Phi is right. You need to calm down. You need to Stay Professional. As you half sit, half fall into a nearby chair, you breathe.
In.
Out.
In.
Out.
Professionalism is what will keep you alive in this war.
In.
Out.
As a soldier, you always need to keep your mind clear, focused on the task at hand. You have to be aware when your comrades are not. It is your responsibility to be vigilant for threats against your comrade's lives.
In.
Out.
Your brothers rely on you for guidance, for good decision making, for proper tactics that defeat the enemy and allow them to return back to base alive. You are an officer of the Grand Army of the Republic, a leader among men, born to win this war no matter the cost.
Not at the cost of the lives of your brothers. Needless, unwarranted, manipulated death is not something that you will ever allow for your brothers. You will always be there to protect your comrades, provide support for their assaults, relay intelligence important to the battle at hand.
Your duty, the reason you were bred into this world, is to keep your brothers alive. Bandit was right about that if nothing else. The men under your command are your responsibility.
The men of 6th platoon are not under your command.
You have a command, but with no men in it.
Most of the men in 6th platoon are rookies, fresh from Kamino.
Like you, only a couple days ago.
You will protect them.
You will be the one who leads them into battle, not a line of rebellious scum who will cower behind the armor of your comrades, filth who will only rush in after troopers have lost their lives for their war.
You know who you need to talk to.
You are already moving, running, rain splattering against your armor, mud sticking to your boots.
You do not care. You have men to protect. You have a duty to fulfill.
Vision blurs, time warps, you are outside, then inside, in light, then in darkness.
> [Cont.]
>>44723945
You are shaking, fists are curled, clingy hot words are burning your tongue.
You unleash them, your general stand before you, you hold no mercy.
You will show no emotion.
What meaning do the lives of your brothers have?
Are you nothing but expendable lives to be thrown into the meatgrider, treated as nothing more than walking weapons to propel into enemy fire?
Are you nothing but slaves for the war of others?
Are you nothing but beings bred to bleed, to suffer, to scream and to die for intangible ideas?
Are you nothing but a murderer for ordering your men, your brothers, human being created from the same seed, should you not be condemned for directing them to their deaths?
Are you nothing but a cog in the machine that is war?
What are you, general, you beg, you plead, you stand stoic, you wait, you demand, you scream for the answer.
Everything is silent, and always has been.
You are standing in a familiar room in front of familiar people-
-Him, the man with the blue had, the cape, the scar on his cheek?-
It does not matter. You glare at your commander, your general, the Jedi leading you into battle, the one you fought alongside, the one you saved from utter defeat.
He is looking at you now, concern plaguing his expression. People are trying to talk to you, ask you something.
You do not hear them. You entire world is captured in the general's eyes.
Here is your superior. He has proven himself a warrior, as all Jedi are.
He was happy that you survived. He did not like that your comrades died.
Soldiers die in war. That is their duty. To fight and perhaps die.
You protest. 6th Platoon. pointless, death.
Your thoughts are muddled, slow, but peace slowly flows through your body.
Compassion and concern for comrades is good. Too much compassion can result in their deaths. Temperance, tranquility, reason.
To be a commander is to understand that sometimes, men will die because of your decisions.
> [Cont.]
>>44723978
To be a commander is to understand that you are the decider of what those men's deaths will mean.
Will it result in victory, or defeat?
Always strive for victory, but never be afraid to stand strong in defeat.
The war is larger than one man, one clone, though every life is important, there is a galaxy of lives to protect.
To be a commander is to understand that you must always survive to lead your men, so that you may protect them, guide them.
To be a commander is to understand that you must always Stay.
Professional.
Stay.
Professional.
Staystaystaystaystaystaystaystaystaystaystay
Professional.
Your world will end once you are no longer a professional.
Your world will end once you are no longer-
Your world twists.
You see Kenobi's eyes, blinking.
You blink back.
You are standing in the command center. The table between you and General Kenobi is projecting a holomap of the entire front. You see a familiar list of cities, the same cities you saw in the datapad captured from the Nationalists. There are the Republic and Loyalist lines. Dotted around the map are a series of Forts. Many are labelled to be occupied by "Pirates." Are there more than just the Separatist scum that are preying on the Republic citizens of Jabiim?
"Hey, Lieutenant?" You look over to see Bandit standing beside you. Next to him is Jackpot and Phi, all three of them staring intently at you. You survey the room around you now, moving your eyes from right to left.
Next to Phi and Jackpot stands Commander Cody, then the General. Then there is a human wearing an old fashioned officer's hat, colored black and navy blue, wearing a crisply pressed navy blue uniform that is adorned with dozens of medals. Over his shoulders rests a black combat poncho, and he is staring at you with blue eyes sparkling in amused confusion. To the left of the soldier stands Xtreme.
> [Cont.]
"Lieutenant," Kenobi garners your attention. "Thank you for arriving, I have a new mission for your forces to move out on in 3 days time."
You stand at attention, mentally kicking yourself for standing so sloppily before your general. You are needed to perform a mission for the Republic. You must be attentive.
"Yes, General." You say. Nothing else comes to mind. Why should it? You only need to listen to the briefing for your mission.
"All right, there is a regiment of Loyalists forces moving through the city of Termat, here." The holomap focuses in on the city. It rest near a large river that opens up into the ocean. The map scrolls up stream to the nearby location of "Fort Dawaq."
"Here is where an enclave of mercenaries and pirates have taken control." Kenobi continues. "We have intel that the pirates are working with the Separatists to blockade supplies from reaching the city. The fort has 6 anti air cannons and an unidentified amount of anti personnel emplacements, as well as a commanding view of the city. If the deal goes through and the pirates allow the Separatists to occupy this fort, then it will result in the bombardment of the Termat." Kenobi motions to the man in the blue uniform. "This here is General Nar Tarik, leader of the Loyalist forces in that sector. He is who you will be working closely with during your operation, Lieutenant."
You will be fighting alongside the allies of the Republic? Sounds good.
General Tarik speaks, his tone both grave and gravelly. "If Fort Dawaq falls to the Separatists, then the entirety of the northern flank will be cut off from the rest of our forces."

I've been blacksmithing as a hobby for a few years, and I have finally decided to try and do it full time. I got started because I like dwarves and I think they're cool, so I have come now to ask for a bit of help. I've been scouring through any resource I can on dwarves from all fantasy series trying to find some inspiration for a logo. So far, I've come across nothing I like and want to emulate, so I've come to ask you, /tg/.
Can you help me come up with a logo that is simple yet conveys the services of a blacksmith? I'll need it to both represent me and be a touchmark, so it has to be simple. The only thing I've come up with so far is a poorly drawn (from lack of artistic talent) anvil on a white field. Asked for opinions on it and was told it was pretty bad. Any thoughts?
This was the anvil, but like I say it's pretty bad.
>>44723425
Not too shabby. Shorten the bit in the middle and ir will look better as an insignia.
>>44723425
How about a simple hammer with a lettet above/below?
It lacks appeal.
It's not symmetrical to give people comfort, the bottom angles aren't mirrored so the image inherently feels imbalanced.
The white core also makes it so feel that it's light and gives no impression of an anvil.
It's a bad logo because it doesn't have a clear message.
Watch this guy think and work.

What /tg/-related releases are you most looking forward to in 2016?
Pic related for me.
Lots of World of Darkness stuff. There's a book of historical settings and the new edition of Wraith both coming out.

that and Call of Cthulhu (should have gotten that shit in 2013)

Edgemaster McFuckyou

Drizzt
Shitty D'Edgy.
What music does /tg/ use when you're planning or running in the background during the game?
I've got pretty terrible taste but I've used some LOTR inspired stuff and the generic "fantasy song playlist" from youtube but that's really hit and miss. Want to build up a better playlist.
Misty Mountains (from the actual Hobbit movie): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEm0AjTbsac
Witcher 3 soundtrack: https://youtu.be/oLSdl-CdOBo?t=9m21s is something I'm also partial to.
Any genre welcome, no point it just being fantasy.

Don't forget the Baron.
/tg/, help me, I am obsessed. Tonight I was dreaming and in my dream I met Daniel Hall, the current avatar of the Dreaming from Vertigo.
It's 5 am right now and I can't go back to sleep because I am obsessed with an idea of a Vertigo and wider DC multiverse based roleplay now.
A game where you can be a creature from one of the realms in Orrery of Gods, like Dream and Nightmare or Hell, hell even New Gods and Para-Demons and such could work. The roleplay itself would be lots of strange interdimensional travel with "2deep4u" stuff going on, plot and characters similar to Sandmax and Hellblazer and all of that jazz. Players would get to explore their characters feelings and perspectives on life in a constantly shifting conceptual multiverse.
Where can I run that? What system would you suggest? I need a game that is mystical, flexible with high power level and lots of different magical classes so I can fluff it as a creature from The Dreaming or a Demon or a New God or whatever. Also this is one of those few times where I think that a less crunchy system and more of a fluffy system would work better
Just go with Fate? Maybe some nWoD game like Mage?

Can /tg/ recommend undead regiment minis in a similar style to Avatars of War? I really like their undead commanders, but they haven't released anything like basic troops or elites. I'd like them for large-scale battles. Nothing from GW, please.
>>44720464
I'm assuming you already know about Mantic's undead?
>>44720464
There are no good generic skeleton miniatures that also have fancy armor on them. They're all either naked skeletons or have basic armor.
>>44720684
Unless you count single miniatures.
Though GW's Graveguard would qualify if OP wasn't oppossed to it.
I am joining a 5e campaign next week, it will be my first time since I was very young that I played Dungeons and Dragons.
I'm attempting to read the rule books bow, but the gm said not even to bother and just learn how to create a character.
Is it worth reading all of the manual? Also what class would be good for a starting character.
I'm thinking about ranger.
>>44719928
Read up the character creation stuff first, look over the classes, see what you like.
It's probably easier to go in to the first session not reading it since it sounds like he'll run you through an introduction, but read it after if you have time.
>>44719928
Read the chapter on general combat and how skills work. There's cover rules and stuff you should learn
I bet your dm makes up a bunch of rules though
read over the basic rules and character creation. Its really simple so I think your dm will create his own rules
Is there a utility equivalent of warmage?

Swiss Army Mage.

That's a bit common, isn't it? Also a bit modern. IT's a fantasy campaign so something a little less up-to-date would probably be better.
Thanks for offering some help, though.

So I think a lot of people can have trouble making interesting characters out of your standard mundane fighty types and tend to default to "I WANNA BE DE BEST SWARD GUY EVAR" for their fighters/street samurai/whatever but then that's more of a cardboard cutout with a sword than a character.
Have any of you had or came across any good character background or concepts for mundane fighty types that are actually interesting?
Fuck backgrounds and concept, it's personality that matters.
>>44719512
Fuck background and personality, it's concepts that matters.
>>44719512
Personality tends to be based off of these things and play into them, so I'd say they all matter.
Our GM loved references . . . and puns. Both of those very much affected this campaign, both for better and for worse. With that disclaimer out of the way, we begin this tale with a young Novamarine by the name of Caiden Marsten. Caiden was essentially the leader of the group that would be, mainly by virtue of being the straight-laced one in a party of crazy people.
The words that spring to mind when one thinks of the Deathwatch are generally along the lines of “Heroism, Bravery, Determination, Loyalty, etc.” This story isn’t about those Deathwatch teams. Instead, this story concerns a team very much removed from such concepts. These are the tales of Kill-Team Kingfisher, the greatest Deathwatch kill team that ever lived and that the Inquisition wishes they could forget existed. To protect the memories of these astartes, their names have been changed as they are from the record.
****Note: I changed the names back because it was funny. Fuck you. Sincerely: Tantalus.
After a somewhat uncomfortable meeting, Caiden and Saul would be given their first mission. It was essentially an off-the-record milk run. A fairly eccentric Rogue Trader only ever referred to as the “Iron Duke” within our hearing had called in a long-standing favor from the local Inquisitorial forces. His son’s pet alien had escaped into the Lower Hive of one of the main Hive Cities of Maniah I. The world was fairly typical as Hive Worlds go with the only major feature being the fortress monastery of an Imperial Fist successor chapter: The Iron Authority. Deathwatch newbies were being called in to handle it because it was a fairly simple way to break them into xeno-hunting, and because the Iron Duke had no favors to call in from the local astartes forces.
The two marines took some time to gear up for the hunting mission. Caiden grabbed manacles, teleport beacons, heavy duty tranquilizers, and Saul got a melta bomb and thunder hammer. This would be a fairly typical occurrence. After gearing up, the two boarded their shuttle and made their way into orbit over Maniah I in order to meet up with the Rogue Trader’s crew for a pre-mission briefing. Upon arrival, they were met by Deacon Cornelia Ostrum. While neither really knew her very well, she was the on-again off-again missionary for the Iron Duke who had been largely responsible for spreading the Imperial Cult into the Heathen Stars. She was accompanied by her traditional escort of six members of her Faith Squad armed with heavy flamers.
Still there OP?
After exchanging pleasantries, in which Caiden complemented the guards on their choice of weapon, Ostrum began explaining to the Astartes what they would be hunting. It was all fairly routine in the beginning: Alien pet of a Rogue Trader had escaped, it needed to be hunted down and brought back ALIVE, and it was an Ork named Frederick.
“Excuse me, could you repeat that last part?” Caiden asked. “His name is Frederick,” replied Ostrum. He’s an Ork the young master “tamed” some time ago. He’ll be armed with a laspistol but likely nothing else.” There was a long silence before Caiden just sighed and picked up his gear. “We’ll get it done then.”
Armed with knowledge of just what they would be trying to capture, and grumbling the whole way, Caiden and Saul made their way to the Lower Hive’s entrance. It was at this point that a third marine joined their team. Enter Tantalus: The Steel Confessor Techmarine. Rather than take a shuttle down, he decided that the most efficient way would be to lock onto their location and drop pod in on top of them. The two had just enough time to get to cover before the drop pod slammed down next to them. As Tantalus stepped out from the drop pod now lodged in the hive, Caiden and Saul got their first look at him. At first glance Tantalus wasn’t really different from an “average” techmarine. Well-cared for armor, far too many metal bits protruding from his body, and an abundance of sensors and gadgets that probably did not strictly need to be on his armor. No, the real oddity was Tantalus’ armor: It was composed of a mark V base, mark IV gauntlets, mark VI greaves, and an honest-to-Emperor mark II helmet dating back to the Great Crusade. No one had any idea where he had gotten the thing, and Tantalus just muttered something about the “Sacred Mysteries of the Omnissiah” whenever he was pressed on it.
