Starlight Glimmer got the grand tour of Ponyville as a friend. She may not have an Element from the Tree of Harmony, or her own throne, but those are hardly necessary to enjoy her time with the ones who do. She just is unlikely to find her cutie mark flashing when yet another friendship problem crops up in Equestria. She does have more magical experience fiddling with the map table, though, so perhaps she can work in a research support position. Twilight should be interested, too. Academically, leastwise - she's not likely to try time-travelling again on her own. But who knows what else it could do with the right magic?

I don't get why people don't want it to be not canon just because they think its bad. Unless you're that hung up about Twilight having a crush on Flash, there's nothing that its existence does to really affect the pony universe. And just because you thought it was bad, pretending its not canon doesn't erase how the show staff made a bad movie, just like pretending an episode wasn't really canon doesn't erase the episode from ever existing.

It's less a theory and more based around extended universe stuff: apparently all of the non-pony races of Equestria prefer Princess Luna over Celestia. Manticores, zebras, and dragons all prefer talking to her over Celestia and Luna even knows some of their languages.

Perhaps Twilight's demonstration may have held slightly more initial weight with Starlight if the timeline alteration had had more immediately noticeable changes- like Nightmare Moon triumphant, or the war with King Sombra- but the wind-swept desolation still lent some gravitas. Something caused it in the myriad permutations of past disruption, but what? There wasn't anyone around to explain it, and the only cause Twilight was interested in preventing was the first change that enabled the rest. It might have been useful knowledge, though - even if the history isn't the same, presumably the cause is still technically possible in her own life, and that's certainly something she'd prefer to prevent.
Guess she'll just have to keep on the ways she knows how and trust in the power of friendship.

What moment in this show do you remember the most, Anon?

Mine was in S2E2 when they did this. A feeling of spaghetti welled up inside me that still hasn't completely died down. All of my teenage hormones and autism found its way to the forefront of my thoughts at once and I cried like a bitch.
At the time, I told myself that those feelings were because of some element of superiority and emotional advancement I was tapping into through a show with corny morals. I soon realized that not only was such a thing complete bullshit, but how irrelevant it was in the first place. Why I was happy did not matter. The only reason I even allocated any synapses the prospect of some sovereign justifier of my happiness is because I was an immature, scared bitch. I could just do what I wanted and anyone who said otherwise was completely expendable, even my father. Especially him.
I don't even fear the prospect of the show coming to an end one day, anymore. As I envision a hypothetical very last frame in which the Mane Six will huddle together for one last photo, like at the end of the show intro, all I can think about is how much fun I'll have daydreaming for the rest of my life about how I hope to adventure with them and learn from them when I die... and how I can honor them by being a happy, decent human being whether they're real or not.
This show didn't save my life or teach me anything at all. It was just a very nice, convenient catalyst for my growth as a person. And that's more than I can say about most humans on this earth.I can stop thinking and rethinking this spaghetti all the time now that I've put it somewhere.

Watched it for the first time today and it seems to me like it's basically what a large part of the adult fandom expected from FiM. Epic fantasy, a quest, witches, monsters, kings, bandits and sorcerors.
One of my all time faves senpai. Actually kind of hope FiM pays homage to it in some way, shape, or form before the ride ends.
Never seen it before but I came in here triggered by the idea (and possible fact) that there are more people watching the show now who want those things than people who started watching long ago looking for something different.
I fucking love this movie. I love all the rankin bass stuff and I love smoking a bowl and putting on a bakshi film. Hell I even have a playmat currently in the mail that is this screen cap because I think this fucking movie is beautiful.
