Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you explored the tunnels beneath your family estate and discovered a strange device forgotten to time.

It is currently the 26th of Svarthi, in the year 936 NH.

You watch passively as runes carve themselves into the spaces left blank in the arrays nearest bronze dome at the center of the room and the enormous lump of twisted iron now rising from within. Before your very eyes the tendrils crowning the strange device begin to unfold, stretching almost as if the fingers of some monstrous hand until they embed themselves in the stone pillars framing it on either side, all save one. The central tendril instead stretches upward, its jagged tip just barely touching the carved stone hanging above.

There's a clap of thunder as lightning shoots through the iron, arcing between the fingers of iron and casting the chamber momentarily in stark contrast. You see Profectus, his face contorted into an expression of utter disbelief, with his stone hand still pressed against one of the pillars. You're going to need to have a word with him if you both survive this, you gave him one directive and that was not to touch anything. Apparently that wasn't clear enough for him.

You try to retreat to the edge of the room but find you can't go far. Some sort of barrier has erected itself around the device, a thin pane of vys connecting each of the pillars together and sealing the runic array off completely from the rest of the chamber. It reminds you of a less destructive version of that field of energy you found erected within the enchanter's palace, somewhere within the void.

A slit appears in the 'palm' of the deformed iron hand in the center of the room, slowly extending until it reaches from the stone platform the device rest upon to the carved stone dangling above. It widens, revealing a hallway shrouded in white fog. On the left you see the vaguest shadows of the room you're in, pale reflections on the other side of the screen. To the right, innumerable tiny holes reveal glimpses of the endless black of the void. It is the space between your layer of reality and the next.
(1/2)
>>
Curious, you've only ever seen it as a disembodied soul. You didn't think it possible to access physically, yet here you are staring at a doorway into the space between. Fog spills across the floor, spreading almost as if a living thing across the floor of the chamber. It meets the barrier trapping you inside and recoils, thin strands of fog probing the thin field of vys to no avail. The mist seems to avoid yourself and Profectus as well, giving the latter a particularly wide berth.

>Try to find a way to deactivate the device so you can get out of here.
>Step through the doorway, see where this grey hallway leads.
>Send Profectus through the doorway, he got you into this mess.
>Try to find a way to deactivate the barrier trapping you in here.

1 and 2 can be accomplished in your opponent's turn. You're able to respond to the counterbalance trigger with brainstorm, giving you the knowledge of whether to reveal or not.

Digging for fetchlands/top is sort of an okay response, but I'd value the information gain from casting brainstorm later more.

So, hold up a second

>Massive numbers of megafauna all over the world, including numerous species of large predator that may have hunted humans as prey
>Multiple sentient species of hominids of different sizes, shapes, strengths and appearances all running around in the same time period, including Homo habilis (for a bit, anyway), Homo erectus, Homo floresiensis, the Neanderthals, Homo sapiens and maybe even the Denisovians, with lots of warring, and interbreeding going on

Jesus Christ, guys, did the fantasy setting full of multiple sentient species and giant monsters already happen?

Hello, my elegan/tg/entlemen. The story for the creation of this thread is quite simply, I decided to play a fighter in a Pathfinder game and, as you would imagine, I'm slowly getting behind my partners (ALL of them are casters. Druid, Wizard and Cleric). We are currently a lvl 6 party and I already see my grim future.
I used to play a lot of D&D 3.5 but I don't know a lot about Pathfinder so it would be great if you guys could share your knowledge about good builds, feats, weapons, strategies and everything fighter related.
Any book is welcome.

TL;DR: Help me to build a decent fighter character.

Why anons give answers like this one sometimes?
Can't you see it's not going to the point of the thread?

Anyway, thanks for your reply. I don't want to be a caster but that Path of War shit sounds neat, what's that? Like I said I don't know a lot about this game.

You are the greatest knight of your kingdom, having slain countless dragons, witches, and warlocks of all varieties, strong enough to take on armies alone.

On a painfully slow summer's day, you are given the menial task of clearing out some bandits along the road, who have been robbing passing travelers.

You travel down the road a ways until you find two young girls, fidgeting with a large, heavy chest. The taller of the two picks it up as if it weighs nothing, and slings it over her shoulders.

As you approach, you raise your hand an announce yourself. The two girls quickly turn and look. The shorter one crosses her arms. "Well well well, looks like the king finally got serious about stopping us. Are you here to put us away, mister?" she says rather innocently. "Take him out." the short one says to the taller one - and the taller one seems to disappear!

What do you do? 3, 6, or 9 picks the next action.

You are Billy Bones, a skeleton sorcerer pretending to be a skeleton bard. You have killed your creator, the amateur necromancer Gyrnax, and taken his cave for your own designs. You have two goblin minions and a mindless skeleton servitor. After returning the daughter's of the local village's mayor to his custody, you were granted the ability to visit town once a week as long as you didn't spook people out excessively. This leaves you with a week of free time to do whatever you like.

It's a competitive game.

I saw recently (and thought it was a joke) that some Canadian schools were removing the concept of "score" from soccer. It was upsetting kids who weren't winning.

If your friend loses at games and gives up rather than striving to improve, that's his fault, not the neckbeards'.

You are a Construct, an autonomous creature built from steel, and given life by ancient magic and modern ingenuity. Unlike most, you have mistakenly achieved sentience, and have received civil rights. You are also a detective with the city police.

After an hour of tedious and mind numbing interrogation, the man who you think may be linked to a mass murder at the Policeman's Ball earlier tonight has finally cracked, and is willing to give you some sort of information on his connection to the crime. You sit at a table, across from him, as he crosses his arms and feeds you what he knows.

"We had a guy, Ramirez I think. Lycan, like one of those Shifter boys, but he was on the up and up. Clean, efficient, all that shit. He sniffed out the poison at the start, but not all of us heard in time. He knew if he yelled, it'd just bring attention to him. Ask me, he should have just done it. We lost some good boys tonight because of whoever did this shit. Anyway, after everyone hit the deck, Ramirez got shot. Silver bullet too, which means he's in the ground. Dunno how they got one, but either way, no more Ramirez."

You think back. There was a single gunshot, but you didn't see where it was, who fired, or who was hit. It's very possible the man is being honest, and you could easily confirm it with the coroner. Still, if he's confessing to being employed by the Covenant, that means they really weren't the ones who did the deed.

>"Who in the organization dies tonight?"

PREVIOUSLY ON MAGICAL GIRL LIBERTY: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Magical+Girl+Liberty

“Liberty. I am disappointed that your actions have resulted in alerting Baroness von Streucker and the Wolf Pack to your presence, and to the potential presence of the United States in the espionage theatre of war.” Over the radio as all of you sit in an abandoned shed outside of town, you listen to Operator #5 debrief you. It’s not great. Especially considering your rather brutal honesty in describing the incident. “While I may compliment your attempted sabotage of their operations, and in the prisonbreak of one of her prisoners, this is not a mission you may be entirely used to. I am advising extreme caution, especially with the news that the Werewolves have returned.”

You cross your arms. “You knew they existed and didn’t tell us?”

“The Messengers were under the impression that they were extinct, the last one reported was several centuries ago claimed by one of your predecessors in fact. But it appears that enough have survived to form an ad hoc pack with Baroness von Streucker’s husband becoming their alpha male.”

You shudder. Husband. You still want to scrub that image of her and him together out of your mind.

“Regardless, your job and mine as well have become more difficult now. The Nazis could tolerate us foiling their plots overseas where it was deemed relatively harmless, where Hitler was simply hunting trinkets and fools gold. But now, interfering directly with one of their projects, will surely put other agents in Germany in danger. They will be on alert for them, and for you.” You nod. A pit forms in your gut. This can’t be a failure, right? You got the information. You got Alena out. And the Werewolves are back which means you have to stop them now! “For now, continue to observe.”

“Observe?” you ask. “Sir, they’re planning on breeding more werewolves. That much is obvious!”

“Regardless as to what their plans are, with the increasing tension between our nations we cannot be allowed to be seen as sabotaging their efforts openly. While we may hate Germany and all it stands for on the homefront, we cannot risk going to war now while we are so unprepared. We must allow others to do our work for us.” The resistance, of course. But what can they do? You shake your head, looking down. “Am I understood, Liberty?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Very well. I look forward to your next report. Do not disappoint me again.” The radio cuts out.

Inside the shack is an air of silence. Alena quietly hugs herself in a corner, glancing at everybody suspiciously.

“Man,” says Sumire. She crosses her legs, sitting on a crate next to you. “I’ve never heard #5 lay it into you that badly.”

“What do we do?” asks Anneliese. “If we attempt to arm any resistance members, they’ll surely be slaughtered before they can do any damage. Baroness von Streucker possesses too much materiel, and that’s not to mention that she has the support of the Nazis in Berlin as well.”

Become The Vampire 34

You wash off as quickly as you can while getting rid of as much of Presence's slime as possible, and as you rush out you throw on your skater outfit for lack of better casual attire. You manage to make it to the bus stop just in time to watch it pull away, cursing under your breath. You sit down at the bus stop and wait, fingers crossed that you'll make it on time.

...

You make it to the karaoke bar with about a minute to spare, but Sammy is already there when you arrive. You said you were just hanging out, but she's gotten dressed up for the evening anyway, wearing a white dress and a denim jacket and styling her hair with more effort than just “wear it in a style that hides her ears”. She waves at you as you get close, smiling and walking over.

“Did you run all the way here or did I take your breath away?”

She smirks a bit and blushes. You get the feeling she's been waiting to use that line after hearing it from a member of the track team. Life goal achieved, it seems.

Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.

Most Important Rule:
Have fun.

Welcome to A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest. In which you take the reins of a House of storied glorious past since Aegon’s Conquering, but whose fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in the doom that Robert’s Rebellion brought. Taking place in 284AC a year after the Rebellion has ended you are Brynden Malroy, second son to Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford and the last living heir to Steadhold and House Malroy.

House Malroy is a pre-genned House designed around the idea of a story within the Crownlands of a House fiercely loyal to the Targaryens and their attempts to live in this new world after Robert’s Rebellion. The new Lord Brynden Malroy is as well pre-genned but will take direction from the players in his ways and how he develops himself further. This Quest will be moderately more story driven than others of its kind, but the development of the House and her lands will take just as much importance.

If you’ve played the one of the many Quests within the ASoIaF setting the rules of the SIFRP system should be known. I will be using the Game of Thrones edition, as well as a few of the expansions namely OOSP and a few house rules which will be explained as we come to them. If you have questions about how things work or why certain actions are taken I can explain them as we go along. In truth this is a learning experience for me as well.

The morning was still young and it allowed you a brief moment of silence upon the field where the next week’s events would take place. By mid afternoon the field would be filled to capacity, smallfolk of your lands, merchants from abroad and local alike, and the clatter of steel, the voices of hopeful Knights and Squires. Morning dew still hung upon the grass, leaving an imprint of your footsteps behind you, soon to be washed away by the sunrise, You hear the beginning of mornings, fire and the sizzling of bacon reaches your nose, a rather hungover Knight passes by your, giving a stiff incline of his head. You chuckle to yourself, fixing the onyx cufflinks that you found amongst your things from Essos a few days prior. Leaving through the menagerie of tents you find yourself within Gawen’s stables, you see far more gold here than you did upon your return to Steadhold. Young horses remind you of the first time you had met Goldsong, they inherited his calm, the black stare, quiet noises. Plucking a sugar cube from the bucket you feed a particularly young one, a female you had taken a liking too, one of his from the latest stock. She takes it from you happily, pushing her head against your hand. Perhaps you would keep her for yourself…

“Mornin’, Milord,” Gawen’s voice interrupts your thoughts, and you turn your head to regard him.

“Good morning Gawen, good to see you, how fares your son?”
>>
“Well Milord, the Hayfords be treating him well, told me they are considering taking him on full time,” he says, checking off things on his list as he walks down the stable towards you, “Wouldn’t be against it me self, he needs the experience before he takes over for me, I figure.” You chuckle and he stops next to you, examining your girl, looking at her teeth and clicking his tongue, “Best not spoil ‘er Milord.”

“She’s a good one Gawen. Put her in my personal stable, perhaps she’ll be her father’s successor someday.”

“Very well Milord,” the elder horsemaster responds, unclicking the lock and taking her, though before he’s out of earshot he stops and turns back to you, “Milord? May I be honest?”

“Of course Gawen.”

“Your boy. He’s a good lad. Helps around a bit the stables. Mite… Naive. My boy, he knows the world will never be at ‘is fingertips. He accepts it, embraces it. Glad to be in the company of a fine House and Lord. Your boy-”

“Thank you Gawen,” you interrupt, catching his eye with a glance.

He stiffens, and gives you a bow, “My apologizes Milord. Enjoy the Squire’s Melee today.”

The hum of the crowd reminds you of Essos, of the cities of Myr and Lys, and of your month in King’s Landing, the cheers, the yells of support. You sigh, cracking your neck in a roll. Ser Dontos Malroy is to your side, dressed in his full armor, the onyx with golden trim, the purple cloak upon his shoulders dusted from the dirt of his trial by combat. He gives you a nod, running his free hand through his short hair, the silver of stress upon his temples bristling to the touch. You hear the voice of the crier, calling attention to the grandstand. Titles, names, lineage, accomplishments, you hear them all, until finally…
>>
“Ladies and Lords! Folk both high and low! I urge you in welcoming to the grandstand, the Lord of House Malroy and Steadhold, and the man behind the next week of revelry! LORD BRYNDEN MALROY!”

The cheers deafen you, they call your name, and you take it in. Breathing in deeply, arms out stretched for quiet, but a smile spread across your face. Before you is a mass of young men likely no more than 80, some boys even, in mismatched armor and arms, Squires all. Given a chance at greatness upon the opening day, a small prize, 200 Dragons, a lesser horse, and if they proved themselves worthy, a Knighthood with subsequent entry into the Grand Melee in the days prior. You raise a hand allowing them to rise, their looks ranging from nervous to fierce. You spy Grant Conklyn among them and Robb Brax, the young man with the Westerlands envoy. The crier calls their attention and they break, taking positions about the field as he explains the rules of the Squire Melee. First blood, last man standing.

You sit; Dontos to your left, Mason taking his spot to your left, but to your direct left an empty seat, belonging to someone who was not yet here. Below you Lucas and Racheal, among others of your Household. Looking out among the stands you see the various Knights, Lords and Ladies that had attended, all watching eagerly. The Crackclaw Point Lords together, Lord Conklyn with his wife. There was a chance to speak with others if you so wished while watching the event.

It's funny—after all of the strange things you've seen and done in the past few months, you would think your threshold for strangeness would be capable of encapsulating this. The flickering light-traced form of the Iron General seems woefully out of place in your living room, though, articulated leg talons flexing as if to scrape a hole in the wood flooring underfoot.

“You ought to know before you settle here,” you tell him. “There are reports of a pair of incredibly dangerous beasts roaming the countryside near Eluneia.”

Glass-lens eyes whir and refocus on you unsettlingly. After a moment the General clarifies the motion by cocking his head to one side.

“Ah,” you stutter, “My apologies. Eluneia is a large city a ways to the southwest of Grisoch.”

The General nods. “And I assume you're putting together a contingency plan for the ripples their presence will inevitably spread to our neighborhood.” It isn't a question the way he says it.

You shake your head. “Something a little more proactive, actually. I need materials from at least one of them to enact an important project on my end.”

“I see.” There is a static-whine as the cylinder projecting the general fuzzes for a moment. “We would be pleased to aid you in that endeavor for an appropriate percentage of the salvage from the beast itself.”

You wonder what precisely that aid entails. “We can negotiate hard numbers at a later time,” you tell him. “I'm woefully underprepared to attempt such a thing at the moment.” Your research regarding the Allmother Mud and the Tyrant Wyrm still makes you a little queasy to recall.

“As you will.” The general gestures off to one side. You glance to Quinn, who gestures to himself in confusion, but the General's words quickly clarify his movement. “Saeri will pay Grisoch a visit with the preparatory agents to ensure things go smoothly. We can discuss such matters then.”

You nod. “As you say. Thank you for your time, General.”

The Iron Tyrant inclines his head to you. “Keep the device. When you have need of me, it may be used to request an audience.”

The image fuzzes at the edges once more before coming apart in a cloud of glowing dust. The levitating cylinder snaps shut, dropping with a hollow -thud- to your floor.

“Is he that big in person?” Quinn asks, moving from the counterspace where he had rooted himself.

“Bigger,” you reply. You retrieve the tube from the floor, tucking into a safe place on the mantle.
