck on the prime

So, thoughts on this? How would you feel as a player?

>Champion info: http://pastebin.com/bNditXfG

You lay awake as the morning light slowly creeps its way toward your eyes. Abigail sleeps soundly, laying halfway on top of you where she passed out last night.

You've been awake for about an hour now. Normally you would have gotten up and done something by now, but you're so incredibly sore. Even thinking about moving hurts.

The time when you do have to move is getting nearer though. Moriarty is beginning to circle, and it's only a matter of time before he starts demanding to be fed. On top of that, the sunbeam from the window has been inching towards your eyes ever since you first woke up.

You decide to preempt the inevitable, and carefully slide out from underneath Abigail. You can't help but grunt in pain as your muscles protest against your activities.

"Meer?" Moriarty says.
"Yeah... I'll be fine" You say, scratching his head as you sit up. "I just pulled my... everything"

Moriarty hops off the bed and walks out of the room, satisfied that you're well enough to feed him.

After taking a deep breath, you stand up. Your legs did not enjoy that. You feel like you ran across town carrying half a house.

As you leave, you stop at the door to regard Abigail. Now missing the warmth that you provided, she starts to curl up. You toss a blanket over her and peck her on the cheek before leaving the room.

"Okay..." You say. You're out of bed.

Now what?
